I would'nt be surprised if there was Rule 34 for this game considering i've been hearing about this game a lot. Though it should be very interesting to play an anthromorphic game.
17  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Freakin' Hard Boss!!! on: June 28, 2011, 03:40:25 PM
The boss that gave me the most trouble that I can remember was Miguel from Chrono Cross. Square did a great job making a bitch of a boss look like a complete pushover.
I second this, he was a prick with his glowy lightsaber., and MAIN CHARACTER being a dark element at the time. Goddamnit SE put out a PSP port of chrono cross already!

I third this. it was very hard to keep your entire party alive due to Whitesword and the face your main had a weakness to white elements. Don't even try to bring any characters who innate element is black due to that skill itself.
Though for that boss fight it introduce some needed stragegy against him. Though the later Lynx fight was pretty nasty as well, But the....

Dario fight tops them all considering it is the hardest fight in the game which gives you a very strong weapon that makes the later bosses a lot more tolerable.

Well for me the only tales games i've playes was Destiny and Enternia. Though i prefer Enternia more considering the battle system was a lot more easier to get into considering it was quite fun to do combos with your party members especially starting the game on hard mode. (I've beat the game in normal) But it was more sastifying playing the game on harder difficulty considering at least there was a good challenge and not the balanced normal difficulty.

Wow that was brilliant. Some of the news articles got me completely fooled especially the Half Month Hero one. Till i looked at the date. Glorious April Fools Prank RPGFan.

Whew finally completed the game. Didn't even know the dragon eggs existed till i found out where the location of the egg dragon was.

It was in the well in the first town in the well. Basically mostly likely you will have to trigger that event in order to obtain the eggs. Which is by beating certain bosses wthin a certain time limit. Which is how i got Dragon Egg 6, and 7 during the final battles on doom island.

Though what was more interesting is what happened after the ending.
Basically Iris and Arek talking and the Dual Blade appears and stops time sending iris backwards in time. Meaning if this is right. New Game Plus+ and the alternate ending.

Data will be saved If you continue, something will happen in Iris future.

Yeah i do that. for the treasure chests, and bosses so i can always go back there and hope for the rare item drop from the grotto bosses.

Including which maps that are good for leveling, and certain treasure ranked chests. So i can easily tell with the guide there at GameFAQ's which monsters spawn there.

I also prefer to use dragon's den site. for the chest ranks since they're easy to keep track of as well as the treasure map searcher there.

Yup i've haven't been ignoring the DQVC since this week DQVC got me some Sainted Soma from there which i was finally able to make me an Agate of Evolution.  Though i wonder what next weeks will be?

Oh and my highest level Treasure Map is Lv. 78 Sapphire Maze of Regret (It's a Ruin Type grotto  completed)
Followed by a Lv. 75 Gold Tundra of Death, and Lv. 69 Silver Crypt of Woe which i received from quest 58

But i did get a crappy map called Platinum Path of Joy Lv. 36 the other day.
But i do have three others that i need to start on and they're all crypt type grottoes/
One at Lv. 61, one at Lv 70, and the other Lv 77. Before i've started revocating.
23  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Dragon Quest IX on: September 25, 2010, 07:11:35 PM
That's true though but the only classes i've revocated back to Lv 1 is Warrior and Martial Artist. Going to work on Thief though for the special accessory that helps make stealing easier.

Right now the only item that i have made that requires an orb is the Sage Stone.
I'm sure Magical Mending would affect it since it's an Healing Item.

Plus i am going to start to hate making those Agates since some quests need them.
Plus i really would rather not make too many gold bars of my own since the ingredients to make them are staggering namely the Sainted Soma, and Birdsong Nectar's
24  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Dragon Quest IX on: September 25, 2010, 06:42:40 PM
Even if that's true Cyril. You do need that ultimate gear in order to get a 100% completion for the Alchenomicon.

The only items i've gotten so far from the ulimate armor set is the Brain Drainer, and the Apprentice's Gloves.

Basically upgrading to their true ultimate rarity five star tier armor (and weapons too) is going to require Agate of Evolutions, and Reset Stones if you fail to sucessfully get it to it's final tier. As well as the orbs from each of the legacy bosses.
Heck one of the items to make an Agate of Evolution the Chronocrystal cost about 50,000 GP.

Though i would'nt start working on making those ultimate weapons & armor till i make most, or all the equipment that needs items for example like.
Sainted Soma
Lucky Pendant
Monarchic Mark
Sorcerer's Stones
Gold Bar

Basically the Extra Quests you get from the DQVC. Quite a bit of them are story related plot. after the main game is beaten.
26  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Post examples of good Writing in RPGs on: September 20, 2010, 11:26:03 AM
Well for me Dragon Quest IX had some really good writing espcially with much post game story related DLC quests. Especially the one involving Stornway and Brigadoom history. As well as learning more background on many of the characters.
27  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Dragon Quest IX on: September 18, 2010, 07:03:59 PM
Well for me since i've already compelted the main story line. I'm going to have to say the DLC quests are going to be hard namely Quest 136. which i've just finished by luck. Though the only quests i've have left at the moment are Quest 132, 59, and 117. Though quest 59 will require a lot of luck since the item in question is part of the Metal slime set.

Oh and this week DQVC is Dragon Quest III Themed Items.  Some of the items there namely the combat top cost 13,500 GP. more affordable than the one at stornway for 27,000 Gold.
28  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Help needed - difficult RPGs? on: February 21, 2010, 05:48:53 PM
Valkyrie Profile 1 on Easy is quite difficult.  Not so much if you play it on Hard.

Agreed unless you count the Seraphic Gate and you can only complete 100% of the map on hard mode giving the requirements to get the hidden characters as well as the strongest equipment.

Now for SRPG's Try playing Rondo of Swords on the DS or Even Hosigami Ruining Blue Earth and see how difficult those games. The latter required tremendous amount of grinding for leveling and devotion levels and getting the two secret deities requires a bit of switching deities.
29  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: What feature in one/few RPGs should they all have? on: February 21, 2010, 05:23:55 PM
You know how if you die in any battle in SaGa/FFL2 you have the option of restarting that battle with the same amount of hit points and shit you had at the beginning of that battle? That's something that I think most RPGs could really benefit from.

That is a good idea but you do know you lose that option at almost near the end of the game due to fighting the boss that grants you that.

Though i really do not know how they handled that on the DS remake.
30  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: The selectable difficulty levels in RPGs topic on: October 05, 2009, 01:41:48 PM
For me it's Normal unless i already beaten the same game then it's Hard. For the Valkyrie Profile Hard Mode since VP Hard Mode was like Easy Mode and the other two Normal and Easy just made the game harder. Plus Hard is required to complete 100% of the Bonus Dungeon.

Tales of Enternia on the other hand i beat the game in normal and started killing things in less time. I decided on hard mode since it's gave me the sastifaction of grining even more then normal mode did at all. Plus it helped a lot on increasing my skill useage from Reid and Farah.
