Persona 1 is rather clunky, but Persona 2 Innocent Sin is very good. It is still somewhat old-school, but it doesn't feel nearly as old as Persona 1.

That's one thing I'm happy about with this franchise. Atlus keeps to a consistent level of quality with all their games, and when they don't manage to reach them, they release a sequel that does.

I used Steam a ton when I was living in Switzerland. It locks where you can open an account, not where it can be accessed.

The first two are very clearly connected while the third sets up the multiverse thing.

The thing is, Zone of the Enders was moving in that direction from the start. The first one was pure science fiction where Metatron is just a powersource. The second one moved towards fantasy with all that stuff that pops up about the Metatron. It's not really that strange.

Especially since traditionally Metatron refers to the angel that serves as the voice of God. I always thought it was weird that they named it that and didn't do anything with it.

Oh yes, definitely for the better. It's actually one of the advertised selling points.

That is an odd console combination though.

Least it's better than Tactics Ogre where episodes VI and VII exist and then no other numbered entries were made. Although, the Dept. Heaven series works much better with the messed up timeline than most because each game details a different part of a vast universe at a different time.

Riviera is on the PSN if that helps.

I think one of the best counterpoints to that is actually Ar Tonelico Qoga. The execution was awful, but when you actually look at the plot and setting, there is something there that could have become a bona-fide classic of gaming. In fact, a lot of jRPGs run into that problem. Final Fantasy XIII's setting was really interesting, but the game wasn't designed in a way to utilize it properly. The biggest western games don't even start from an interesting concept. The execution might be amazing, but I don't think anyone could hold Skyrim up as an example of an amazing and fresh concept.

I think another good example of the counterpoint to this is the anime series Vision of Escaflowne. Escaflowne is a mishmash of cliches and there are no individual elements that are even remotely unique. Even the mech in a fantasy world thing had been done by Magic Knight Rayearth earlier. However, they took all those cliches and utilized them so well, that the western anime fandom holds it up as a masterpiece. I don't know how popular it is in Japan.

As far as I know, Riviera is the one at the end of the timeline. Riviera's final villain is the total villain of the series as a whole.

I know this isn't really big news, but some of the big companies, especially Capcom, have been loosing pretty much all of their big name talent. Square Enix has been experiencing it for a while, and I'm kind of curious as to why. The Platinum Games guys, I can understand, but then you get Kenji Inafune who associated himself with Hyperdimension Neptunia of all things.

With Kingdom Hearts though, there were actually games released in the series in between. And they didn't announce Kingdom Hearts 3 or whatever way before they even started it.

If Rising Star did the programming stuff, couldn't XSeed still release it?

Well, this guarantees a better translation than Muramasa at least.

It's just creepy.
