I cannot believe all the comments Kim gets about her reviewing the game, because she is a woman. First of all, have you considered that perhaps there are straight men who do not appreciate the painfully in your face childish humour and unnecessary amount of female objectification? Even if they did enjoy it as a man, and it pandered to their primal instincts - being a reviewer is a purely cerebral job and you must take yourself away from that.

If it was a straight woman reviewing lesbian porn, perhaps then you should look elsewhere for an opinion but frankly, in my eyes, Ar Tonelico 3 is an RPG and should be reviewed with the same standards as any other RPG. If it wants to be porn, classify itself as an eroge game with some gameplay and bits of a story tacked on. If it wants to be an RPG, it has to measure up to the games that came before.

Just watched A Game of Thrones.

It. was. AWESOME! I've never seen an adaptation follow the source material so closely before. It was perfect. I think I'm going really enjoy watching this.

Misc comments:

My boyfriend and I have never seen so many fucking tits. Seriously, naked females galore. To be fair though, there was a nice group of shirtless guys at one point.

I have high hopes for the actors playing Tyrion and Cersei. They are damn good.

Sansa is older looking that what I had pictured in my head, but that may have been my own fault.

CUTE PUPPIES!

I had a dream last night that I managed to observe the staff forums by exploiting some glitch (I wouldn't know where to start exploiting glitches, but dream-me is awesome at it) and what did I see? Dice and Yoda posting on there!!!! RAGE! They aren't staff! Eventually by reading their posts I discovered that they are infact spies hired by RPGfan to check on member activities and report back to them.

I feel so betrayed.

So from what it looks like, this is the Tell Us About What You're Playing Thread? Is it?

I have no idea, I just talk about boobs on this thread.

Am I wrong?

Yes

Will I be hated for this post?

The rest of the forum goers are now grabbing pitchforks as I type this. Me, I'm just making a vanilla cream pie, so you wont have to worry about me.

This is a new and scary forum. Why can't we just talk about what games we're playing right now? And boobs too, DPK. Boobs can be nice on occasion.

Talking about games is what the Game Journal is for.  This is for REEEL LAAIFE stuff.  Though it can involve "I sat on my ass and played games", you could probably also mention what you ate (Star/Yoda), philosphy and self and other loathing (Mesh), disturbing job stories (Leyv) or the lack of life you have because you study all the goddamn time (several of us, I'm sure, but I count myself here as well).

I'm confused. I thought this was the Game Journal? I never talk about food here, I miss the Food Thread. The food thread was awesome. It made me hungry. Gah! See what you have done? Now i'm talking about food in the Game Journal. Vile trickery!!

On topic: I've being playing Final Fantasy Tactics for the first time (So sue me) these past couple of days. It's really fun actually but my god it is hard. You are always out numbered, the random encounters level up with you and it's annoying when you cast a spell on an enemy and the enemy moves next to a bunch of your units when you are charging the spell and you end up killing half your team!

Other things I have learned whilst playing Final Fantasy Tactics: The Archers "Concentrate" skill does not stack with the Theifs "Steal" skills, so it was a waste of time gathering all that JP for him.

Do not name your White Mage after your little sister, because you will be traumatized when she dies.

Do not try and have all your mages as males and all your fighters as females. The game does not appreciate that.

Let's get back on track here.  I am a big fan of a good story in a game, I will even put myself through some less than stellar gameplay, as long as I'm digging the narrative.  Yes, despite all that was wrong with XS II, I played through it.  That being said, I think what Eusis was commenting on is that the JRPGs just aren't packing strong stories these days, and if you're really looking for a standout story, maybe video games aren't the best medium.  There are some great JRPGs in the PS2 era that I have no doubt would be worth your time.  I really enjoyed the Suikoden games, because the story took me on such a great journey - I love being surprised and blindsided.

Suikoden really took me by surprise. It's been less than a year since I actually played the first one, I posted about it back in the last Game Journal. I really wasn't expecting a lot from it, but I had nothing else to play at the time and I fell in love. I don't know if I loved it so much BECAUSE it took me by surprise, or it is just that good. I'm going for just that good, I've played every one bar 3 now. For such a large cast they give everyone a decent personality. Kudos to them.

Watched the Rocky Horror Picture Show again last night since it was on TV. I love that movie. I rated the songs in order of personal preference. I think it went something like this, last to first.

Last: Hot Patootie - Bless my Soul
Eddie
Sword of Damocles
Dammit Janet
I Can Make You A Man
Time Warp
Rose Tint My World
Touch-A, Touch-A, Touch Me
Over at the Frankenstein Place
Sweet Transvestite
I'm Going Home
Science Fiction/Double Feature
First: Superheroes

No, yes, yes, no, no, maybe

But not in that order.

I hate you so much right now. If you don't tell me the exact order I will harbor a grudge against you that will mainfest into full-blown revenge 40 years later. But not in that order.

In the drawer of your desk you will find a clue that will take you to another location, there you will meet an Austrian man called "Schwarzer Käse". Tell him you are an representative of the American Appreciation Society for Underappreciated Grandparents, he will give you a peice of paper, on that peice of paper there is a map of the sewers of Paris, however if you turn it upside down and use the light from the Statue of Liberty's torch to shine on it, it will reveal another map within the map. Follow that map until you reach an abandoned building, in that building is a safe. Do not open the safe. Instead, switch on the gramophone which will be near by - it will play a recorded message. Do what that message tells you.

When you reach the final location, await my phone call.

They were making fun of the lighting in the game. Y'know, literally dark. They weren't real suggestions.

...

I totally knew that, I was just making sure you did too.

Are we talking "dark" in terms of what a goth teenager writes in their diary and calls poetry? In my eyes a good dark story has to have light to be juxtaposed against. A long string of dark events would not tug your emotions as much as a few dark moments mixed in with brighter, more joyous moments.

There are trees that smell like semen? Wow. I never even knew that. It sounds magicallll~~~~

Given the topic -- I hate how white that pokemon is.

:< You leave Oshawott alone!

Go take your nasty artistic eye elsewhere, you already ruined Devil Survivor art for me!
