I never got my hands on the Plus version of Rorona but I'm planning to when there's a discount.
The only thing I didn't like much in Rorona were some characters. I found Lionela to be kind of boring and also that music guy.

Other then the graphics and the battle music I think the original still holds up.

After months playing it I finally finished Mana Khemia on the Vita and I just wrote a review for it on my blog.

I have to say I liked it very much. There were some characters like Muppy which felt thrown in for whatever reason, it just felt like he didn't belong in the game but at least I could use him to make some alchemy items using the board.
Playing on the Vita was a plus comparing to the PSP as the long load times were gone so that was a plus.
Also there are some weeks in the game that not much of anything interesting happened and it was a shame because near the end the story starts to get very intriguing.

Now I'm thinking of playing either Ar Tonelico 2 or Mana Khemia 2. Although for At Tonelico I didn't play the first one so I hope I will be okay.
3  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Dragon Quest XI announced for PS4 and 3DS on: July 29, 2015, 08:31:23 AM
I like Dragon Quest, but I do hope they eventually ditch some of the archaic elements such as random turn order in battle and endless dialogue/confirmations when shopping and saving.

Many times this. Saving in DQ takes forever.
Also, another thing I'd love for them to get rid of are the convoluted and clunky menus. When they are pleasing on the eyes and well thought out, like VIII it seems it takes forever to go from a screen to the next. For example when you want to move items from the inventory to the characters bag. You can only move one by one and it feels like there's a delay just to piss you off.

I'll get the PS4 version. Now for the announcement, I'm really glad they decided to go multiplat for this title. This will probably please everyone on the fanbase. Japan probably would prefer a portable version of the game, especially there where it appears everyone has a 3DS these days. Here in the west we will finally get a game looking like DQVIII, probably better. (Just saw the trailer, well, it looks many times better)

I have some mixed feelings towards the Dragon Quest series but I'm happy for this announcement.

I guess it's never easy to make a top ten, especially when you are getting close to the tenth position and you feel you left some great candidates out but here's my list:

1.   Final Fantasy VII - My first RPG and it's been hard to beat it.
2.   Persona 4 Golden - Every time I play it I love it more. One day I think it may acquire the number one spot.
3.   Final Fantasy X - The first game that made me lose track of time, I can't say how much fun I've had with this one.
4.   Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - One of the best games that made me feel I was immersed in the world. Never before I felt like I made a difference as much as this game.
5.   Final Fantasy Tactics - I've lost count how many times I've beat it. Too bad I was never able to fully understand the plot.
6.   Valkyrie Profile 2 - Loved the story and the combat. The visual were fantastic back then.
7.   Mass Effect 2 - As opposed to the first game this has a more character driven story and for me it payed off really well. Not to mention the great setting, scenarios and gameplay.
8.   Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn - I can believe how many times I played it. Unfortunately I could never beat it. I found a cave full of Beholders and never managed to pass the second one...
9.   Valkyria Chronicles - Fantastic combat, lovely graphic filter and awesome strategy gameplay! Some stages were a little too hard but still it is an amazing game.
10.   Fire Emblem Awakening - I was surprised myself this game made it here to the list. This was my first FE but I can't say how much I loved it.

As much as I hate to admit I guess I'm a huge fan of SRPGs. Even a game that isn't an SRPG per say may have a deep strategy needed and one can see many like these on my list.

6  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: SMTxFE (aka 'GIRFE', aka 'PerformaEmblem') on: July 05, 2015, 10:37:22 AM
Am I the only one that like it? Sure I would never had guessed when they decided to combine Fire Emblem with SMT they would go with something like this but I welcome the change.
It's only a spin off and one we'll hardly see a sequel soon, so I'll just enjoy it.

Personally I welcome this shift in tone, this lighthearted and colorful theme seems like something I will enjoy. If we think about it, it seems like the opposite of Catherine which I liked a lot.

I loved the trailer, full of style. Pretty sad I don't have a Wii U and probably won't for a very long time but at least it's coming.

I have interest in getting the game but I've built myself a backlog of Atelier games. I'm close to finishing Mana Khemia and haven't even started Escha & Logy, so once I finish the second one I'll probably get this new one and hopefully by then I'll finally be able to get the plus version on the Vita.

I'm glad Atlus took their time to make this game because from what I've seen so far I'm already loving it!
I loved the character design. Sure it's only 3 but they seem all likable!

Also, loved the scene MC is the the classroom and the teacher throws something at him.

I sent my two codes to Zshade and Farron :)

Thanks a lot!

I also would like a code if that is possible.

I've always tried to get into monster hunter. While there's some things that interest me some design choices always left me out but the little I'm seeing from this new one it seems to have some changes that might be for my tastes.

Well, since a bunch of PS2 oldies are coming to PS3 as "PS2 Classics" we can only hope to see them. I don't know if the rights to it should be NISA or TecmoKoei which now own Gust, but whatever the case it seems both of them are releasing their old games for PSN. If niché games like GrimGrimoire and Odin Sphere are being put there (although they are published by Atlus) I still have hope to see some Atelier games.
13  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: The Atelier Series on: November 25, 2014, 06:50:09 AM
I know the game is old but recently I decided to get Mana Khemia from the PS store fro the Vita. I knew beforehand the port didn't run well on the PSP but I read somewhere it ran pretty good on the Vita and I can confirm it does.
It does take a while the get used to the muddy backgrounds but the game is great. It starts slow but the characters, the battle, the level up system, the alchemy, it all works so well and they all make the game so much fun.

I became a fan of the Atelier series during the PS3 era so I didn't play any of the previous ones. I didn't have much expectations for this game but I can safely say it surpassed them already and I'm only about 12 hours in.
If anyone here is like me and started playing the Atelier series recently and didn't play the old games, I can already recommend this game. From what I've seen playing it on a PS2 should be much better since it has better visual, loadings (although the Vita loads it instantly) and dual audio which the PSP version doesn't have.

I bought this game while waiting for my copy of Escha & Logy to arrive from mail and now it is still closed while I play this game.

So, anyone else have played this or the sequel, Mana Khemia 2?

I see. Well, good thing I decided to ask. As fun as the combat is seeing the same scenery all the time kind of gets to you.
15  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Tales of PlayStation(s) revealed on: October 13, 2014, 09:45:48 PM
I know I'm late to the party, very late actually, but I just beat Tales of Xillia. In short I liked it so much I decided to write a review for it, my personal thoughts on where I think the game shines and where it could be better.
If anyone would like to check it out, I'd really appreciate it.

So, after enjoying the game so much I'm wondering on getting Xillia 2. The question is if now or later. For those who have played it, is it too similar because if it is I might get burned out a little bit.
I saw some reviews saying many areas are the same but are the characters and all worth it for me to jump straight into the sequel I perhaps I should give it some more time.

Oh, and how does the sequel compare to the original? About the same?
