You can use that sponge to wash the dishes if you feel so offended by it.

However, Aeolus really got me thinking now.... if one were to want to enter the universe of .hack, what we be the best order of operation...? Anime first? Manga? Game 1, then anime? I mean how does the anime work out? Is it prequel narrative for any of the games or a retelling of the games themselves? Depending on the case, does it suffice to watch it then jump into one of the latter titles? If anyone knows I'd love to hear.... or is there just so much media I should google/wiki it and get my ducks in order from there?

.hack series fictional chronology

.hack//Sign -- Anime series of 26 episodes, 2002-'03
.hack//Infection -- PS2 RPG, 2003 (North America)
.hack//Mutation -- PS2 RPG, 2003 (North America)
.hack//Outbreak  -- PS2 RPG, 2003 (North America)
.hack//Quarantine -- PS2 RPG, 2004 (North America)
.hack//frägment -- Online Action RPG, 2005 (not released outside of Japan) / An online and offline RPG that uses the engine from the .hack//Games. It allows players to create a character, form a party in a text based lobby, join Guilds, and adventure in "The World".
.hack//Liminality -- OVA series of 4 volumes, 2002-'03 / This series is directly related to the .hack video game series for the PlayStation 2, with the perspective of Liminality focused on the real world as opposed to the games' MMORPG "The World".
.hack//Legend of the Twilight -- Manga series of 3 volumes, 2002-'04
.hack//Roots -- Anime series of 26 episodes, 2006
.hack//G.U. Vol. 1: Rebirth -- PS2 RPG, 2006 (North America)
.hack//G.U. Vol. 2: Reminisce -- PS2 RPG, 2007 (North America)
.hack//G.U. Vol. 3: Redemption -- PS2 RPG, 2007 (North America)
.hack//Link -- PSP Action RPG, 2010 (not released outside of Japan)
.hack//Quantum -- OVA series of 3 volumes, 2010-'11
.hack//The Movie (aka ".hack//Beyond The World") -- CG anime film, 2012
.hack//Versus -- Fighting game included on the Blu-Ray release of .hack//Beyond The World

There's also an online novel called ".hack//Bullet", no idea what's that about or what place takes in the chronology.

Also believe me when I say that I didn't listed everything from the serie, there seem to be a bunch of mangas in the franchise floating around. Some are tie-ins with the games, others continue the story from either an anime, movie or OVA and others are an adaptation of the source material.

Is kind of a mess if you ask me.

I saw 4 parts of a walkthrough of Spec Ops last night. Pretty impressed seeing that the game actually looked good, dunno if I'll buy it though.

Yggdrasil, did you leave your PS3 on while playing UC3.... everytime I boot up you're chugging away :)

Yeah, been stuck for days with UC3 in general. I'm having a lot of fun with it even if I still can get over the fact that UC2 is "the better game".

I have no idea how I found this.

The last few episodes of F/SN are fun, but if you can't get into it then don't do it. Fate in general is an entertaining story with some good moments but other than that there's nothing special about it, though, I'm pretty I would get kicked in the face if I say that in front of a fan of Type-Moon.

If anything when I finished Fate I started watching Haibane Renmei after it I think, and that was so much better. I really enjoyed that series.

Now and Then, Here and There: I finished this short short series up a few weeks ago and it is still lingering in my mind. I can't really say this series is akin to anything I've seen. It certainly reminds me a few different titles, but stands unique enough for me to avoid comparisons. I feel as though this one was just quality all around.... I can't imagine anyone NOT liking some aspect of this aside from the fact that it is pretty grim at points and the art isn't exactly worth writing home about. If you have not seen this one and don't harbor an aversion to having some heavy and serious tone to your anime, DO NOT miss this.

I saw this one last year. Great series, but never watch it if you're suffering with depression like I did.

I was pretty intrigued by how so many people said it was unique and what not, and with depression and everything I watched the whole thing in like one night if I remember correctly. Either way, it was an interesting experience from what anime is usually.

Japan may build things for the creepiest reason... but they can do some awesome tech nonetheless:

I never thought before of the possibly of a dating sim with Kinect or AR technology, the idea alone is fascinatingly creepy.

Yes Nier was only published by SE. It always got my attention how of the few titles that were praised by fans, SE collaborated with another studio or let another company take the project and later they publish it.

It has been the case with Nier, Dragon Quest 8, XIII-2, The World Ends With You and Theatrhythm.

There's also that thing with Eidos.

I also totally agree with you on One Winged Angel. It sounds appropriately epic, but melodically I think its really lacking.

The best version of One-Winged is the one in Advent Children (the original version, not the one from the "complete" album). Also, does Theatrhythm has Birth of a God? I love that one from FFVII.
