241  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Kingdom Hearts HD -1.5 ReMIX- (PS3) and Kingdom Hearts for PC browsers announced on: September 20, 2012, 07:10:03 AM
Actually, if they are leading up to III, this isn't a bad idea. Think about it. The series is on like four different consoles, and they're all important to the story, so this way, it would be possible to play (or watch) all of them on one console.

The closest (not identical) battle system I've seen is Valkyrie Profile's actually. Combine that with locations based on where the current party leader is placed and you basically have it. It's not quite as refined, but that's the general gist of it.

The HD Animation RPG thing refers to traditional animation. Studio 4C provided the animation for pretty much the entire game, so the game is intended to look like you're playing an anime. Not a cel-shaded game with an anime art style, an actual anime.

And we're all kind of confused about the thing with the prince too.

So, Tokitowa has been sorta-kinda confirmed for an English translation.

Oddly, it's brought up that there are absolutely no plans for any other language.

The EBGames around here still stock them, but there haven't been any new ones for months now (like Gungnir). I think they're just trying to sell them off.

Image Epoch themselves seem to want it localized, and that helps a lot, and the chances are otherwise pretty high, since it's a PS3 game. I did mention that it reminded me of Thousand Arms, but that was solely because of the visual style.

Framerate seems kind of low, but that's to be expected. Although the battle system looks a little like the one from Thousand Arms. Actually, a lot of stuff from this reminds me of Thousand Arms and I'm not really sure why.

Tales of Legendia is the one that looks like a PS1 game, and even it doesn't look that bad. It just looks really budget. The only real way in which Abyss is a step back is that it doesn't have cel shading. That's it. Graces looks kind of blah for a PS3 game, especially considering Eternal Sonata, but it's a remake of a Wii game, so I'll give it some slack.

Say what?!  Did you see the scenery in that game?  I thought it looked better than 90% of games

Oh, I meant the character models. I will agree that the backgrounds are amazing. Tales of Legendia is kind of the weird one out though. You can tell that was mostly made by a different team than most of the others. I liked it, but it had a really different feel from the rest of the series.

No, but the final dungeon is an massive tower. Massive by video game standards.

The truly sad part about the whole scenario with games like this.... that is, games where the creepiness of a mini-game or LE content causes a bit of a jaw drop amongst fans....... is that is totally takes precedence over anything relevant to the game itself....

I see this now to be true with Agarest 2.... The game is freakin' GREAT.... it might not be everyone's cup of tea, certainly not, but it deserves WAY more attention then it got.... beyond being just a step up from past IF/CH efforts, it stands in and of itself as one of the best and most original things to happen by way of J-SRPGs on consoles in years....  But alas, it will go down in most peoples memory as "the game that came with a blow-up doll" and not "that game with incedible sprites and a valkyrie profile-esque combat system, with a narrative that blows its prior installments out of the water...." despite the fact that the blow up doll and weird pervy-mini-games are a complete afterthought when it comes to the title itself..... the bathhouse mini-games suck by the way and are by no means anything to get worked up over.....

It sounds like Agarest 2 should have better been a completely new title instead of a sequel to get the interest of more people.

Actually, Agarest 2's plot is a deconstruction of the plot of the first, and it takes place in a parallel version of the world from the first, down to an identical creation myth. It sounds lazy, but they built everything from the ground up, so it ends up actually being pretty unique. The only other thing I've seen that does something similar is the Manifold: Space/Time/Origin series by Stephen Baxter where it takes place in three different universes each with one major difference. It wouldn't work nearly as well as a standalone title.

I got the Agarest Limited edition, but it was because Amazon.ca was sold out of the regular edition. I do want to get the Mugen Souls NISA store limited edition because I want the figures though. I'll just repeat the phrase I've used several times after criticism about my likes and dislikes. A real man (or woman I guess) doesn't care what others think about their interests.

NISA is probably just trying to outdo Aksys with Record of Agarest War. The first one came with an oppai mousepad, and the second one came with an inflatable doll.

I'm going to try the G.U. games soon, but I'm actually borrowing them from someone else in exchange for lending him the Digital Devil Saga games. Rather lopsided trade, it seems.

Didn't they say that they weren't region locking the servers?
