I would rather have my head sewn to a carpet than discuss the Kingdom Hearts storyline.
And I would rather donate my left testicle to science than try to play through the original Mass Effect again.

Nice review!
I found the game to be quite enjoyable, but I do think it repeats itself a bit too much at times. It always feels like I'm doing something just a bit longer than I should be (riding monsters, tombstone puzzle with Zobek, etc). Again, a minor complaint, but something that points out just how awesome the God of War series in terms of pacing, imo. The combat in LoS is quite excellent, and I can't wait to see what they do with the eventual sequel. A very enjoyable game indeed.
Also, that epilogue certainly sets up for an interesting sequel. We'll see what they do!

Veronica is pretty nasty. She's making the game much easier, but I kinda miss being able to survive on my own. This certainly takes me back to the original Fallout where a companion made a huge difference.

Thank God I'm not the only who's feeling crushed by the forced linearity of the game. I'm three hours in (level 6) and I feel like if I step off of a main road for even a second I'm going to get killed. I've run into a few Giant Radscorpians, Glowing Ones, and even a fucking Super Mutant Master all within a few feet of territories I was required to go to at the start of the game. Maybe the developers wanted to keep the player focused for the first few hours of the game, or perhaps they wanted to increase the overall difficulty, but I miss being able to travel wherever I want. Fighting a SMM this early and not being able to do any damage to it is not my idea of fun.

I would say when the autosave function is broken the game is unplayable. When the first thing you see after the opening scene is a spinning Exorcist head, you have a buggy mess of a game. Constant freezing and misfiring quest triggers also indicate a rushed product. Fallout 3 had many bugs, but they never reached this level for me. A 250 MB patch was just released last night, and the fps still drops like a mother when an NPC walks on your screen.
The fact that people can't even express their opinions and views of a game without some troll bitching about their bitching shows the reason we have a complete lack of discourse when it comes to games. If you can look past these issues, then that's great! Hope you enjoy the game! These issues are hindering my experience, and I would thank you to respect my frustration as an adult rather than accuse me of bitching like a petulant child.

I personally don't care about scores on Metacritic or GameRankings. I care about the experience I'm having with a game, and this is borderline abusive to a consumer. We haven't even gotten into NPC framerate drops. This game should not have been released in this state for PC. Fallout NV may be a good game, but I can't see it right now. When the game won't even save properly and freezes every ten minutes you know you have a serious problem.
I hope PS3 and 360 gamers are having a better time than us PC gamers are having right now. Sounds like the problems aren't as severe on other platforms (can't wait to hear the "this is because of PC pirating" reasoning).

Turning off the steamcloud helped with the saving issue, but the game still freezes CONSTANTLY. I've played for a total of two hours, and have had the game freeze seven times. This is just horrible. I'm supposed to be reviewing the game for PC, and the game is practically unplayable in this current form!

Yup, I'm going to turn it off when I get home today. I'm using an ATI card right now, so we'll see what happens. I'm probably going to wait to play the damn thing until after a patch or two comes out.

I played the PS3 version of F3, and that thing was a complete train wreck. Having the game freeze when a PSN update popped up was inexcusable, as was the constant freezing. But this issue with Steam where the damn autosave function doesn't work is borderline nuts. I would seriously consider getting a refund if I could right now. To release a game in this state is a giant slap in the face to consumers. Meanwhile, Blizzard releases StarCraft 2 and it is polished to a mirror shine. Granted the two products are very different, but imagine if Fallout had the same level of polish. A perfect example is the difference between GTA4 and Red Dead Redemption. GTA4 was fairly bug free at launch, while RDR was (and still is) littered with problems. Two similar games, but a serious lack of polish on one.

Yeah, the game is really forcing me down one path. It threw giant radscorpians at me right away when I went off the beaten path. Guess they want to funnel me down for the first few hours, but it's proving rather obnoxious at this point.
Also, the autosaving problem seems to be related to steamcloud. Great job, guys! Talk about how awesome stemcloud and Fallout are going to be together and then release the game without checking to make sure the damn thing works. This game stinks of being shoved out the door WAY too early. Between that, repeating dialogue, enemies trapped in walls, and shit that doesn't even make sense (killing convicts on one game gave me good karma, and before it was giving me nothing) this is proving to be quite the disappointing experience for me so far.

Well, I just lost an hour of progress because the autosave function wasn't working (even though it said everything saved and I can see the fucking file in the document folder). The PC version is a buggy mess. The framerate can't hold steady to save it's life, and I was running Fallout 3 with the same settings at damn near 60 fps. This is all sorts of messed up. Not even sure if I can play it in this state.
