Anxiously hoping the Alternative Voting system gets enough support in the UK.

What is that?

The way the current British voting system works is each person gets one vote for one political party. It's not a very good system, as their are so many political parties here you can end up with a party in power which only 30% of the population voted for. That means 70% of the population gets a leader they do not want.

The alternative voting system is basically: You give as many political parties as you want a number. The party you want to win the most gets a "1", the one after that gets a "2" and so on.

In the end the party with the least votes get's knocked out of the race, if it was your number 1, your vote will go to your number 2. If your number 2 gets knocked out of the race your vote goes to your number 3 choice. And so on until we have a winner with more than 50% of the vote.

A comparison I liked that helped people understand it was it is basically just like The X Factor (Or American idol, or whatever). You have 12 potential singers that the public vote on each week, the one with the least votes gets sent home and the vote happens again the next week with the remaining 11 singers.

Basically the UK's current voting system is like the person with the most votes out of the 12 singers is the immediate winner, rather than narrowing down the contestants each week until you get a result which over half of the voters are happy with. It's not very good.

Not all badasses are RPGfans, but certainly all RPGfans are badasses.

I know about your Us.

I thought you were Scottish? Don't make William Wallace cry

I have no problem being British :P I do get REALLY cranky when people call us English though. Or just use England as a catch-all term for Britain. Call it petty or whatever, but I know a lot of people here don't like it at all. It's mostly because when Scottish people do something of note they are usually called British-born, and then people start calling them English eventually.

It's just trying to break that Groundskeeper Willy stereotype we encounter when we go abroad.

@Mesh: For the record I don't sound like this. I never really had a particularly strong accent to begin with, but when I moved to Ireland I had to pretty much phase out whatever little accent I had to make people understand me, so I now speak like people from the BBC.

Anyway, here is what people from Glasgow sound like.

(Also, just to note, I do not like this comedian)

When I was a five year old I would have recursive dreams about kittens being killed or rather the same kitten killed in numerous troubling ways and when I woke up I couldn't tell if it was real or not.

That explains so much.

Apparently Gamestation don't DO refunds. I never even knew that was legal.

I had a ten minute argument with the manager and he would only let me exchange the memory card for another item of equal value.

"I suck at Witcher"

"Take away the at Witcher"

You don't really suck Rob.

This is what happens when you are consistently truthful on the Internet, the one time you decided to be ironic you hurt someones feelings.
