Bear in mind, the companies that do that the most, like Bethesda or Bioware, tend to release big DLC chunks over the course of a year and a half or so, not all at once.

Wow, Atelier Shallie's opening has exactly the opposite mood to Meruru. Shallie is all somber and low-key and quiet, while Meruru's opening literally screams in your face the instant it starts.

It's kind of interesting how the two different trilogy ends seem to have such opposite feels.

I'm on the hype train; if this isn't the best Zelda ever.... I'll be real sad (while I play Xenoblade X).

And of course there will be people claiming that this is the worst Zelda ever and Skyward Sword is suddenly one of the greatest. Seriously, that happens every single time a console Zelda game comes out. For some reason, the handheld games don't follow the same cycle.

I do sort of get why they did the accents, since the voice acting in Dragon Quest VIII was very well received, but that's just the thing. It was voice acting. Sure, you get the occasional person who is apparently incapable of understanding any English accent but their own, but that isn't very common. The V and VI got the occasional word or local idiom in a phonetic style giving the different areas a bit more of a flavor, but IV made some of the characters incomprehensible. Oh, now I'm just happy they didn't dub IV. Can you imagine all the horrible Russian and Scottish accents?

Sort of. They sold out almost completely, but I think the print runs were kind of low. IX apparently sold a ton. But keep in mind, Bravely Default selling well was a legitimate surprise for Square Enix since they'd picked up the idea somewhere that JRPGs don't sell.

Is the VITA really so bad that no one will buy it, even for Type-0? Hell, the "Playstation TV" could probably play it. People would get that!

I just realized. Deus Ex Human Revolution has a poster for Final Fantasy XXVII in the year 2027. That would require a release yearly, including this year.

Aaand it just clicked why it's number 27. Because that's the year it takes place in.

Wasn't Catherine Gamebryo? Probably the best game using it.

Catherine is very heavily scripted, so it would be much easier to bug test. So, I guess basically, Gamebryo seems to work better, when the games are linear and have no open world elements. Too bad Bethesda only really makes open world games.

Its all a matter of perspective- when I had a 360, I was perfectly fine with Fallout 3, and Oblivion.  If I had to reload because of a minor bug, or a quest line glitched out- oh well. 

However, later I sold the 360 and used ps3 exclusively.  Having that platform for Skyrim was maddening- words don't describe watching your games framerate slowing turn into a worsening slideshow over 30 hours of play upon which it was finally nearly unplayable.  I'd start to dread entering/going near towns where it was at worst and at that point i put the game down, never to return. 

And before people criticize- i'm a console gamer only, no "get a pc" posts please.  The point is, the game released on ps3, it should work.  And from what I've read, this isn't isolated.  Fallout 3, New Vegas, I hear were also disasters on ps3, because Bethesda couldn't figure out how to manage the memory space they had to work with on ps3.   

Yeah, I agree. Something like the dragons flying backwards? Hilarious glitch that doesn't really impact the game much, and is fine as long as it's dealt with eventually. Horrible framerates and game crashing bugs? Not excusable.

Bethesda doesn't seem to have much of a QA department. That might be the biggest problem.

Time and Eternity has kind of a soft spot with me. Sure it isn't very good, but the story just makes so many dumb twists and turns, and everyone has such stupid motivations, that it starts moving into the so bad it's good category. It never really makes it, but for me at least it wasn't horrible. I don't recommend it, but since it was a birthday present, I didn't really lose anything.

Some of those games stuff those scenes in almost at random. It's why the anime adaptations don't tend to have any noticeable missing elements in the plots, because excising them doesn't do anything. This isn't always the case, as the scene with the CG dragon in the first Fate/Stay Night anime will tell you.

Also, the clean version for consoles is a common enough phenomenon that I'm guessing any company with big enough ambitions will intentionally design the game so the sex scenes can easily be removed without hurting anything.

The plot writing in 4 was just bad. There were really interesting ideas, and the character interaction was pretty good, but the "Kids vs Adults" thing was really weird and the game occasionally dropped random bizarre elements in optional conversations. I remember that in some laboratory place, there was a completely out of place reference to evolution "just being a theory with no evidence". It was an optional thing that I got by accident, but it was just so random that it sticks in my mind.

In Wild Arms 5, the biggest problem is just that Dean isn't just an idiot hero. He's a complete moron.
