Oh, I thought Amnesia was on Xbox live. But yeah, Capcom's obsession with the west and matching Call of Duty numbers is not going to turn out very well.

The survival horror market for consoles right now is what? Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Amnesia, maybe Corpse Party and pretty much nothing else that is even remotely mainstream. Yeah, that's an oversaturated market right there, especially since all four of those games/series are very different in style.

Well, as Hakuoki showed, Idea Factory isn't actually that bad at story when its what they focus on.

Oh, I thought it was a Vita game.

It's a really weird idea, but it doesn't sound like a raunchy game. I'll keep an eye out for a prospective localization of this.

Ar Tonelico went in a really different direction from Atelier. The character designs look about twelve on average again in the Arland trilogy, but since there is little to no overt fanservice, it doesn't come off nearly as weird.

Yeah...you didn't do the Fish Festival in Totori did you? That's 'moderate' tops. A bit higher than 'a little'. XP

Well, you get my point. I dread what a fourth Ar Tonelico would be like.

I just finished it too. It was...beautiful. That is seriously the only word I can think of that would describe it.

Don't forget the Super Robot Taisen games that were localized here. OG1 and OG2 for GBA and (deep breath) Super Robot Taisen Original Generation Saga Endless Frontier for DS. The first two are turn based strategy and the third is a jRPG with an interesting battle system and an obsession with double entendres. If that doesn't bother you, it's actually really good.

The only time when I think a reboot is actually a good idea is like what happened with Battlestar Galactica. There were a lot of good ideas in the original show, but the execution left a lot to be desired. I think a reboot should only happen if the original game/movie/tv show had a lot of potential, but something prevented that potential from bearing fruit.

Oh, I guess Xenogears/Xenosaga could be counted as a reboot.

1) Persona 4
2) Digital Devil Saga
3) Nocturne
4) Strange Journey
5) Persona 3 FES

The one RPG remake that I think was unarguably a good idea was Final Fantasy III. Say what you will about the game itself, the remake ensured that it would make its way over here. Granted, they could have updated it a little more, you know, like a save point in the two hour final dungeon, but Final Fantasy III was otherwise totally unavailable in North America and probably very difficult to find legally in Japan.

Sakura Wars was the last big thing in North America.

No. Most likely not.

I'm really bad at learning other languages, but I had a French teacher describe English in this way. "English is a linguistic serial mugger. It runs around attacking other languages and stealing random words and rules without paying any attention to if they fit in with the rest of its collection." The only reason English is learnable at all is that it is at least somewhat phonetic. Imagine if Japanese or Chinese worked the same way. They'd be nigh impossible to learn.
