361  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Atlus Opens a New Teaser Site (Persona 4 related?) on: August 25, 2011, 01:44:34 PM
Wasn't Atlus in financial difficulties for a while though?
362  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Konami: The Suikoden Team Has Been Disbanded, We Have Lost Our RPG Know-How on: August 03, 2011, 09:24:28 AM
Part of the problem with Silent Hill is that the new teams didn't really know how to capture the "feel" or the gameplay of the earlier games. If Suikoden is given to a new team, it won't be easy, but not nearly as hard with capturing the feel of the old games.

Things like Shin Megami Tensei and Pokemon where you build your party out of the encounters probably wouldn't work well without them. Being able to dodge encounters would mean that there might be very good demons or pokemon one might never fight.
364  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: A place to decide the best RPG ever. on: July 31, 2011, 04:59:45 PM
I think when something gets added, its put at the bottom, which would mean that if a bad game was added before a good game, it would look like it was ranked higher. I was shocked that Blazing Souls: Accelate was higher than Persona 4.
365  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Breath of Fire IV - August 16th on PSN! on: July 31, 2011, 04:58:35 PM
I liked Breath of Fire 2, but the fan retranslated version. I had no idea what was going on in the original Capcom badly translated version. It was really obvious they weren't used to games with a large amount of text.
366  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Square Enix Producers discuss Final Fantasy 20 and Dragon Quest 20 on: July 28, 2011, 07:36:30 PM
The others responded with A) not to ask because he would corrupt the series, B) FF20 will be an open world game with a time travelling protagonist that will go through the past 19 games and C) a smellovision Final Fantasy. The interview really wasn't meant to be taken seriously.
367  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: 3DS vs. Vita - which will be the RPG'ers choice? on: July 28, 2011, 03:50:54 PM
The only company that seems to have confirmed RPGs for the 3DS is Atlus, at least as far as I know.
368  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: MGS, SH and ZOE HD collections announced on: July 26, 2011, 02:16:16 PM
Metal Gear Solid 2 had some interesting ideas, but the ending was butchered because of the 9/11 paranoia. 3 is a more complete and polished product overall.

2 also had miss "I want to die but bullets miss me! For some reason knives or jumping off a bridge never occured to me! Boo-hoo!"
369  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon on: July 26, 2011, 02:13:41 PM
It sounds a bit like the type of movie 2001 and Citizen Kane are. Most people won't really enjoy watching them, but the experience will stay with them. 2001 at least, I just didn't really like Citizen Kane. Felt too much like a personal attack to me.
370  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Mega Man Legends 3 on: July 24, 2011, 07:22:03 PM
Street Fighter 3DS did really well.
371  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: In an age of re-makes, I wish... (outside the realm of Square) on: July 24, 2011, 07:07:05 PM
Does Square Enix own the rights? I honestly don't know.
372  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: In an age of re-makes, I wish... (outside the realm of Square) on: July 24, 2011, 01:06:28 PM
I think the Soul Blazer trilogy (Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma) need another chance. Especially Terranigma. Get Level 5 to do them. They've proved their good with that type of game with the Dark Cloud games.
373  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: 1UP: Why the Golden Age of JRPGs is Over on: July 23, 2011, 09:52:24 AM
I think this is mostly a "Graphics vs Aesthetics" thing going on here.
374  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Can you name some "modern fantasy" RPGs? on: July 22, 2011, 06:40:25 PM
Rogue Galaxy is most reminiscent of Disney's Treasure Planet. It isn't really what one would call modern.
375  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: 1UP: Why the Golden Age of JRPGs is Over on: July 22, 2011, 02:29:29 PM
On the off chance of that being true, it won't work. Xenoblade and the Last Story are both rather different from the typical JRPG, at least from what I've seen.
