General Discussions / Real Money Traders in MMOs....
« on: December 10, 2012, 08:37:42 AM »
Ok, so I've been playing FFXI for about 2 years now, with 2 years of PSU and a year of random free to play MMOs, and all this time, real money trading haa been a dominate force behind these games. You get people who don't wanna work who are willing to spend money to make progress in games that usually demand effort for rewards, it's no different from real life. Now personally, I've got a sense of honor (???) when I play games. I earn it, I own it, I keep it as a souvenier, but there are others who don't feel this way as strongly, and as a gamer, I feel this has isn't as huge an issue as companies make it to be. On the contrary, I feel that selling an item or service for a real monetary value is ingenious. So why do so many people frown upon it? Even worse, why do companies like Square Enix and Blizzard go so far to stop it? I can understand that as I don't own the game, selling materials amd items I have found in it are not legal, but in that respect, it's my time I am selling, and no company owns it. If I waste 2 years of my life farming a super rare item and then sell that item to a person, I am not selling him the item, but the extended amount of time I used in my life to obtain it. If I spend 6 hours a day farming cheap crap to sell for money that I intend to sell to someone else, why is this so heavily frowned upon? How does it destroy economies in these games? It's no different from a group of players exploiting high prices in a game by camping any and all places to obtain these items and control the price influx, just one merits a person doing this in a financial way. And as insult to injury, some of these companies offer their own variation, selling items or specialized currency in game for real value to obtain certain items or equipment otherwise inaccessible to players (casual players anyway).

Basically, why does it seem to be okay to condemn players who take advantage of lame people who rather pay to win? Even worse, why is it okay for the companies to take advantage of it?

General Games / Clan of Champions
« on: November 10, 2012, 06:51:38 PM »
Idk how I came across this, but I'm glad I did. It's an online action game for PSN. Kind of reminds me of a couple of psp games like Gods Eater Burst and Lord of Apocalypse, even Monster Hunter to a degree. You pick missions and complete them solo or up to 2 team mates over psn, and can have 3v3 team deathmatches as well for a vs option. Looks pretty cool, and it comes out on the 20th. Has anyone looked into this at all, as I think I read that it's been out overseas for quite a while.

General Games / Halo 4 (or is that 8 now?)
« on: November 07, 2012, 05:29:59 PM »
No comments or anything here about it yet, figured I'd take a risk and stir some conversation up. Game came out yesterday, picked it up, haven't played it yet. Looks pretty Halo-y, so I'm sold on that. Anyone playing/plan on playing it?

Anime, TV, and Movies / Robocop reboot 2014!

and unlike Dice and her BS shenanigans about Chrono Break, this is truefax.

Yes, not exactly from the mouth of the creator, and if you read a few of the paragraphs before the final "confirmation", it has been delayed and such for 7 years. However, with names like Gary Oldman and Samuel L. Jackson...I am crossing every appendage I can cross without great pain.

The Helper Monkey / Wii sensor bar help
« on: May 29, 2012, 05:16:37 PM »
Okay, here's the situation. I need to run a wii sensor bar to a location through a wall, only I can't put the cable through the wall anymore, as the walls are finished and a 20 dollar item isn't grounds for a several thousand dollar wall adjustment. So, my options are pretty limited...power the sensor bar through a local outlet, or a wireless option. My question is regarding powering it through local means. Is there a wii sensor bar or third party variation that can be plugged into an outlet, and if not, does anyone have a page or an idea of where I can go to find specifications for modifying it to use an ac adapter? Before anyone suggests candles or flashlights or anything, not an option, the bar is the most asthetically pleasing and has to be used.

I looked around already for simple voltage specs, and only found info from people who either couldn't speak english or typed horribly, but what I managed to gather was the bar is 7.5-12 volts, though third party bars are 5-6 volts. Also didn't get if that was ac or dc, which was problematic. If anyone could even tell me that, I'd be essentially set in stone. Thanks in advance.

General Games / Kinect racing stuff vs playstation 3 racing stuff.
« on: April 17, 2012, 05:15:37 PM »
Okay, been doing some research, and it's kinda iffy either way, so I'll ask a bunch of mature.....ish gamers instead.

I'm looking into playstation 3 and xbox 360 racing stuff for a friend. More specifically, kinect and move supported racing games. I see that on the ps3 side there is very little (no GT5 support, really?), and on the kinect side the games suck or are just way too childish and silly. So, what recommendations/advice do any of you all have?

Okay, been posting for a while here, and most of my good posts have been rants and rage induced walls of text. However, they always pertain to a certain topic, so I never get my full two cents in. I am dedicating a thread to my full on rants, and invite any and everybody to join in with their own or comments regarding mine or anyone elses' rants and raves. To kick this thread pff, I give you...

