Rogue Galaxy is most reminiscent of Disney's Treasure Planet. It isn't really what one would call modern.

On the off chance of that being true, it won't work. Xenoblade and the Last Story are both rather different from the typical JRPG, at least from what I've seen.

A big part of the problem was the overreliance on the database. When Xenosaga did it, it covered things that would be a waste of time to explain in game, like the technology and random little details. A big chunk of the main plot of FFXIII is in the database, including some of the character motivations.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed XIII, but a unique world always draws me in.

August 19 in Europe.

Shadow Hearts and any of the Persona games fit. Wild ARMs kind of fits as well, with a very strong Western feel. Western as in the genre, not the location the game was made.

I have a friend who didn't like XIII's story, but when I finally got the reason out of her, it turns out that she just didn't like it being character driven almost to an extreme. And the database system was just annoying, but I agree on that point.

Wild ARMs 2, translated by XSeed, not Agetec.

Maybe Bethesda overtaxes the engine or something?

Don't some of the Metal Gear Solid games let you mess around with cutscenes?

Elite Beat Agents.

I like the way the Ar Tonelico series does them. There are a limited number of random encounters in an area, and when the bar is empty, you can explore the area without having to worry about them.

I'm not sure what it is, but Breath of Fire IV does not have the same issues, from what I heard.
358  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: PSone Classics PSN rpgs on: July 08, 2011, 03:28:04 PM
I'm not completely sure, but I remember hearing that Breath of Fire III has copyright issues or something.

The Ps3 is region free. I have the European version of the Prince of Persia trilogy and it works fine on an American tv.

If its true, they're probably just using the European translatation and pretending they helped with it. I might be wrong, but it would make it seem like Nintendo isn't really weak.
