So, who wants to hear the musical arrangments of the best soundtrack of 2010? I mean, someone at the USTREAM where apparently SQEX Music broadcast the album said via Twitter that the last track is a 8 bit medley. What's not to love? (source VGMdb).

Buy the first Dead Rising, it's not bad and is pretty cheap also. And Bayonetta on the 360 is the version you want to play.

5211  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Triggers and Crosses, the wonderful and horrible universe of the Chrono series. on: October 23, 2010, 12:38:21 PM
The good (and probably crazy) people at socks make people sexy did another article about one of the biggest series that Square has ever made. And maybe the only one that was worth you time (oh, what? Final Fantasy you say? ...eh. Final Fantasy IV, VI and VII were good,  VII being "...quite possibly the greatest game ever made". And that one between VIII and X was good too, but after that, shit happens).

from the Chrono Trigger article:

Chrono Trigger remains the definitive Japanese RPG. It encapsulaes everything about the genre that ever made it worthwhile and sidesteps the excesses, identity crises, and creative congealment that have come to stigmatize console RPGs as some of the most maligned and stagnant games of recent years. If I were to recommend a single console RPG for the most casual or novice gamer I knew, the words "Final Fantasy" wouldn't cross my mind for even a second.

Mother 2 and 3 are pretty close to the Chrono Trigger status in my book. But like someone said on YouTube "lol opinions".

from the Chrono Cross article:

Is Chrono Cross a failure?

Probably. I sure as hell wouldn't call it a success, at any rate. "Well-intentioned clusterfuck" seem a more apt designation.

Kato was never allowed to direct another game. (He left Square around 2002 and now only works for them on a freelance basis, doing story plotting for some of their smaller games.) Even during Square Enix's ongoing "WE NEED MORE SEQUELS OF EVERYTHING" phase, it refuses to touch Chrono, with the exception of the "hey let's put out a fourteen-year-old game that a thousands of people will buy for the second or third time" Nintendo DS port of Chrono Trigger. A Square Enix executive has made a statement that goes something along the lines of, "if you want to see another Chrono game, buy more DS copies of Chrono Trigger to convince us it'll be worth our while." Cross evidently left a very sour taste on Square's executive palate.

Choose thy article and discuss.

I think there's no info about the composers, at least for now. But I find this track in YouTube. Very atmosferic and relaxing.
5215  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: The 3rd Birthday on: October 20, 2010, 09:12:41 AM
The wait for The 3rd Birthday wonít be too long. Japan gets the PSP game first on December 22. Square Enix has The 3rd Birthday slated for Q1 2011 in North America. In plain English, thatís sometime between January 1 and March 31 of next year.

I bet that this is fake, but is all kinds of WTF. :p

Japan also has something that's delicious and I can't find it in America, and that's Banana Juice. Just straight up Banana juice. You'd think it'd be gross, but it's absolutely creamy and delicious.

Banana Juice? Never heard of such a thing, but I would like to try it. I'm all for eat new stuff.
5217  Media / Single-Player RPGs / The Last Story, 2nd Trailer. on: October 20, 2010, 08:20:17 AM

The emphasis is on story this time around. There's not a bit of gameplay.

The trailer begins with a guy with short hair walking up to a slightly apprehensive hooded person and asking if he's by himself.

It then cuts to a scene of Elza's mercenaries. Quark, the mercenary leader, reports that he's just found a new employer, something that pleases the extremely underdressed Seiren. Manamia, the girl with the bow in her hair, asks, very politely, "Who is the new employer?" Quark resopnds: Count Arganon, lord of the island. Apparently, the island has a demon problem, and it's up to Elza and crew to deal with the situation.

As the trailer comes to an end, we visit the same scene from the opening. This time, the conversation continues. "Are you by yourself?" asks the guy with the short hair. He continues, "So am I," then takes the hand of the hooded person.

Nintendo Channel trailers are usually followed by official site updates, so we'll hopefully get some additional online content later this week.

I'll be very happy if Layton and Luke solve puzzles to gain clues for Phoenix to use as evidence in court. OH MAN!
Quote from: slaughterking
How great would it be if the game starts with Layton or Luke being accused of whatever and Phoenix has to defend them in court. Like this would be introductory case where the two parties come together for the rest of the game. Aww yeah, that would be great. *laugh.gif*

The 3DS is going to be like the god of gaming.

Also nice to see a revamped Phoenix Wright - the old GBA graphics were seriously sad to be seen on DS.

Sad is when people still waste their money on Square Enix games, the reboot of Devil May Cry or that we still have to wait more for GT5.

Oh! So this is the big secret game they were working on? Good idea for a crossover.
