The translation was really bland. It's kind of weird that El Shaddai was the first game that got a good translation. Muramasa was extremely barebones, Arc Rise Fantasia got the horrible voice acting (but the textual translation wasn't that bad), and El Shaddai is the one that could probably get away with a bad translation because it's so insane anyway.

Oh, it definitely doesn't have the slowdown. There are a couple bosses, like the centipede one, that would probably cause a PS2 to explode, but on the Wii, there's no slowdown whatsoever.
288  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Anachronox on: March 28, 2012, 04:57:14 PM
Well, Anachronox is now available on GOG.com for 5.99. I thought I'd make this thread for discussion.

The one thing though, is that even if this attempt fails, the game is still getting a digital release.

I did support it, but the final goal does seem to be kind of high. I don't know that much about how the industry works, but 500K does seem to be somewhat excessive. I do want one of those plushies though.

I'll probably support this.

Although, even though Persona has been emphasized more, they still have a high level of quality. And the PSP Persona titles are nothing but good for North America at least.
293  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: Journey - thatgamecompany's new title on: March 27, 2012, 08:31:09 AM
I'm glad that Sony let thatgamecompany do pretty much whatever they wanted. Imagine the wasted potential if they had been forced to make a full adventure game.

Oh, I thought Amnesia was on Xbox live. But yeah, Capcom's obsession with the west and matching Call of Duty numbers is not going to turn out very well.

The survival horror market for consoles right now is what? Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Amnesia, maybe Corpse Party and pretty much nothing else that is even remotely mainstream. Yeah, that's an oversaturated market right there, especially since all four of those games/series are very different in style.
296  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Sting and Idea Factory performs the Fu-Sion-Ha dance and becomes Super Sting on: March 21, 2012, 11:37:47 AM
Well, as Hakuoki showed, Idea Factory isn't actually that bad at story when its what they focus on.
297  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Conception (Spike PSP Rpg) on: March 19, 2012, 06:25:29 PM
Oh, I thought it was a Vita game.
298  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Conception (Spike PSP Rpg) on: March 19, 2012, 12:02:38 PM
It's a really weird idea, but it doesn't sound like a raunchy game. I'll keep an eye out for a prospective localization of this.
299  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Gust announces new Atelier game: Atelier Meruru on: March 16, 2012, 06:51:59 PM
Ar Tonelico went in a really different direction from Atelier. The character designs look about twelve on average again in the Arland trilogy, but since there is little to no overt fanservice, it doesn't come off nearly as weird.

Yeah...you didn't do the Fish Festival in Totori did you? That's 'moderate' tops. A bit higher than 'a little'. XP

Well, you get my point. I dread what a fourth Ar Tonelico would be like.
