I think a good way to describe my response (I don't like the new one very much) is that it is a very good Ninja Theory game, but it's not a very good DMC game. You end up with this awkward position where coming up with a score is rather difficult.

Although, the one thing that I will say I think is just bad is the writing. Excessive swearing is not good dialogue. If you must use excessive swearing, balance it out with truly witty dialogue. If a character constantly swears and never proves that they can say anything interesting on their own merits, they are not well written. It is incredibly obvious that this is Ninja Theory's first game where they didn't bring in an outside writer to work on it. Heavenly Sword had Rhianna Pratchett and Enslaved had Alex Garland. This just has Tameem and, while his worldbuilding is interesting, his characters really aren't written well. The game also gives really mixed signals about who is supposed to be sympathetic and not in a good way, the pacing is extremely inconsistent and the only character I liked is one of the villains.

The combat is fine and the game looks okay, if aesthetically somewhat ugly, but it's just the writing that ruined it for me.

It's on the Virtual Console on the Wii.

There's Suikoden I, II, III (sort of) and V.

The baffling thing, at least for me, is that this series is perfect for a port or remake or something substantial using the older games. I remember there was a mini-flareup when Square Enix accidentally mixed screenshots from SD3 with the initial announcement of Heroes of Mana.

Tri-Ace has never been good at plot or characters. When the story's good, they make it a pain to see the whole thing. Anyway, I actually enjoyed SO4 as well, but it was a combination of playing an excellent battle system and watching a funny-bad anime. I didn't like SO3 much because of the ridiculous plot twist, a big chunk of the plot was utterly meaningless and the characters tended towards being massively underdefined. The MP health thing was a huge pain as well.

I have to say that it's nice to see an RPG with a proper world map again.

I know that Kaneko designed the Devil Trigger forms for DMC 3. I would love to see that happen with this. It would stick out so much.

The battle system was way too dependent on luck.

At least it's not as infuriating as the BBC with classic Doctor Who where they intentionally destroyed a lot of the tapes.

My vote for a remake? Baten Kaitos. The backgrounds are amazing, but oh my goodness do the character models look awful, and the voice acting wasn't great either. Also, rebalancing the battle system would only help.

Spirit Tracks takes place after Phantom Hourglass and Phantom Hourglass takes place after Wind Waker (Gamecube), but there isn't anything that would be confusing. Both of them have unique villains that never show up anywhere else and the only thing you really need to know after Wind Waker is that the characters are sailing around looking for a new country.

Why don't you use MediaGo? It isn't great, but you can buy and download PSP games with it on your computer.

I forgot those were made by Capcom. :-)

100% pure fun.

Think of it like mac 'n cheese.  Not a complex food by any means, but depending on who makes it, it can be enticingly and addictingly delicious or it can be a burnt oily mess.  Zelda is like that really good mac 'n cheese that only your grandma can make.

What he said. One thing about Zelda is that they're kind of in a genre of their own. The worst Zelda game is still a good game on its own. As long as it's actually made by Nintendo.

I can say that compared to Human Revolution, the stealth in the original is a lot more annoying. I mean in the sense that it's really hard to tell if you're sticking out from the cover or not.
