Don't forget Tales of Phantasia.  The Playstation remake is superior, but the original version is fantastic.  The GBA version we got in the US is crap.  I did not review it very flatteringly.

There also this "Full Voice Edition" for PSP. Then they took that version and released Tales of Phantasia: Cross Edition.

Somehow with SMT IV being on 3DS it kinda feels that the main series is no longer important anymore with the Persona series getting all the attention with all the ports they did for PSP, the enhanced version of P4 for Vita and P5 being surely released for (at least) PS3. Not to mention all the other stuff they have made like the drama CDs, concerts, etc. Though, I know that's not the case but still the fact that after a decade of Noctune being released I can't help myself but being disappointed with the announcement of the game being on a handheld.

That's like Square Enix announcing a sequel to Vagrant Story directed by Motomu Toriyama.

...well, maybe not that bad but you get the idea.

Also, there's no real reason to believe that SMT IV will bad or anything because is on 3DS. So that's that.

MGS: Peace Walker is still pretty awesome.

^Take that as a compliment at least. :p

I never understand Mesh unless he posts gifs

I never understand what he says... well, not always but most of the time.

Put a ton of time into MGS: Peace Walker already, there's tons of stuff to do and playing with other fans of the series online is great. I'll say this game is right there with MGS1 and 3 in quality.

Kinda hard to get into it at first because this is a "Tactical Espionage Operations" game instead of "Tactical Espionage Action" like the others.

This might be the best piece of DLC I'll ever buy.

Weird how Cyberpunk has being slowly reviving in the last few years. After DX: Human Revolution though, the only thing I wanted was more Cyberpunk in my life so this good news and it hope it doesn't disappoints.

Why is dialog in JRPGs so ridiculous?

Is a cultural thing.

...or bad translation sometimes.

I think I said this before but back when Nocturne was released in Japan Atlus did a DVD showing a timeline of the (at the time) entire franchise. There you can see how SMT and Persona are kinda connected by Shin Megami Tensei: if...

Edit: Here. This is the timeline I saw, skip to 3:32min in the video.

While the first post CAN steer the direction of the thread, I mainly just wished the inevitable "I didn't want this on 3DS!" posts to at least wait awhile, especially when it's on a much desired game in a series that's been settled in on handhelds as of late anyway.

Nah, this is not neogaf and besides people here in RPFan love the series. I'm actually pretty happy that SMT IV is being made but I wanted something bigger like Nocturne... after Strange Journey though I should have guessed that SMT IV is was going to be made for a handheld.

Still, I do want a 3DS mainly for Souls Hackers and I'll get SMT IV even though is not in the kind of platform I wanted.

Edit: So uhm, with the game announced and all I wonder what ending is going to be canon from SMT: Noctune for this sequel. If they choose to make an entire game around the "True Demon Ending" that would be very interesting, but I doubt that's gonna happen.

Adding a quote:

"Kaneko once admitted that this was meant to be Shin Megami Tensei IV - the only thing keeping it from an "official" numeral was that it takes place in the South Pole as compared to Tokyo, like the older games. The change to a more neutral location was done in hopes to appeal to a worldwide audience, fearing that the concentration on modern day Japan would be off-putting for foreigners. In spite of this, it's still clear that Strange Journey is the true successor to Nocturne that most Megatenists have been waiting for." -- Source: Hardcore Gaming 101

Man, why'd this crap have to be the first reply?

The world doesn't turn around me. Move on.
