I wasn't a huge fan of Bioware games for the longest time.  Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2 changed my mind, but I still haven't played the old-school classics.

Loving the game so far, but I agree that it really needed a mini-map.  I think DQ9 spoiled me here, but I have to paint a mental image of the dungeon all the time, which is a little annoying.  Loving the battle system too!

I think I was using MixZing or the default player on the HTC phones.

Also, our Dragon Age 2 special is in the can and should be ready for you guys sometime soon.  Look forward to some ass-kicking awesomeness as I school the boys and prove the game is just fine!

I actually never played King's Quest, so I really can't speak to it.  That said, I'm always looking for an excuse to rip on Stephen when it comes to KH.

And once again, I can't say how much I love to read the support you guys give the show on the boards.  We weren't even sure if anyone was listening to the show besides the editors and Ivalice Alliance.  Glad you guys are enjoying it!

And I hate you for it...

I actually talked with a couple other editors about this, and I definitely see a difference in tone between the original game and DA2.  Hearing a character yell "bitch" and another say "tits" is just a little odd given the original game's tone and delivery.  I don't have any problem with these words being thrown around in a game, but their inclusion feels a little forced.  It sort of reminds me of the "hardcore" edge brought to the Prince of Persia series with Warrior Within, though it certainly doesn't seem as severe.

Played the demo as a mage and had a lot more fun.  I agree that turning off the auto attack option was idiotic, as the game would be almost exactly like Origins if I didn't have to spam the X-button all the time.

Guess I'll wade in here with my PS3 impressions.

I actually really like the new art-style, though I do think the opening area is kind of bland.  The characters look better, and they certainly pop a little more out of the screen.

As for the combat on the console, this is a bit tricky for me.  I'm really just mashing buttons, which is kind of boring and repetitive.  That said, I really have to see what the game plays like on PC.  I can see the combat remaining very close to DA:O based off the PC interface, so I doubt I'll see any grand changes that detrimentally affect the game.

Overall, the demo just confirmed to me that I'll be buying DA2 on the PC.  Just seems like the proper place to play the game despite the changes to make it more console friendly.  I can see the potential depth, but I need a mouse and keyboard to enjoy it.

Also, we'll be having a short episode of the podcast this week to talk about our impressions of the demo.  Look forward to it!

Why does everyone love the "anime-girl laugh"?

The only real complaint I had against Demon's Souls was the camera, and playing the game again tonight really brought that key shortcoming to the forefront.  I ended up dying twice because the camera spazzed out and I fell to my death while moving around.  They really need to figure out how to keep the camera from swinging around violently during a fight and prevent it from getting caught in the environment.  The camera isn't a deal breaker by any means, but it can be the most frustrating part of a difficult, but delightful, game.

I really hope Dark Souls makes it out in the west this year.

The new episode is up, people!

Also, I bought DDS 1 and 2, but haven't played enough to really comment.  Maybe I'll get a chance to with this slow season before Dragon Age 2....
