826  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Muramasa: The Demon Blade and Odin Sphere getting HD Ports on: September 15, 2010, 11:50:49 PM
While I truly love japanese stuff, settings and all I have to give an edge to Odin Sphere, at least in terms of story. Even though Muramasa has a better fighting system and all, Odin Sphere managed to keep me hooked more.
Even though I love them both I don't think I'll be buying Odin Sphere, as I have it for PS2 and I'm only one story away from beating all. Plus this game gets really hard so a cheating device comes handy :)
827  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Valkyria Chronicles 3 Confirmed for The PSP on: September 15, 2010, 05:11:33 PM
I'm in the NO wagon. Even though the game on PSP is not that bad, I really wanted it on the PS3. VP1 is so much better.
And come on, SEGA is refusing to rehash the same game ? As if no one does that and people still buy it and they say it as if the first one wasn't great in the first place. They just needed to put a new story and new stages and we'd all buy it with smiles on our faces.
828  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: I just discovered a JRPG I'd never heard of... on: September 12, 2010, 01:46:02 PM
I started playing it but I had such a big backlog at the time that it ended up being swallowed by other games. Seemed interesting though.

Same thing. Played very little of it, and I probably was expecting a little more of it, maybe another Disgaea. If I'm not mistaken I was playing Odin Sphere back then, so this got to the side.

About the title of the thread, it seems like there's always an RPG I've never heard about. Just these past couple days I heard of this game called Recettear, which has just been localized and it seems fun, it's geared toward item creation, so it's kind of hit or miss. But the voice acting has been removed because the localizing company couldn't pay for the rights to the voices .... (Yeah, as weird as it sounds) but at least there's a demo, so I'll give it a shot in the future.

I like the art style but the narration should stop at some point. It actually reminds me of that episode of Family Guy where Peter hires a guy to narrate everything he does in a singing voice.

Another con for me is this linear dungeon hack and slash because hack and slashing gets old quickly, so if there's nothing else to do, well, the fun goes away quickly.

CDFN I hope you're not planning on pirating that book because that is just disgusting if you are.

Actually, I'm going to pirate the living hell out of it.
I knew it, and I just laughing my ass of of it. As if we were going to buy a copy of a game we already own that wouldn't run on our system just to read a small thing in a book. As for me, I'll just pass it.

Have you guys seen the news, Wada (CEO of SE) is getting threats in his twitter account. It appears that it's not only for the 360 version but he admitted he has no intentions of releasing any DLC for the game, he just said that to try to stop fans from selling their used copies.

I read a comment about this in another site and I couldn't stop laughing from the irony of it, especially when it's so close to the truth:
It's not Square's fault, or i should say it's not Squaresoft's fault. I saw this coming when the Enix buyout happened. They have been systematically destroying old Squaresoft franchises. I think it's actually revenge. I hear that they plan a Parasite Eve title next. I guess they've beaten the FF horse into a pulp and need new material.

Oops, living and learning.

One I just remembered, how about the guy from Nier ? The father. Sure I don't look his design, but he's far from being a sissy, if anything he does look like a man.

I want Dragon Quest on 360.If it does arrive on 360,I will give everyone on RPGFan a blowjob. And I'll do it with a smile.

I will remember you of that. LOL !
Now seriously, I think SE would only do it if Microsoft payed for the whole game, plus gave them so much money they would not care if the game sold 1 single unit.

About XIII, why would anyone that don't already have the game pay for it to hear Leona Lewis horrible music ? Or an easy mode, the game let's you retry right next to the place you died. The deleted scenes we can all watch on youtube the day the game releases.
Don't get me wrong, I'm one of the people that liked XIII but still, this is pushing it. Wasn't it enough seeing the game reaching 1000 yen price point?

What about the guy from Nocturne? huh? He Actually turns into a demon himself and goes to battle alone in a wasteland full of demons.
Now that I wrote that, I thought the protagonist from Demon's Souls run into almost the same category, but the guy from Nocturne was not a fighter to begin with, as opposed to the MC of Demon's Souls, and he's customizable so I think it doesn't counts.
834  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy announced for PSP. on: September 07, 2010, 10:55:20 PM
If they put Rikku in, then it's settled, I'll get it !
Especially because I didn't get much sucked in the first one. I guess I picked the "boring" characters to start the game and ended up giving it up.
835  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: super robot wars L on: September 07, 2010, 09:33:15 AM
And they STILL don't have Code Geass mechs in SRW. What are they waiting for?

I thought the same thing, why no Code Geass ?
Of all those series, I've watched only 3. Maybe they're trying to do what the "Jump All Stars" did, try to get everybody to buy the game.
836  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: About Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2... on: September 06, 2010, 06:03:07 PM
I didn't like Strange Journey mostly because of the dungeon designs. Except for the first one they're so convoluted that it makes almost a pain to go through them instead of enjoyment.
But just as an example, in Nocturne I was liking everything, except the difficulty and sometimes the lack of dialogs.
837  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Resonance of Fate Topic on: September 06, 2010, 05:56:33 PM
I agree and to add the story is unclear, hard as hell to follow and it has those strange endings you're not sure you understood but the characters are fun so it softens it up for me.
838  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Atlus Absorbed, Merges With Mobile Developer on: September 03, 2010, 05:48:42 PM
And then comes EA, Actvision and SquareEnix asking why we like Atlus so much ?
If other companies were so thoughtful of their fanbase like Atlus I would not only buy all their games I would donate them money!
839  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: About Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2... on: September 03, 2010, 02:34:55 PM
I went on the wagon and decided to get the first one too. I remember back when it was released my cousin mentioned it but it ended up we didn't pay much attention to it... Only if I knew.
One thing that put me off of it a little bit is that many people say DDS2 is so much better than DDS1 that I was kinda sad I had to play the first one to truly enjoy the game.

This is past now, I wanna see it for myself. I watched the beginning of it on youtube some time ago and it was quite enjoyable.
840  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Best RPG of the decade on: September 03, 2010, 12:37:03 AM
I wonder if/when the true Shin Megami Tensei IV will happen? :)

It did happen. It's called Strange Journey.

I was just about to point it.
But like the other guy, I'm a little disappointed, just a little. I was enjoying most of it but the dungeons make it so much of a chore.
Honestly I think that I'm disappointed is the the game could have been more balanced. By balanced I mean a better mix between story, combat and exploration. And for me, the immersion is not as good as Nocturne, SJ feels like a really complicated map. I keep playing it just looking at the bottom screen, barely looking at the environments. Maybe if the dungeons were shorter I could feel more pulled in because the story is really good as far as I've seen.
