And they STILL don't have Code Geass mechs in SRW. What are they waiting for?

I thought the same thing, why no Code Geass ?
Of all those series, I've watched only 3. Maybe they're trying to do what the "Jump All Stars" did, try to get everybody to buy the game.

I didn't like Strange Journey mostly because of the dungeon designs. Except for the first one they're so convoluted that it makes almost a pain to go through them instead of enjoyment.
But just as an example, in Nocturne I was liking everything, except the difficulty and sometimes the lack of dialogs.

I agree and to add the story is unclear, hard as hell to follow and it has those strange endings you're not sure you understood but the characters are fun so it softens it up for me.

And then comes EA, Actvision and SquareEnix asking why we like Atlus so much ?
If other companies were so thoughtful of their fanbase like Atlus I would not only buy all their games I would donate them money!

I went on the wagon and decided to get the first one too. I remember back when it was released my cousin mentioned it but it ended up we didn't pay much attention to it... Only if I knew.
One thing that put me off of it a little bit is that many people say DDS2 is so much better than DDS1 that I was kinda sad I had to play the first one to truly enjoy the game.

This is past now, I wanna see it for myself. I watched the beginning of it on youtube some time ago and it was quite enjoyable.

I wonder if/when the true Shin Megami Tensei IV will happen? :)

It did happen. It's called Strange Journey.

I was just about to point it.
But like the other guy, I'm a little disappointed, just a little. I was enjoying most of it but the dungeons make it so much of a chore.
Honestly I think that I'm disappointed is the the game could have been more balanced. By balanced I mean a better mix between story, combat and exploration. And for me, the immersion is not as good as Nocturne, SJ feels like a really complicated map. I keep playing it just looking at the bottom screen, barely looking at the environments. Maybe if the dungeons were shorter I could feel more pulled in because the story is really good as far as I've seen.

I sympathize with the people raged about it being on PSP. Not because of the graphics and all but because they shouldn't expect you to own all consoles and portables of this gen.

I think anybody angry would be just as angry if the game were to be on the Wii or the 360. It's nothing against the system, it's because you have it a system where you played on game and when you want to play the next one you realize you can't play the sequel because you don't own the system.

It's like if you're a Kingdom Hearts fan: PS2, PS2, GBA, mobiles, DS, PSP. How can any fan play all those games ?

I (lucky me) have both a PS3 and PSP but say, if it were to be only on the 360 I wouldn't be able to play because mine died. But if they released on another platform together with the one originally released it would just make a larger market.

I own a PS3, 360, Wii, PSP and high-end PC. But I still want this game to stay exclusive for the PS3. I have my reasons but I don't feel like listing them.

I don't blame you. I actually also have my reasons to want it to be exclusive to the PS3. The main reason would be "make the best you can do and focus on making it better instead of adapting to work on something else with restrains."

God, if this isn't the worst time of the year to break your PSP. With Valkyria Chronicles 2, Persona 3 and Birth by Sleep on the top of my head.

I'm at the beginning of VCII, and I'm enjoying it a lot. The only thing I'm a little sad about is that there are no snipers. Sure, I understand the battle stages are smaller, so a sniper may not do that much of a difference but still.

By what the admin at the Atlus forums said, this will not change the games and all so hopefully we were all worried without reason.

We will probably hear about a persona or trauma center mobile game exclusive to Japan now and then. As long as we keep having our wonderful games I'm at peace.

edit:
Just to add a little thing. Remember when SEGA merged with the big guys from Pachinko ? Not like another game studio like Namco/Bandai or Square/Enix but still Sega has been doing some very good stuff. Bayonetta, Yakuza 3, Madworld, Infinite Space, Valkyria Chronicles 1 & 2.
Sure they make some shovel ware too but some of these help the a lot to pay the bills.

And by the looks, this Atlus thing is just so Index can use Atlus IPs and not interfering with Atlus game developing.

Have anyone seen this ? “Top 10 RPGs of This Generation”
Some gaming site made a list of the best RPGs of this gen and this site I usually go to, Sankaku Complex made a short article on the list.

The funny thing is that they pointed the same thing I thought when I read the list: Where is Persona ? If I were to make a top 2 RPG I would have to put Persona on it.

Honestly I think that some trophies can ruin a game. Just enjoy the game and don't turn a fun experience into torture. My 2 cents.

I couldn't agree more.
Some trophies are a good incentive to keep playing a little longer. For example, in FFXIII the one when you get a 5 star rating on the last boss, I liked. It could have one like these in most kind of games, to own the last boss. An example of a bad one I did in Resonance of Fate, was to do all missions in the battle arena. Doing all of them is alright but the said thing is that to try the next level you have to do the same one 3 times, and to get the trophy you need to beat each 10 times and there are 50 missions, so 500 battles. The sole reason I did this was because I had already done everything else in the game, so to not Platinum it would feel like a waste as it wasn't difficult just boring and time consuming.

Most game I get these days I read the trophy list on gamefaqs or somewhere else, go for what it fun and the rest I just don't care.

The boss recycling in Odin Sphere is because the stories cross between them but I agree, even so, it is recycling bosses.
Even so I loved how the stories felt like unique and the same at the same time. The only one I haven't played was Velvet's story and I was much more hyped for her, since the ones I expected to be bad (Prince that turn into a bunny & Faerie that becomes Faerie queen) were quite good, I assume the witch that lives in the woods will be much better. Someday I'll just pick it up to finish it.

The slowdowns sure were a bad thing but I wouldn't trade them for poorer environments. It's like Shadow of the Colossus, I wouldn't trade framerate for the beauty that exists in the game.

I had some gripes with Mass Effect 1 myself but if anything I think the dialogues were the best part of it. Of all the Bioware games I've played ME was one that impressed me the least (but still miles better than Neverwinter Nights). But putting it in the worst of the decade is kind of an overkill.

About Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter, I think it was fun until I found out your "dragon power or whatever" could never be replenished. This ruined the game for me.
Odin Sphere, I personally loved this game but I can understand why someone would not like it. Way to punishing (I used a gameshark in lots of places), and if you're looking for something more RPGish and you get Odin Sphere which is more action oriented one would surely not like it.
840  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Valkyrie Profile on: August 26, 2010, 11:02:10 AM
Valkyrie Profile are one of my favorites games on PS1 and PS2. Even though I like VP2 more, VP1 is great and there are some nuances that you see on VP2 that would feel nicer if you've seen then on VP1 before.

About buying them, I'd would also go with the PSP version. It's waaaay cheaper than the rare PSX version and both are the same thing except for few movies which I think are better on the PSP.
I recall that after I "Platinumed" Resonance of Fate, a guy on my friend's list offered me to sell it to him. This game along with Valkyrie Profile 1 and 2 are ones I'll be keeping forever.
