1  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: The Merged Final Fantasy XIII-2 Thread on: February 02, 2012, 05:25:05 PM
I'm a few hours and enjoying it a lot so far.
2  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: FNC/Production 1 Conference Recap (FFXIII-2, Agito XIII->Type-0) on: January 18, 2011, 05:54:34 AM
I'm excited for XIII-2.

Nintendo has already given the middle finger.

To Wii owners?

Mostly, they've left a few DS gems un-translated. It might just be my personal grudge since Nintendo doesn't give a shit for Monolith Soft's games and the second Fire Emblem DS is still untranslated. The Cing-developed games are always fun and Fatal Frame 4 is theirs to publish. Basically they've disappointed me time and time again with the exclusives they have the rights to. I don't even have faith they'll translate The Last Story because it might not be casual enough.

And since Nintendo has essentially avoided any Xenoblade localization talk, I went from N-fanboy-ish to disgruntled Wii owner. If they didn't have Zelda series... I doubt I'd still care for the Wii.

I'm almost positive that both games will get localized in 2011. I just hope we don't get the same treatment that we got for "Disaster: Day of Crisis". Why do I say this?  Both Xenoblade and Disaster was made by Monolith Soft.  We never did get Soma Bringer either.  Stupid Nintendo even though I love you.  Don't F' this up and not give us Xenoblade or there will be plenty of mad people.
Nintendo has already given the middle finger.
5  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Tales of PlayStation(s) revealed on: December 15, 2010, 01:47:54 AM
I refuse to get hyped for another Tales game. It's only followed by months of anticipation, denial then flat out disappointment.

Has anyone ever price matched at Best Buy? I try to buy most everything at BB due to the reward zone and the gamers club. It's still listed at $30 at BB.
I just did recently for Nier when Gamestop/EB had the game for $9.89 CDN. Cashier even gave me 20% instead of the 10% off the matched price so the total was $9 after tax. If I didn't already have it, this would be the best deal I've ever had.

Xenoblade (or Monado on Nintendo's website) has been taken down from their official site which was the last sign of hope for me. I'm sort of a Nintendo loyalist, but screw them.

Everyone just uses FFXIII as a standard to hype up another game, it's an easy target. I can think of a few Resonance of Fate reviews that were like, "FFXIII was a huge disappointment, but thankfully RoF..." blah blah blah.

I'm looking forward to playing Nier very soon.

I like older and more mature mains, but not grandpas. Our Nier looks like he should be in retirement. I'll probably pick this up eventually because I love the Drakengard games and Nier is set in the same world as the fifth ending of the first game, but the old man version is a big turn-off and the boxart is supreme fugly. Replicant would have been an instant buy.
10  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Suikoden Topic on: March 30, 2010, 10:44:40 PM
I've played them all. My hype for new Suikoden games rivals any other series. Not that I consider Suikoden consistently great because I find some of them outright sucks, but when the developers get it right (namely 2 & 5), they are amazing.
11  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Things you can’t bear in RPGs on: March 13, 2006, 08:05:42 PM
Things I dislike about RPGs:

- whiny teenage protagonists that are hopelessly clueless
- poorly executed storylines
- instant kill attacks
- randomly generated dungeons/levels
- overly long dungeons
- boring npc conversation/town exploration
- unskippable events
- bad voice acting, even worst not being able to turn it off
- no directions to next destination or event
- backtracking through world map
- high random encounter rate
- shops that don't show enough info (ie. whether an armor is better than the one equipped)

I'm picky, I know.
