I'm enjoying it a lot, but I seem to have really low standards. I've also never seen or read any Fate/Stay Night media before. I might now.

Part of the reason for the delay between regions might be (at least for North America and Europe) might be the PAL NTSC difference. Vagrant Story runs visibly differently after all.

I bought it yesterday night. It has any number of save files. I like it so far. It's superficially like the Persona games, but in structure, it's actually pretty different.

Ah, Konami. They wish their JRPGs were like everybody elses....*sigh*
Almost a funny thing to say given the overall high acclaim the 2nd and 3rd title get... I almost feel like there is a formula for a PERFECT rpg in the Suikoden universe and gameplay style -- but they're good at mucking it up, or at the very least, putting 70% into what they do than the full 100. At least they aren't taking the Idea Factory/Compile Heart route of jamming as much moe as possible into a game.

Kind of, but it's always nicer to have a physical copy of something because A) you don't need to worry as much about hard-drive space, B) you don't need to worry about the server going down for some reason and C) going out and buying a physical copy of something has a better feeling than just buying it off the internet because you put that much extra effort into the purchase.
Oh, and in terms of premium editions, I concede your point about soundtracks, but some people want posters so they can put them up on a wall, and what about the figurines that tend to come with special editions in Japan, and some American games? There's no good equivalent for downloadable copies.
Ultimately, it would just result in a bunch of fans accusing the company of being cheap.