Okay, I know we all bitch about it and such, but dlc is getting ridiculous. 15 years of console gaming never once required me to buy additional content. Granted I don't have to buy it now, but that's like saying I don't have to pay for the bacon on my bacon cheeseburger....WHY DO I FUCKING ORDER A BACON CHEESEBURGER TO HAVE TO BUY BACON FOR IT AFTERWARDS?! I buy a goddamn game to play the game, not to see if they bring more stuff out so the okay game I bought will be less shitty later. What the fuck, when did it become okay to leave shit out of a game and sell it later? If sony sold me a new tv without a power cable, you bet your ass I'm getting my power cable for it immediately. This is such horseshit, and what makes it worse are the fucking masochistic fanboys who approve of dlc, and forcefeed it down everyone's face that dlc is good, etc etc. Fuck you, dlc is horsecock and we all know it. Capcom and it's fucking lame dlc maps for a game that isn't even fucking out yet, and then to really rub iodine in your open dick sore, they get EXCLUSIVE DLC based on where you fucking buy the game! Fuck that, I am not down with this shit, best buy is nowhere near me, and amazon is always second day after release, I am stuck with lamestop. LET'S ASSUME I buy the game right now, if my friend gets his from best buy, I don't even get to play the same dlc with him now.

I work as an audio video installation tech. I know I have used this reference before, but it really fits. If I was hired to install a television and sound system for a customer, then my job entails installing the television display either on a wall mount or a standard mount, and installing their chosen sound system, be it a multi channel surround system or a sound bar. I do not put the tv on a stand and turn it on and say done, but if you want to see an image, I have to charge you additional fees for hooking it up to a source, that's fucking part of the installation. If I don't finish installing it that day, I come back and finish, not tell them it's almost done and leave, and then charge them more to come back do the rest after we agreed on a price. This is proper business etiquette, anything else would be pathetic and an insult to my profession.

Fuck dlc, I am so fucking tired of it. At least ffxiii-2 is almost offering decent content, but capcom and its horseshit can die.

Okay, I have a samsung infuse (i997 model number i think). I am trying to transfer some files from my ps3 over to it via usb, but for reasons unbeknownst to me, the connection for mass storage keeps resetting. I've tried a different cable, different port on the ps3, cleaning the ports, and a few other tricks, but I have had almost no success. So, I am trying other methods to connect now, but google is of no help, seeing as the first 20 fucking pages are just reviews and help doing from a pc to the phone. I can't be bothered to do it the assinine way of a flash drive to the ps3 then to the pc then to my phone, it's 2 fucking music files. Sad part is I used to use my old samsung impression in lieu of an microsd card reader for file transferring on my ps3, so I know it works. Is it maybe a software issue on the newer phones, is my ps3 really dying at this point, is this all just a paradox of some sort? Plsase help!

General Discussions / Just when we thought it safe to play on psn....

Apparentley, anonymous is pissed at sony again....

Honestly, i'm at a loss. SOPA sounds good on paper, but the millions of retards who don't understand actual piracy and copyright laws will go on the offensive and throw banhammers at everything. Plus, what happens with user generated content like youtube or hulu, where a dumbass puts up parts of a video or something similar that's copyrighted material? Does the site get banned for it? Do we lose amazing stuff for general dumbassery? Not even getting into how anonymous decided they are gonna defend our interests again by attacking a company who defends the stopping of piracy. Hundreds of angry nerds won't be able to torrent whole seasons of crappy anime. STOP THE PRESSES GUYS, SHIT JUST GOT REAL!

Thoughts, input, discuss?

General Games / Ratchet and Clank: All for One

Eagerly awaiting this game. Big fan of R&C games since #2, and the coop factor looks like fun. Anyone else picking this up next tuesday?

The Helper Monkey / PS3 graphical issues
« on: October 12, 2011, 06:57:28 PM »
Okay, so first the system itself. I have an original 60 gig launch console, never repaired or modded, running essentially the same since day 1. I have only used blu rays and some ps1 and ps2 discs, never a dvd movie, bootleg or otherwise. Not a real point but i will mention i have used 7 different controllers on it, as well as a usb keyboard and headset, the Ps3 Eye camera, and have hooked my psp up to it a number of times, and have used the MS and SD slots on it.

Now the issue. Whenever i play certain (most) ps3 games, i get some very strange graphical problems. The biggest one is that certain parts of the terrain and characters will sometimes stretch all the way off the map, making for a strange experience to say the least. The latest game i played, deus ex, was a serious recipient of said errors. It also happens frequently in 3-D fighting games like tekken 6, Soul Calibur 4, and Tekken 5 DR. It hasn't affected the actual gameplay to the point of hampering my progress or entertainment, but it annoys the living hell out of me. Other noticeable issues are color getting skewed during areas loading up like in deus ex, and maybe it's just in my head but when the errors come up it feels like my ps3 chugs hard for it.

I heard from a few other ps3 owners that it could be a harddrive problem, but i figured lemme look around first. Any advice would be swell thanks.

Single-Player RPGs / Romancing SaGa (PS2)

So i picked this up apparentley a few years ago and forgot about it til recently. Been trying to get into it but it's pretty abusive to newcomers. Anyone have any good stories regarding their experience with this jagged edge gem of a game?

Apparently they're making a new MMO, and Wada claims he's nearly comfotable with XIV too...what the hell are they smoking?
