from Destructoid: Hironobu Sakaguchi is heading up Mistwalker now, but he's more famous for his time at Squaresoft, where he headed up just about everything that has the Final Fantasy name on it up until his move. One of the last (and biggest) projects he headed up was Final Fantasy IX. On the Mistwalker webpage, Sakaguchi has posted some of the old developer memos for that game that he dug up. These memos focus on the opening sequence of FF9 -- remember how great that was? Found during a hard disk backup, this memo is dated July 17, 1998. It's pretty cool to see how much thought and planning was put into the opening. He apologizes for typos and translation, but this part's a little funny to read: [MOVIE] 4: Close up of Princess Garnet Close up of her breasts. View of her breasts inside the clothes (a little). Also a view of her pendant of royalty...
-Hallway- She rushes away from the hallway. Two stare at each other.
Zidane: "Hey, was that..."
Thief: “Her breasts look comfortable...”
Zidane: "No, no, she was wearing the pendant of the summons permitted by only royalty."
Thief: "I fell in Love at first sight..."
Zidane: "Deep blue stone... "The Legend of Leviathan", was it Princess Garnet?"
Thief: "What are you talking about?"
Zidane: "Never mind, change of plan, let’s follow after her." Wow, just reading this makes me want to play the game again. Sakaguchi, please post more like this! |

Dunno if I said this before, but I remember reading that FES was made because Japanese gamers didn't like the ending of the original P3. Also, it seems that Atlus received a crapload of emails with complaints...
The ending of P3P can be changed by doing the S.Link with Shinji, right?

^I know, I read My Balls (...ew?) in 2007 if I remember correctly. And even by that time I wondered why this stupid story was so long? This easily could have been finished in one or two volumes.
What I didn't know is that the series became popular. More power to the fans I suppose, but I still think that the concept of this manga could have been better used for something more clever.

Are you purposely spelling dreamed like dreamt, or is that the joke? If not then :( What joke? Dreamt is British English, Dreamed is American English.
He isn't wrong.
If you are going to pick on something, maybe the "dreamt WITH this man" bit should be a priority.
Though I don't think English is his first language. That's right, my first language is Spanish. But I know about the Dreamt/Dreamed thing though. Now, keep talking about random stuff. :) |

Odd, I remember a lot of people here getting psyched for the game's announcement. Besides Serene above, it seems to have fizzled out... People was never awesomely excited about the game really, they/we were just happy that a new Golden Sun was being developed (kinda like Sin & Punishment 2). After all, Golden Sun has always been a nice little game with some followers of the GBA era. Not a "big budget in-your-face" kind of game. |

It is funny... well, the first chapter at least. But all that it makes special the premise gets old really fast and that's because... the serie lasted a bit too long so the initial impact kind of dies along the way. Not to mention that in the long run every chapter feels the same, the story is full of cliches and dumb scenes that could have been better, the main character is the standard random innocent boy that gets laid with every woman on the planet (for what I remember anyway), there's nothing really original, exciting or new to see and blahblahblah. This manga is like the Star Ocean franchise; Good ideas, horrible execution. how often do you read a scenario about "how an angel sealed the devil in your ball and you must not come or it will be released" ? ...yeah. *goes back to read Fullmetal Alchemist and Hellsing* |

And on that note; I love porno plot lines. Hilarity ensues.
A personal favorite I read: A cute shikigami (grim reaper?) comes to out main guy says she will come to kill him unless he goes and impregnates someone in 3 days to carry on his lineage (no further explanations needed/given). His sister (oh!) can't have that and agrees. The shikigami gets in there too somehow and well, they both get pregnant. After 3rd trimester effing, it ends. This reminds me of the biggest piece of shit that I've read in my life... my balls. |

As usual: when in doubt, look at what Gen Eric suggests, and do the exact opposite. True... true. About Sin & Punishment, the games are related to each other but the connection is so thin that you don't really need to play the first one to play the sequel (the same happens with Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga). But if you can play both games, just do it. Also, if you want more info of the series go to the hardcore gaming 101 wesite and read the article. |
