Umaru goes hard

Can't goof up

Worse than a rapist

Giving Zack Snyder the reins for Bats vs Supes was a big mistake.  The guy is inconsistent.  Okay, Watchmen was good and 300 was fun, but most everything else he's done has been meh.  Man of Steel was lousy.

His work is divisive for sure, but is far from bad or inconsistent.

How should we interpret the story of MGSV? The expert speaks! (2 pages long) -- Famitsu.com

"Was METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN released in an unfinished state?" That's the question that's been making the rounds on the internet since the game's release. Elements such as Venom Snake's true identity, the disappearance of "Episode 51," and the nuclear disarmament objective in FOB online missions, have left some fans wondering what to make of it. We talked to the person most suited to answering these concerns, MGS series expert Kenji Yano.

@Annubis: Thanks.

from Nova Crystallis:

There's been a lot of talk about Final Fantasy XV following its re-reveal back at Tokyo Game Show 2014, specifically with regard to its "open-world" – a term thrown around rather loosely in the modern era – and often confused for things it's not. Speaking once again with Examiner, game director Hajime Tabata gave us a further look at what players can expect and how the structure of the game progresses based on the best aspects of both linear and open-world game styles when it launches later this year.

"As you travel through each region, you'll see different kinds of enemies and will take different paths that make you do unique things in each one of them," Tabata explained. "As you move through each region, the options for character growth and the different skills will start branching out as well."

As the player progresses through the game, new regions will open up for exploration. "Each region will move the journey forward," Tabata said. "How the story is handled, it's not 100 percent pure open-world, but it's also not a pull along the rails kind of story. It's very much a hybrid of those two styles, which I think is the best of both of them."

Players will also have access to several modes of transportation at their fingertips including by train – a journey which he expects people to be very excited about.

Final Fantasy director's haven't shied away from comparing their projects to popular western games of the now. In the past we've seen games like Final Fantasy XIII compared to Call of Duty, XIII-2 to Mass Effect and Red Dead Redemption and Lightning Returns to Skyrim. Now it seems to be Final Fantasy XV's turn, which director Hajime Tabata describes as having been influenced by narrative-heavy titles such as The Last of Us.

Speaking with Examiner Tabata explained, "One of the important threads of the story in Final Fantasy XV is that tale of how Noctis goes from being a young prince in waiting to becoming the king of the country. That tale is a really big part of the game."

The story of Final Fantasy XV will focus on Noctis and his "deep personal journey." Tabata says he will "grow and develop as a person, which puts you in a place to experience that emotional journey with him."

According to Tabata, the direction of the game's narrative and character development are connected and the team is aiming for something where gameplay and storytelling are one in the same. To this end, games such as The Last of Us were looked to as an example of that concept. "It's important that the story progresses through the gameplay in a very unforced way, in a similar way that it was done with The Last of Us, for example."

Final Fantasy XV goes without a release date, but with an announcement expected in March the game is still set for 2016.

That would be it for the news aside from what comes up in ATRs and events.

World of Wonder Vol.2: Location Hunt -- SquareEnixPresents, YouTube

I believe volume two was never posted before for any reason. So, here it is.

Nah, this was more fun and impactful.

Kinda jarring to browse the thread IMO. There has never been a way to adjust the resolution of a big image in a post?

@Dincrest: Would have been more adequate seeing that image on a link.

I meant on a more surface level. The Noctis we saw in 2006 is pretty much the same Noctis we see now.

Sure okay. Is it too hard to grasp that XV went through hell and back to became its own entity after multiple iterations?

Somewhere deep in the vaults at Square, there are design docs for the game that was meant to be FFXV and I'm just curious as to what we are missing!

You forgot to put '#ConspiracyTheories' there.

@Dincrest: The english vocabulary and its accents are, in part, the culprit here.

I've seen a portion of the anglosphere struggling for who knows how long to simply annunciate 'Ryu' and 'Diablo' properly.

They're considering editing certain scenes because of today's social standards[...]

Nevermind the Honey Bee Inn for a moment. All of that oversensitivity might explode again when Tifa shows up.

^It was confirmed months ago when they talked about the event for march. Still, it is nice for those who are too caught up in their own noise that they put out a more formal message.

^Tabata also directed Before Crisis.

its still the same basic concept in terms of character and setting.

Tetsuya Nomura and Kazushige Nojima might be credited as the ones that came up with the base concepts for the scenario of Versus as the director and scriptwriter respectively. But once the project saw massive changes and expansions with its staff members internally, the tone and context that XV has shown has been very different to what it was before. At best what started as "Versus XIII" is the structure, the skeleton of what XV is now.

@IndoorBoy: XV might carry over a few concepts from Versus, but Versus and XV are not literally one and the same. This was even addressed in an ATR once by Tabata.

Holy shit that got at 14:47 in that video ALMOST looks real.

Man CGI has come a long way.

I'm sure there's at least one henchmen in Uncharted that resembles him.
