1 cookie for Prime, and a whole box of cookies to Starmongoose, because that made me lol. :)

Annubis, I need to be very vague here to not get the site in trouble, but I must tell you to watch for my review of Etrian Odyssey 3 as its release date approaches next month.  Grinding is something that will most certainly come up.
Grinding does usually make something "come up" alright.

and not just that spelling of "come"
this is getting a little "weird"

Hiro and friends find a massive tower that should have been visible from much further away, but looks like it could be from a dimension entirely separate from this one and back home.

Sasuke: We gotta go through THIS?

Miles: Go through it?

Sasuke: I mean go up.

Miles: Maybe we need to go around it.

Sasuke: But all towers in RPGs are obstacles meant for making people go up, or maybe down, or both. But mostly up. And sometimes, games that feel like being assholes make us go up only to find out that we needed to go down. It's a rule. Duhhh.

Hiro: Rosa?

everyone else: Wha?

In front of the party, a girl that looks just like Rosa is crying.

In slow motion, Hiro "glomps" Rosa.

Rosa: Hiro?! Is that you?

Hiro: Yeah. Are you okay? :D

Rosa: YAYYYYY. Oh right, I dunno. But I feel really sick.

Hiro: Sick? Could it be a plot-related illness that may be uncurable and I'd lose you forever and I'd try to find out how it happened spend the rest of this game trying to kill whoever or whatever caused it and I would feel unsatisfied because it didn't bring you back and because revenge doesn't solve anything since that seems to be a recurring moral in RPGs?

Rosa stares blankly at Hiro.

Meanwhile, Bob nudges the mysterious stranger and pulls him aside.

Bob: I think this narrator is getting tired of calling you a mysterious stranger. And I'm uncomfortable with you being around us so much but we know next to nothing about you, so how about you introduce yourself to us all and get some character development next chance we get?

stranger: Let that narrator keep getting tired of calling me a stranger, I'll introduce myself when the time is right.

A tension begins to surround these two, and we go back to Hiro and Rosa.

Rosa is still staring at Hiro, confused, and points to the rest of the party.

Rosa: Hiro, who are all those people?

Hiro: Friends, and also a mysterious stranger.

Rosa points to a group of about 6 or 7 people that was in that last post.

Rosa: And those people?

Hiro: Chad?

Chad: That was such a touching reunion.

Tarresa: I get a feeling that a boss fight is about to ensue.
1129  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Ridiculous plot wanking... on: August 29, 2010, 12:18:11 AM
I obviously know a lot of games with stories like that, but I'm curious: what do you think is the absolute worst offender of having ridiculous plot?

And your dong turns into a random glowing star... thing, which is okay because even if you had a dong your girlfriend would've just burnt it off with her laser nipples anyway.

Odin Sphere, I personally loved this game but I can understand why someone would not like it. Way to punishing (I used a gameshark in lots of places), and if you're looking for something more RPGish and you get Odin Sphere which is more action oriented one would surely not like it.

I hate it (so far) because it almost everything is voiced and it makes my ps2 "clunk" away like hell.
and I haaaate that games sometimes use far too limited inventories like this one does
I've heard fragile dreams does it too but this game gets away with it in most reviews.

Shut Up and Jam; Gaiden, Chapter 2: Shaq vs. Charles (golf)
almost called it "Shut Up and Eat" since in that exact episode shaq, had a hot dog eating contest (just a dumb joke)
1132  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Let's design the most cliche RPG story ever on: August 26, 2010, 01:32:28 AM
since we have music to go with this story, how about character art?
i have an idea of Luna's appearance that i automatically think of each time she gets mentioned
1133  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: Catherine from Persona team on PS360 on: August 24, 2010, 07:37:52 PM
kotaku probably took one look at Vincent in P3P and decided it must be related
though maybe it will have some connection besides that.
concerning that promiscuity thing holding back character development, I think it seemed like she was flirting in a similar way to Chizuru from Kanokon, and for a game like this with "serious and darkly-toned" written all over it, that could be a really bad thing.
I'd guess she is probably a result of those dreams he has and is a fantasy (like a wet dream) made real.
edit: new stuff on silliconera about this game (and that giant, weird hand thing)
1134  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Let's design the most cliche RPG story ever on: August 24, 2010, 07:13:45 PM
I had a feeling that something in that post would be mixed up or "wrong" because this story is so long and unorganized

but there's something I really want to do with him

you make it sound dirty

Hiro: You what?

Miles: I've been spying on you guys.

Hiro: You sonofabi-

Bob: Wasn't it obvious?

Hiro: No, I'm completely oblivious to everything around me.

Miles: So it's okay for Luna to do it, but not me?

Hiro: That is so unfair. She is a scantily clad female and I'm highly attracted to her.

Luna: Thank you?

Raul interjects.

Raul: Why would you do this to us?

Miles: Because Balrog has my family and he threatened to kill them if I didn't spy on you. I also have an uncontrollable bladder so I "take leaks" frequently and he promised to make it stop if I did this for him.

Raul: I'm sorry about your family, but that is definitely too much information. Now you, Luna.

Miles sulks emotionally.

Luna: I did it for money. I'm poor and he took advantage of that.

Hiro: Money? Wouldn't he probably go back on those promises?

Luna: Yeah, though I'm not greedy. I needed a way to get some money and thought maybe I could beat him with you guys and take all his money.

Miles: And he told us about a way to make us normal again.

Hiro: Really? How?!

Luna: We have no idea.

Hiro: Awwww.

Bob: Hiro, shouldn't you ask them about Rosa?

Hiro: OH YEAH, ROSA. We've been through so much, I totally forgot about her. Do you know if Rosa is okay?

Miles: You're such an awful childhood friend. But yeah, she is.

Luna: That sounds a little weird coming from you. Oh and she's in his lair because all bad guys like him keep young girls like Rosa in lairs because this is a JRPG.

Sasuke: Do you happen to know the location of this lair thingy?

Miles: Nope.

Hiro: ARGH, what should we do next?

Raul: Continue talking?

Teressa: He has a point.

Mary (Sue): Someone should stop him.

Sasuke: Hiro, you mean that place my summon spirit told me about? I wanna go with you.

Hiro and Sasuke go running outside because they have short attention spans. A street vendor that we saw a while ago stops them and shows them a handkerchief.

Vendor: I got this from an underground fortress with a really long name. Wanna buy it?

Sasuke: No thanks, but could you lead us to that place?

Vendor: Sure, but it'll cost you.

Everyone suddenly comes running out and drags Hiro and Sasuke back inside.

Luna: We still have a lot of stuff to talk about. Miles did you finish up talking about yourself?

Miles: I think so, though I may have forgotten something. Who should go next?

Why was Firefly canceled after one season

It sucked.

a better example than that would be battlestar galactica (except it was extremely successful).
dunno about firefly though.
and a (probable) game equivalent would be FF13
1138  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / Re: Dexter (massive spoilers ahead) on: August 23, 2010, 01:05:04 AM
that is a good point, but that video makes it look like everything is about to end and because it looks a lot more epic than any previous seasons
though this could be a way to increase ratings
1139  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / Dexter (massive spoilers ahead) on: August 23, 2010, 12:07:53 AM
season 5 of Dexter starts next month.
I watched season 4 on dvd a few days ago and I get a feeling this next season will (sadly) be the last one.
anyone else have an unhealthy obsession with this show?
