This is truly a mystery.

It doesn't really matter, my first Atelier was Atelier Iris 2.

I am particularly fond of the battle system. The "cards" at the top. Especially when you get the character who's speciality is manipulating them. I've never really seen that done before.

curious Starmongoose, how are the Atelier games different from Mana Khemia and the Atelier games not released here, I was gonna play Iris but decided on Mana instead (no real reason, just grabbed it first, lol) but now you have me curious about differences.

Well, the Atelier Iris games are more like your traditional RPG, questing to save the world from the evil bad guy, but with a strong focus on item creation. Though really you only need to make an item once because when you create it the first time you can then replicate it by spending Elements, which you collect by breaking down objects. Like breaking a rock gets you Stone elements and breaking a shrub gets you Water and Wood elements.

The Atelier games that were never brought over here were less about the saving the world and more about meeting the deadlines. Item creation was probably more in depth as well, to make up for lack of emphasis on battle. You are pretty much relegated to making things the hard way at all times, not handy dandy elements.

Mana Khemia is like a happy medium. You have your deadlines for creating items, but also a reason to battle, since there is a villian who needs stopping. My favourite of all the games.

Atelier Annie is a lot more like the Atelier games that were never brought over here. Atelier Violet and so on. Atelier Iris and Mana Khemia are, while still pretty much in the same vein, quite different.

Yes. :P Go to your cauldron and synth it.

I'm pretty sure one of the first areas that open up to you has a water source. :/ Pure Water is the basic ingredient when it comes to Atelier. It's usually right next to you.

Probably from a spring or a lake? You would think. Just check around water sources.

Been playing Wild Arms 3 all day. I liked the first one. The second gave me a headache. So far, I'm enjoying this one.

Mana Khemia is IMO good, really, really good...

Speaking of Atelier, I finally found myself playing Atelier Annie. It's kind of fun. Still overwhelming how everything happens but... I should like it better after a few more hours with it.

I'm a fan of Atelier series but I didn't like Annie as much as the others.

Haha fair enough star.  I wasn't trying to say people shouldn't be mad so to speak, but that it shouldnt be as surprising as I think some people take it as?  I dunno.  I mean it sucks, both companies were great when they started, but then they got bigger, and that always seems to lead to problems.

I see where you are coming from. I mean, people die all the time, but you can't get pissed off about every single death, you gotta move on. I just don't think it can be applied to everything.

People care about what SquareEnix do. Especially here. As gamers and people who love RPGs, we probably invested a lot of emotion and time into the games they used to make. So when people see them do stuff like this, they are crying out so that they may see the harm they are doing, before it is too late.

I've always hated that "What did you expect?" argument. As if that somehow negates peoples anger/disappointment about something, because they should have expected it.

I could say "what did you expect" to your comment about being surprised that people are still angry over things they were supposed to expect and thus not be angry about.

But I won't. Because it would create a blackhole.

Yes.

My dad bought us two new sofa's a couple of days ago. They are so awesome. Probably weird saying that sofa's are awesome, but when your previous sofa for the past 6 months was the mattress from a sofa-bed ontop of planks of wood, you learn to love the small things in life.
