Guild Wars 2 will be free to play, though they will have micro-transactions.  Should be interesting to see how it plays out.

I want to play either DDS or Nocturne when I need a (slight) break from Diablo 3.  I played a little DDS over a year ago, but it just didn't grab me.  I think I was distracted by my new job and all of that.  I'm really not sure which one to try first.  Any suggestions from our listeners?

It's actually John's kind way of telling me that he doesn't like the podcast and wishes we never started it.

Either that or he was busy.

Not trying to come to Rift's defense or anything, but I think the article above articulates the feeling many of us have over an Elder Scrolls MMO.  Adding multiplayer to the experience a'la Mass Effect 3 could have proven both rewarding and innovative.  But the point of The Elder Scrolls (or at least the point that I like to focus on while playing those games) is the world, exploration, and individual stories that you may find.  This MMO certainly sounds like it's going to lose a great deal of that interactivity that so many of us play these types of games for.  That doesn't meant he narrative or stories are going to suck, mind you, but this is game is not going to play like Skyrim.  Who knows how the final game will turn out, but I'm not exactly jumping for joy over here.  I think the collective internet agreement right now is one giant, "Meh."

They will definitely have to be careful with how they balance this game.  The necro absolutely steamrolls everything right now and can handle large groups fairly well.  The thief, on the other hand, does a great job against one enemy of equal or lesser level, but anything higher and they go down fast.  Still, I'm very happy with what I've played so far.

Really liking the thief and the necro, but the thief still needs a bit of work.  He dies so fast when facing more than one enemy, while the necro can easily handle three or four without getting touched.

Monster Hunter Tri is only thirty bucks on Amazon (or at least it was last week).  I picked it up last week to get the classic controller pro for Xenoblade.  Seemed like a good deal considering the controller is actually 20 bucks!

Code:
Her early death scene really shocked me.  I was expecting her to be in my party the whole time.  It's good to shake things up a little bit at the beginning of a game!

If I remember correctly, it's mentioned fairly early in the game (probably during the first few hours).  I think John was right to truncate the blurb but the text should be just fine.

A.  That review was for the European release.

B.  It was done by a Scotsman, and you know they can't be trusted.

C.  I'm on review, so it was a shameless self promotion.

D.  America!  F*ck Yeah!!!

Nintendo didn't really advertise the new Wii model's lack of BC.  The guys at my EB were completely unaware of the difference, and we very quick to offer a replacement.  The Wii's in the store were a complete wreck, though, so I stuck with the new model and promised myself to take good care of the Gamecube I bought for Resident Evil 4 back in college!

You should be excited for Xenoblade.  It is quite good.  Should have our review for the site up on Friday for release!

I ran into the same problem.  Finding an older Wii with GC compatibility is really hard these days.  I bought one for my fiancee in December, and we just agreed to keep our Gamecubes in good working order.
