The game does tell you about those things but very vaguely in the menu. Demon's Souls was a game in where the developers put a lot of hope in the player to discover everything about the game, even how it plays.
I think that Atlus notice this because is pretty much the only game I can remember in where the publisher recommended to buy the deluxe edition for the guide and visiting the wiki of the game for more info (or help in this case).
So I didn't put much attention before but this game has 3D audio, now I'm interested. I'm also watching the playthough of RedSunGamer channel on YouTube and is not scary or anything at the moment really but the heavy emphasis on the dialog and the voice acting is quite impressive to be honest.
I don't have a PSP though, so I guess I'll have to wait until I have the Vita to buy this from PSN.
The entire joke of Demon's Souls was letting the player discovering everything by himself and Dark Souls is suppose to be that and more so I don't expect seeing that at some point the game decide to hold your hands because you are getting killed too much or something. Hell, your character is an inmortal and a big part of the exploration is dying to learn more about your surroundings.
It can get annoying dying too much though, but those are the rules of the game.
Also, I'm pretty sure that there's going to be a wiki for the game in the future. So that's that.
