Ah yeah. I have the spyglass. Very useful indeed even if I forget about it half the time.

I hate escaping from battles though. Dunno why. Too much pride or something :P

That can make it hard for some people. But you're right, the battles can be really easy or kick your ass real quick. Plus you can learn Void Death, and Gale comes withit. A lot about DDS is trial and error from the dungeons to the enemies. I've probably died a hundred times (or two) but I figure if I give up now, what the hell did I pay $60 for? :P

From what I hear, DDS2 provides much more of the games' plot. Hence my wanting to play it as soon as I'm finished with the first one.

Anyway,.. I'm near the end. The temple is HUUUUGE. I've spent HOURS in it, deaths aside. In the process, I made Serph something of a badass. I taught him Cruel Leader, and War God (Executioner and Revelation oh yes please), and even though I have yet to teach him the last Ice mantra, he's doing well. :P

There was an episode of The Simpsons when Homer becomes an ordained minister thanks to the Internet and marries anyone to anything, like the sailor guy to his ship's figurehead/"hood ornament."

Yeah, once again something ridiculous in real life reminds me of an episode of South Park or The Simpsons.

I recall Peter marrying a piece of pie in Family Guy and eating it seconds later.

Kyuusei: I had the same problem.  I was stuck on Catoblepas for some time before I realized that.  I kept looking for a Null Petrify or for it to be listed under one of the status ailment null skills.
Yep. I was doing the exact same thing when looking at skills and mantra - looking for a Null Petrify.

And eventually it occurred to me that since Void Death nulls curses, let's see if it can null petrification too! And it worked. DURR.

I am now inside the temple. Beat one boss so far.

Hmmm... Digital Devil Saga is cheap again at Amazon! I finally got me a copy.
Good idea. Get the second if it's on sale too - or when it goes on sale. They really are two halves of a whole as I'm in the process of finding out.

Still, the plot thickens in DDS.

What plot?

I need to get to DDS2 and find out.
Yeah, that's kinda the point. The plot won't mean much when you only get through half of it (DDS1).

PS. before I beat Varin last night, it didn't quite click that Void Death included nullifying petrify spells. Duh. Hence I was stuck for a while on one of the other Brutes bosses.

Boy did I feel dumb after.
2917  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Think you had a bad day? on: August 08, 2009, 04:22:40 PM
Some months ago after being essentially laid off, I had a nosebleed. Well, that's nothing new with me. Except it wouldn't stop for hours and it was, while sparing the details a heavy nosebleed. I ended up having my mom take me to the hospital at something obscene like 3:30 in the morning. They cauterized it but didn't pack it. So it bled AGAIN the next morning seeing as I woke up and immediately spat up blood. So back to the hospital, where this time I wound up fainting from such low blood. :P But hey, I got to lie ona gurney because of it, but even then I was in the waiting room for hours until they finally did it right this time. The packing hurt like a bitch and I was stuck with it for two days, making eating, sleeping and basically everything else a pain.

But at least I don't have nosebleeds anymore. :P

Well damn.

Not that I have anything against Oregon, mind you. It's very nice (at least in its present state, can't exactly comment on post-apocalyptic Oregon :P). Just it's a bit of change from a, well, junkyard.

Still, the plot thickens in DDS.

kyuusei, here's a single super-mindfuck spoiler about DDS2 if you wanna read it and be confused.

Code:
DDS2 takes place in Oregon.
Good one!

Wait.. you ARE kidding, right? :P

DDS - still at the Brutes base, after much getting my ass kicked, off to find Varin in this goddamn mansion somewhere.

Edit: nevermind he kicked my ass as well. :P

Edit again: Nevermind, I kicked HIS ass on the second try.

Now shit's gone all weird.

What the fuck.

The inconsistency beween USD and CAD (..and in Euros, now that I look again) in those prices blows my mind. I see a couple games for the same price in both currencies, then a couple for say 20USD and then the same for 30CAD.

For those of you keeping track, the Canadian dollar is between 91 and 92 cents US right now.

Looking at those comments...

Quote
But I certainly hope not. I am more than confident that the next Persona will be on a Sony console, as that's where fans expect it to be.

Isn't that the rationalization that most people used with many other games that either became multiplatform or were outright exclusives, such as Ace Combat 6 and Star Ocean 4? Doesn't seem to matter much afterall!

Anyways, I'm hoping it's just far off. Not making a sequel would be nuts, but waiting another year or two would be good.

Or because all Personas AND P1's remake have all been on Sony consoles. That's the only reason I'd expect P5 to be on a Sony system.

Ugh, the comments people leave on news articles are as retarded as the comments people leave on Youtube vids... :P

And if the change to a new installment's game-play is as big a change as P3/4's was from P1/2's, that would be pretty nice. As some of you mentioned, it being on a next-gen gives it a chance to possibly evolve, and if that's the case, I don't mind it being released any time soon. I'm still rather skeptical about these rumors though, so I won't dwell on it much until I hear/see a release date or something.

Honestly I don't even read YouTube comments anymore. :P

Yeah, you're right. If they made P5 on PS3, it'd leave more room for significant change in gameplay. I'd prefer to see it not come out for a while, because if they hacked up a P5 now, it'd likely end up a repackaged P3/4.

I think since P5 is in such demand, there'll be rumors until it eventually gets announced - be it tomorrow or months from now, but that's just me.

Reminds me of that guy who had a car fetish.

You mean Rob? Yeah, that Rob. Air-vent-cigarette-feeding Rob.

Ah, memories.

I miss you in a fucked up sort of way, Rob.

;)

I'm happy they're doing stuff like Strange Journey and that they're not just piling out Persona games (or any other title/spinoff) ad nauseum.

P4 was a really strong improvement on P3. I don't see how they're going to improve things, other than shiny new graphics at this stage.

I would just prefer some variety.

Other than that the gameplay improved, I found P4 to be P3 re-dressed, but with a bit of a weaker story (imo). I did enjoy the game, but if we get a new Persona, I'd rather not to see P3/4 repackaged a third time no matter what system it's on. Give us something at least somewhat fresh, but keep the Social Links.
