I have no problem being British :P I do get REALLY cranky when people call us English though. Or just use England as a catch-all term for Britain. Call it petty or whatever, but I know a lot of people here don't like it at all.
It's mostly because when Scottish people do something of note they are usually called British-born, and then people start calling them English eventually.
It's just trying to break that Groundskeeper Willy stereotype we encounter when we go abroad.
@Mesh: For the record I don't sound like this. I never really had a particularly strong accent to begin with, but when I moved to Ireland I had to pretty much phase out whatever little accent I had to make people understand me, so I now speak like people from the BBC.
