You haven't found the SHARKNADO fate yet I see.

Having done quite a bit of Titan HM recently (but never EM), I found that Weight of the Land in the first phase is easy to dodge as melee, as when I'm close to Titan it rarely comes up right around where the tank has him near-ish the edge. During the heart phase, I found it better to ignore the gaol, and during the post-heart, sticking to the outside edges helped in avoiding WotL.

Been leveling marauder more. I have um a lot of level 50 gear + Garuda's Scream for when I get a WAR there.

Also Crystal Tower bingo. https://24.media.tumblr.com/0b1d90c14a31c6f11e73ce9685d8a154/tumblr_mzfyg9C6yj1rq9338o1_1280.png

Sounds like our attempts. In one run I died/DCed, another one of the tanks goofed somehow, another we got a shitty scholar via party finder, blah blah blah. Kept getting close and Ultima would wipe us because half our DPS was dead in the final phase. The fuckups added up and had us using the healer LB instead of holding out for the tank (or single-target DPS, if he was low enough) one. :( Just gotta keep trying.

There's actually at least one large house over here on Coeurl (in Limsa, lots of furniture in it too, they made it open for people to go check it out), and a couple small ones, and last time I checked was like a week ago. I think my Free company could probably afford a small house at this point but there's no way we're dropping all our gil on something that's the same size as an inn room. At the very least we want a medium.

Yeah, the one house on Hyperion is still open to the public too. For us, since our FC is small, a small house is probably good enough.

I'd just be happy if we could stop fucking up on ultima mk2 already. This is getting stupid considering we can floor garuda ex and turn 4.

Where do you go wrong with Ultima? In my experiences we get all the way to the end and die when he casts Ultima. It took me a few tries to get used to the dodging, and apparently the plan was to use the tank LB3 during the final phase. Only we couldn't because we used the healer one already with half our party being dead.

Yeah, I looked up the blacksmith one a while ago and the requirements were insane at the time but I'm not sure if they lowered those too. I agree it's not worth specifically aiming for though.

I'm not sure what housing is like on your server, but Hyperion finally got a house a week ago. The pricing started at 20 million and is now down to 12M, which is kind of impressive. We're still pretty far off from affording one in any case.

I don't think I ever posted on RPGBoards, but I joined RPGFan around 2002, which is crazy to think about now that I'm married and have a career and all that adult crap.

I was 15 when I first stumbled on RPGFan. I'm 29 now. That's crazy.

Now I feel old, thanks Nallo.

Is that the one you get for doing all the fishing achievements ever?

Got leatherworker to 50 finally. Haven't done my class quest yet, but I can't wait til I get all my lvl50 gear. :D

Ultima HM is... fun?

I've heard having an SSD helps with load times. The only reason I would even swap out is I need a new, bigger HD in my PS3 anyway.

I've never had an issue during Garuda'a tornadoes, but I haven't done extreme mode yet. And I've been doing endgame since late October. My issues come when there's a lot of players and enemies on the screen. Crystal Tower can get hectic, and so can busy FATEs like Svara, Odin etc. But I don't do those often. CT disconnected me three times in one run, but that was more my internet than anything else.

I don't think anyone can beat this guy's XB gamertag when it comes to trolling people in Call of Duty.

It's perfectly fine, it's a bit slower in all aspects than a PC version obviously, and less pretty no doubt. But it's totally playable, I've been doing it for 3.5 months. Besides, the PS4 version is still a few months away and you can transfer onto that version for free when it's out.

Went to Canada again. This time I actually went to Vancouver. It was fun. A bit frustrating, but good. The reason for the frustration is that I am trying to be just friends with the woman of my dreams that does not have similar feelings about me.

My city sucks anyway.

Re: nausea, I get this in literally every first-person game.. and the Batman Arkham games. It's why I can't play Fallout or Skyrim in first-person, and why I zoom the hell out in Final Fantasy XIV... also so I can SEE THE DAMN AoEs as a melee class. (Someone tried to tell me I should go into first-person and do a dragoon!Jump. I said only if they wanted me to vomit.)

I was hellbent on playing the Metroid Prime games though, and took Gravol (Canada's less extreme version of dramamine) when I played. Did this for a few other games too. I really should get some more and beat Dishonoured and other stuff. Those meds make me either sleepy or hungry or both though, and the ginger-based ones are weak. :(

I'm honestly quite happy that generic "ATTACK/MAGIC/ITEM/RUN" anime trope JRPGs are on the decline, because the vast majority of them are creatively bereft and no longer have the same magic for me that they did when I was 14 and much less experienced with them.

this +a billion, would read again.

But seriously - there was lots of great stuff to choose from last year and I regret nothing, except for maybe not playing a few more. :) Even if we had waited until the very last 2013 release, many of these still wouldn't have been an easy choice.

I'm not saying 'never', that's your putting words in my mouth. It just so happened with Ys this time. I can't speak for how it was scheduled, but I'm guessing interest in 2013 lists tends to wane the more you get into 2014, not an intention to 'ignore Ys' or anything that came out so late. November was busy for new releases, and not just RPGs, so some of us got distracted with those.

I just know I voted for Ys. Except in the GotY category. :)

Some thoughts, since I was working a trillion hours a week and didn't submit a personal list:

1) Ni no Kuni was my disappointment of 2013. I didn't beat it or anything, and it was pretty and charming and Ghibli and etc, but the gameplay turned me off, and if I can't enjoy that, I'm not gonna enjoy a game at all no matter how nice it looks...

2) I enjoyed SMTIV. It was less of a disappointment to me than NNK was, but I also didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would, or would have liked to. That said, Nocturne is one of my favourite RPGs ever (alongside Mass Effect and FFVI), so IV would have a hard time NOT disappointing me on some level.

3) FFXIV is still an RPG and it also being an MMO doesn't invalidate that. Period. Only a couple of editors really played 1.0, so contrary to popular belief, the award isn't because 'FFXIV doesn't suck anymore' - it's because we loved XIV in 2013, no matter what it looked or played like in 2010 or 2011 or whenever before they shut down 1.0.

4) I love Mass Effect 2. Sure, it's really there to bridge the gap between ME1 and 3, but it's also very character-driven, which is what I like about it and games like FFVI.

5) Ys I know for a fact gets a lot of love from the staff, but I think because it came out so late in the year, more of us didn't get to play it enough or at all. I've put a couple hours in over break and I adore it.

6) My non-RPG GotY was Metal Gear Rising. ;)

Music awards are coming!

How about them allagan masks? They look like a part of a masquerade getup.
