Best will be hard to choose, and it DOES help that Trails won't be out for over a month past the others.

HOWEVER, if you want the safest recommendations? Just grab Dragon Quest VI and Radiant Historia and wait on the others, Xseed has been great about getting their games on the PSN, and TO's up there too, so it'll take much longer to permanently miss out on those.

^ This.  Dragon Quest V seemed to had a low print and Atlus is known for their titles  going out of print quickly.

Pretty happy with my free trial membership to Gamefly so far. Ordered yesterday and Marvel  vs Capcom 3  and Heavy Rain are on the way. Absolutely shocked about MVC3 getting shipped.

Graphics can play a part on whether I buy a game at release at full price or not, but it is not the only factor. Most of the time graphics isn't even a major factor. There are exceptions, I am usually very harsh on the art styles of Visual Novels. If I don't like artstyle, unless its highly regarded I won't bother with it. I will usually give a flawed game a try after a price drop/ Ebay snipe as long there is some part of the game that interests me, gameplay, story,  premise, characters, etc. I have been an anime fan since I was around 12, so yeah, I like anime styled graphics. I also like realistic graphics as well, games like Heavy Rain and Uncharted 2 look amazing. The Witcher 2's  graphics look phenomenal and I am going enjoy seeing how well my upgraded computer measures up to it performance wise.
I don't care what a game looks like so long as it is fun.

One possible exception would be some of the early 3D stuff (like PSX era) in which characters were nothing but a handful of jagged polygons.  That really hasn't aged well.  I can play older sprite-based games just fine, but there is something about the early years of 3D games I can't stand.

I second that.  I can play SNES or Mega Drive games with no problem, but anything on the PlayStation that is 3D with sprites... urgh.
Totally agree!

Are you trying to get banned?  This going to end up like the last thread full of flames and trolling.
567  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Western RPGs versus JRPGs on: February 16, 2011, 12:47:46 AM
The thing that you need to get is that in the west anime is a niche. The anime boom and fascination with its artstyle dwindled out years ago. The majority like realistic graphics and environments. That is what sells, which is why they do it. Either adapt to the art style or SOL.

Oh lord, this thread is going to be interesting. As for myself, I like both almost equally. They both have their strengths, but they also have glaring weaknesses as well.

One thing that really needs to stop but has no chance of doing so is "cleaning" up movies to make them pg-13 so more people can see them.

I can't recall scene by scene but I know some things were taken out of the harry potter movies to keep the rating down and less spooky.

But I just saw the commercial for "battle for los angeles" and it's a movie about machines or aliens (whatever) murdering people and mass genocide... and it's fucking pg 13.

This is a big pet peeve of mine.
