16  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Atelier Project 16 Announced on: March 17, 2014, 05:48:55 PM
I also wouldn't be surprised for another Vita version of the prior game.
Seems like it's the plan that every game gets a 'plus' version.

That's the one sad thing for me about the Atelier franchise. Why not a simultaneous release? Giving the relaxing nature of Atelier games I'd love to have them on the Vita but I'm not too happy about buying the same game twice unless it's a for a huge discount.

About the new Atelier design, I loved it! I like the new protagonist has a "normal" look, for a change.
I still haven't got Eischa & Loggy because my backlog is still big like mentioned, but once I beat one of my JRPGs I'll make this a priority.

I'm glad we're getting it. Being Sega a little inconsistent to bring some of their stuff I could say I had no worries about P5 but I was a little worried about Persona Q and Dancing all night.

By the way anyone, do you know if Sega is letting Atlus work by itself?
I mean, Atlus USA seems to be doing their business as usual, right? Still having their liberties to publish some games here and there, being those games Atlus's games or not.

I got to year 3 month 8. I think have done so many optional sttof that I wasted to much time an d for some reason I can't manage to go to the right places to trigger the story to move on.

Even looking around it seems I got all the wrong flowers in favor of mandatory ones.
I fear the bad ending is coming and I'm not sure if I'll have time to pick back in a long time.

Edit: So I managed to beat it in time! I had a really good time with it!
So I wrote a small review of it on my blog if anyone wants to check it out. It pretty much sums up my impressions with the 4 games of the series I played but focusing on Ayesha.
The only sad thing about the atelier series I forgot to mention is like Cyril said, they are meant to be replayed but I'm not much into replaying games after I've just beat them. At best I would give the game a few months to go back to them.

I thought the game ended on year 3, sorry, my mistake.
I just hot access to the desert and before looking it up now and you guys mentioning I didn't know I had to collect some flowers to get a better ending.
I don't plan on getting everything anymore, especially on my first run, but I did want to see at least a "normal" ending. The ending most people would get without looking a guide or something.

I kind of feel bad because I liked the game but for some reason I got really confused in the alchemy system in this game as compared to the previous ones.
Rorona was my first atelier game but by the time I hit Meruru I was pretty comfortable with it. When I got Ayesha it seemed like I was back to square one. On one hand I see it as a good thing so it doesn't get stale but the other hand I kind wished I could've gotten used to it faster.

So, Atelier Escha & Loggy will be released next month. With that in mind I decided to go back to Ayesha. For some reason I ended up not finishing it.
While I do like the game for me the previous two atelier games were better.

So, I'd like to ask something for those who have finished and have some memory of the story. I'm at the part where I just got access to Hornheim, together with the balloons and the Homunculus Village. Anyone remembers if I'm far from the end? That's because I only have one year left.
Also, I didn't trigger a scene or anything special going there, I wonder if I missed something...

Based on the gameplay video it seems it'll have as much comedy as the regular show has. As for gameplay itself I like that the combat is turn based, I just hope the game doesn't end up being too streamlined and you have some freedom to explore and level up.
I gotta say, I was skeptical about it but now I'm actually thinking of picking it up.

So guys, I wrote a review for the game on my blog if anyone would like to check it out.
Overall I liked the quite quite a bit! I would not say it's amazing as some sites claim it to be but at the price I got it ($20) I think it was well worth the price of admission.

So, for those that know nothing about this, it's a visual novel, which has already been adapter to an anime show and now we get a game for the PS Vita.
I'm not even sure if this Vita version is the same as the PSP version that was released in Japan.

Regardless, this game seems to be getting great reviews all across the board, even here on RPGFan.

So, is anyone interested in it ?
I know I am, after playing 999, Zero Escape, Corpse Party and Song of Saya I've been much more receptive to Visual Novels. Not that I ever had anything against them I just think playing them with a portable device to be way more comfortable.

