On the plus side, at least the bonfires are spread out nicely for the most part.  You rarely have to play through a long section to get back to a boss.  That's a huge improvement.

If you need help with the Taurus Demon...

Code:
Go through the doorway and you should see a ladder leading to the top of the tower just to the right.  Climb up there and perform a leaping strike on the bastard.  Lather, rinse, repeat!

I'm playing on the PS3, and it seems like the framerate problem is endemic to both platforms.

Also, just got into the Gravelord covenant, and the mechanic is all sorts of messed up.  You get a limited use item for invasions, but you also use it to level up your covenant status.  Pretty stupid...

I'm still loving the game, don't get me wrong, but Blight Town is damn near unplayable.  It's kinda hard to overlook an area that is this out of whack.

Just got through Blight Town and, Jesus, was that ever a bitch.  The game literally grinds to a halt in this area.  The framerate had to dip into single digits for almost the entire section.  To top it off, there's a boss down there that can kill in one hit, followed by another boss that makes the Demon Dragon God from Demon's Souls seem like a cakewalk.  Seriously, the game has crossed the line, imo.  These sections weren't fun or rewarding.  They were quite obnoxious and brutally sadistic.  Hopefully this is just one serious rough spot, but damn if it didn't make me scream a few times.

Going to be recording another episode this weekend with another developer interview!

Note: This will NOT be our long Dark Souls conversation.  Many of us are playing the game now, but we want to wait until we're a bit further before we have a full discussion.

I'm loving the open-world design.  I feel like I'm actually exploring and opening up new paths.  They also seem to have done a better job of placing checkpoints so that you don't have to do a massive amount of backtracking.  I like how one of the 1up articles called the game the natural evolution of the Metroidvania style, and I agree.  The only difference is that you can/will die if you try to take on an enemy that is way overpowered.  The barriers are actual enemies and not just some jump that can only be made with a special kind of accessory or upgrade.

Played for a fair bit yesterday, and I'm really liking it so far.  I love that each enemy is now dangerous but still totally fair.  That said, one of the early boss encounters felt a little sloppy.  It's a tight arena, he has some underlings around him, and he hits really freakin' hard.  The camera spazzed on me twice during this fight, so I died a few times until I finally got him.  Still, can't wait to get home and play some more.

Got through the tutorial last night, and I'm already digging on the game quite a bit.  It certainly looks a hell of a lot better than Demon's Souls, but I'm not sure if anyone is really going to notice.  Can't wait to get home after work and play the shit outta it.

We stay almost completely away from spoilers.  We definitely don't talk about the point in the game where a furry gets nailed to a cross.

Wait, that might be another Xeno game...

We've talked about that quite a bit on staff.  Currently, you can subscribe to the podcast through iTunes or our RSS feed.  Hope this helps!

Thanks for defending me, Stephen.

We've talked about FF12 before, and I loved the concept for the game so much.  I just felt like it lacked balance and relied on physical attacks.  Great idea marred by poor execution, imo.

Thanks so much for the kind words, Alhizzy.  It's important to go out there and try something new and exciting.  I remember listening to podcasts back in college and wishing that I could be on one some day.  I put a writing sample into RPGFan on a whim, and look what happened!  Hope to see more of you on the boards!

So what did everyone think of our interview with Darren Korb and how excited are you for our big Xenoblade podcast?!
