I still prefer the originals a lot more  then the  remakes and the lunatic festa osts are arranged,  not exactly what you hear in game.
Arranged version of the battle theme  from the cd that came with the collector's edition of Silver Star Story for the PS1

overworld 2 arrange

I can see why you like them I just prefer the originals.

There are plenty of JRPGs competently writtten. Competently translated is a different story.

But wait a minute. For an JRPG to be competently translated as you say it has to be competently writtten too, don't you think?

A lot of things in Japanese just does not translate well into English.

Lunar the Silver Star -Meribia

Lunar the Silver Star -  Vane

It should be pretty good if they stay faithful to the source material . The high school comedy that the Japanese love and some mystery suspense . I just hope to God that it does not end up being like Trinity Soul.

Wouldn't surprise me, Im still running a P4 3ghz Hyper Thread :p

What is your graphic card? It supposedly has issues with  some  ATI cards as well.

Thanks man, I actually got to play the trial last weekend, a buddy of mine got a similar type of thing.  It was ok, though for some reason I couldn't get it to look good on my machine.  No matter what I tried it looked rather..blurry and whatnot.  Still had some cool ideas though.
Its a bitch to run. Well at least getting a acceptable fps with everything maxed. I hear people's cpu are bottle-necking  gpu's.

It may be lame to ask, but does anyone have a trial key?  I heard they gave some out to new buyers?  I would like to give it a shot before I buy, since I live on a fixed income currently.  If someone could help me out here, I would greatly appreciate it.  Thanks!

Here you go a link to a free trial. I play Sunrest Defiant, but i do not have any low level characters.

I found it new, I played the prologue today and I have to say I am happy I have it and I think i will like it.  I never played another other game from this company so its all new to me, I really like how its making fun of the whole gaming industry - but I dont get all of it yet (maybe lost in translation?)

My thoughts exactly.
There are tons of  obscure references all over the place. Even the item descriptions and abilities contain  references to other games  and the gaming industry. I found it odd how xbox360 is perceived in Japan as compared to here though. I was really surprised at the amount of anime series references they threw in. One thing I really hate about the game is how half-assed the graphic ares. The characters look nice when they go into visual novel mode, but in game it looks like a mid-life cycle ps2  game, and most of the enemies and backgrounds are bland and recycled. I like the game, but they really could have put a lot more effort into it.

At first I hated Hyperdimension Neptunia for its complicated systems, but once I learned how it is meant to be played, it became an easy-flowing and enjoyable experience.  Every review I had read lead me to believe this was some hardcore grindfest with drawn out battles, which is completely untrue.  It's light-hearted, easy, and can be played in short bursts.  It's genuinely funny, and a joy to play.

A sequel on a portable system makes pretty good sense.  If Compile Heart's countdown is Neptunia-related, the NPG means it's probably for the NGP, given the devs' tendency to toy with acronyms (CPU = Console Patron Unit; HDD = Hard Drive Divinity).

I'm hoping it is a Neptunia game, but for 3DS.  The PS3 game is a good time.
It sorta is a grindfest if you want the true ending
You have to grind the same few missions that raise actually raise stock for the goddess you want  over and over until  your share is  over 50%  This is required to recruit  the cpu goddesses near the end of the game. You need all of them to get the true ending.

For people who want to buy the game Amazon is selling it for 39.99.

There  will always be androgynous looking male characters in jrpgs. Its what is popular  with the Japanese youth in general. The beefy meatheads we westerners like are considered hard-gay over there. Hell, just look at male J rock or J-pop stars. If you did not know any better some of them could pass for being female.

The problem with handhelds are simply a lot of people do not want to play on them.  I have adapted, but I do not care for them much either. I'd  rather play with a controller on my 50 inch plasma TV,  and  7.1 surround  sound system, which is what home consoles are good for.

Oh and I also wonder if I should buy Hyperdimension Neptunia and Ar Tonelico even though they received a bad review. The collector in me wants them madly, but the player just knows I won't like them and probably never play them either.
Neptunia actually isn't that bad of a game. It's certainly a mediocre game, but it's not bad. The games a "love it or hate it" kind of deal. If it doesn't seem like something you would enjoy, I wouldn't bother with it. $60 is a lot to pay for a mediocre game that you only want for collecting purposes.

Just bought a copy from Gamestop...even if I'll never play it I just want to have it on my shelf. And it actually doesn't look half bad judging by the reviews.

I rented it from Gamefly. Its is mediocre, but its still a fun game with tons of gaming references that will make you laugh, smile, or just be indifferent to. It is very grindy though. Instead of grinding mobs, you grind the bosses and hidden bosses because normal random encounter mobs give horrible experience.

That was some low print even for Atlus.  I am glad they are doing another print.
