Do you even read what you write anymore?

I follow, but I think we are misunderstanding each other a bit. ~_~

You're talking as if only casual fans should avoid the first 2 or 3 instalments of a fighting game when a hardcore fan is far more likely to notice the glaring flaws that are pretty much guaranteed to be present. Basically anybody with more than half a brain should avoid them...

You are assuming something I never said.

A fighting game has to build itself over time. That's how the best games in the same genre were established, and updates and feedback from players are an important part of that process. Which, in turn, also keeps the business and interest to produce more titles going into the future.

Yay?  Probably best to not buy the first three editions of it though. :P  (/oldjoke)

If you are not into the genre for real? Sure. But is not like RPGs don't get updates too, in fact, for the longest time updates have been a thing in gaming that have been made available in various forms and formats.

While you're right, I was more refering to the "Gut punch" of knowing that whole sequence was a VR Simulation and nothing was gonna come of it, therefore it was an entirely pointless section that did little to advance the plot. It's worse in MGS2, though, since then you're forced to play the rest of the game as a lesser protagonist (Instead of the other way around in KH2). It was one of the biggest trolls in gaming I've ever encountered, and I'm not particularly fond of when other games attempt a similar twist...

MGS2 played with your expectations after MGS by making the middle of the game a remixed version of Metal Gear 2 and Metal Gear Solid put together.

All that was in the service of the the overall narrative and main theme of MGS2. The game is all about being meta and make the player think not in the game, but in the last message Snake gives to the player, that's what matter the most in MGS2.

I've mentioned this before in the last journal thread;  The fact that MGS2 has a sequel is insane. And is even more crazy that that same sequel has another sequel (that's mainly an spin-off) that continues the story of MGS2. A story that nobody should take at face value for how many layers of depth and deception it has.

it's like the beginning of Metal Gear Solid 2 all over again...okay, maybe not quite that bad, but closer than I'd like...

The beginning of MGS2 is one of its best parts. Then again, Metal Gear has practically always been a slow-paced (or methodical if you prefer) experience excluding Rising.

@dyeager: Haven't seen that site linked in a while.

Either way, alternatively you could also just say that the 'PC Master Race' deal really is, in short, about a joke that ironically became a "weaponized joke".

The need to justifying personal purchases to others and self-control not being much of a thing online also contributed to years of pages and pages of shallow arguments and lame(?) jokes on gaming sites, forums, etc.

I don't know why this is a debate.

I already answered that question. ~_~

It has been stated that there are reasons for Quiet's appearance. That being said, people is always gonna find a reason to be bothered by sex appeal and any kind of nudity in general, so whatever, is better just let people say whatever they want. Quiet appearance is not the focus of TPP, is only one aspect of the entirety of TPP.

To Be A Patriot; An examination of nationalism and war in Metal Gear -- META GEAR SOLID.org

Without nationalism, war loses its mask. Without patriots, war loses its most reliable tools. If we accept that Metal Gear is "anti-war", do we accept that it's also anti-patriotism?

I just want to quickly mention that the small entry Wikipedia has about PC Master Race is surprisingly accurate.

I recommend you guys read it, if only for curiosity.