So, anyone have any impressions on it?
I'm personally planning to get it as soon as I clear a few games on my backlog.

I just decided to try the demo since I had to create a NNID to download the free Zelda game.
So far I'm liking quite a bit! I'm just a bit confused about the friends list. I though it was going to load up our friends we already have or does this NNID changes everything from the old Friend Code days?
I never took my 3DS online capabilities seriously, not even with Pokemon but now that I can get bonus on a game I will probably like for real I'm kind of interested.
So, anyone knows how this works?
25  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, The Last 13 Days on: January 29, 2014, 11:33:46 AM
Played the demo yesterday and from what I've seen I really liked it!
I love that for the first time in the XIII series I can have full control of my "party".
Also liked the defend option during combat. It isn't game changing but at least it's an incentive to look for monsters patterns and not relying too much on healing.
Unfortunately for me, I don't think I'll be able to get it on release as I still have a ton of games I got in Christmas, add the fact that I'm still playing FFXIV but I'll surely get it!
26  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Bravely Default: Flying Fairy on: January 25, 2014, 11:09:05 AM
With the negative reactions from the demo I think I'll just wait for the complete game.
Like someone mentioned here there are games that may cause you a horrible impression, like Tales of Vesperia demo but actual game was great.

By the way, anyone knows if the game will be available on the eShop?
I sure prefer the physical version for my 3DS games but I spent to much on Christmas plus I still have 40 something on account thanks the SMTIV+ Fire Emblem promotion.
27  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Tales of PlayStation(s) revealed on: January 15, 2014, 08:24:11 AM
Graces seems to have the most loved battle system, or at least one of the most but I totally agree with Nel, give me my MP back.
I didn't have much trouble using it but I never figured out a way to make it good.
About the rest of the game I personally didn't like it much. I thought the story was uninteresting, just like the characters and especially the main vilan. The final dungeon was a little too confusing for my taste but maybe it was because by the end of the game I wanted it to end so my patience was at its end.

Now I got Xillia. I hope I enjoy it like I did with Vesperia.
28  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Ys (IV) Memories of Celceta on: December 25, 2013, 10:55:06 AM
I decided to use my very last amount of money and bought the game!
Just arrived home with a cold so I doubt I'll be paying it today but I'm happy I got it and don't regret it one tiny bit, I just wish I could have bought it a bit cheaper but at least I got a fast deal in the collector's edition of Xilia so in the end it ended well.
29  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Ys (IV) Memories of Celceta on: December 24, 2013, 01:03:43 AM
Since I can see so much love for the series I'm thinking of asking for an opinion.
I'm traveling right now and I'll be leaving the USA tomorrow and I was playing Ys Origin right before leaving and even thought I haven't beat it yet I can say I'm having a blast with it.
Do you guys think I should invest in Celceta right away?
Of course I want it but I got so many games this trip I'm really considering postponing it.
I got Tales of Xilia, Link between worlds, Etrian Odyssey millennium girl and even pokemon x which I didn't want but ended up getting as a gift.

Basic question, do you guys think Ys of Celceta should skip the long line among those mentioned games?
30  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Megami Tensei Topic on: November 24, 2013, 06:17:55 PM
In defense of SMTIV, most of its DLC are just an easy way to grind and honestly, I'm just too happy to be worrying about any DLC that may come out.
We'll pretty much get 4 games, P5, the rhythm game on Vita, the mix of P3 and P4 on 3DS and the update of P4 Arena.

I hope P5 stays true to the formulae of P3 and P4 and doesn't bring back the demon conversation systems of P1 and both parts of P2, since I don't like using a guide when playing a game and thus didn't like that particular aspect.

I'm completely with you on this.
I think in SMTIV there was a nice balance of its use but I have to confess I preffer to play the game without it, especially because in SMTIV the shop to bring back demons from your registered are extremely costly, so if demon conversations happen to come back to P5, I hope at least they make the buying them back not too expensive.
