Many people fail at their job.
It's the way of things.
Glad my job isn't spellchecker...

"Conputer".....

....I came here expecting an actual fart joke... greatly disappointed.

That Sheena is pretty fucking awesome though.
3  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Which "Tales of" games have you played more than once? on: August 29, 2015, 07:52:29 PM
I have honestly never played through a tales title more than once. Almost did Xillia and Xillia 2 a second time, but caved less than halfway through on each. I tried Vesperia too, but I barely got up to Judith joining the first time before I caved. Idk what it is about tales games, but it usually takes a few days to beat one and by then I don't want to play it anymore.

At yet another anime convention. Things I did/learned thusfar:

-I ate a green cupcake from a jar. It had sprinkles on it and tasted like lemon.

-The bracelets are ticking timebombs, but security will kick you out if you remove them. They slowly draw tighter around your wrist, until it's impossible to cut them off. Hope you don't like having circulation in your hand! It's like a really slow Zero Escape penalty death, really.

-Screw the rules, I'm important. (Seriously, I'm kinda the editor-in-chief of the magazine that's a major sponsor for this thing. That has to count for something, right?)

-I finished my lecture on game journalism in exactly 60 minutes (the exact allotted time), question round included. I am awesome.

-Haven't been able to spend much time with my friends, sadly, but random strangers are fun to talk to, too. (This is how I learned the evil plastic that turns the bracelets can sometimes be removed by twisting the bracelet. However, if you are to late and the death trap has drawn too tight, you'll need to smash the plastic with a hammer or other heavy object. Without hitting your hand, of course. Fun times!)

-People made fun of my laptop. Yeah, I know it's old and bulky, but atleast it hooks up to the projectors with zero problems. Can't say that about your fancy smancy hyper sleek Apple products!

-I have a fan. She buys a jellyfish amigurumi from me every convention. This time she bought three. Soon, her collection will be larger than my stock (Twenty Jellies at a time, at most.)

-I kinda feel obligated to eat some fruit at breakfast, but my stomach nevers agrees. Threw half of the contents up behind some bushes. Hope nobody saw.

-Not-asthma is playing up again. Coughed through good chunks of the convention. Kinda suits the theme, though, which is zombies. Well, zombies and candy or something. Some sorta mix of deadly diseases and delicious desserts anyway.
If the event coordinators can't supply you with proper connections to hook your laptop up to a projector, someone needs to be fired. I have hdmi scalers, mini display port adapters, hdmi to dvi, dvi  to vga, every apple dongle known to man, and I even have s-video cables, not to mention rca to bnc adapters for when it's an old projector and only has bnc inputs.

If I can't get a conputer to display on a projector, I am a failure at my job.

405 bench press today... needed a spot for the last part of it though. I'm comfortable knowing it's in me however, as I picked it up off the rack and still raise it almost halfway up from my chest.

Now to continue my almight workout!
6  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Can you tell me about Suikoden II? on: August 28, 2015, 06:50:27 PM
Suikoden 2 is a decent game that I forgot almost all of because I only played it last year and I didn't care strongly for it.
7  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: The Great RPGfan Cook Off! on: August 28, 2015, 03:19:59 PM
I've always thought broccoli mac 'n cheese would work well, but the problem is broccoli is pretty soggy if you steam/boil it that makes the cheesy texture get all watery when you mix it in. Any suggestions to keep that out?
Smaller pieces of broccolie, well drained and dried. Try to keep them a bit undercooked by your liking before mixing it into the macaroni and cheese sauce, so as they will finish cooking when added in. Also, could try adding the broccoli into your cheese sauce base before adding it to the pasta.

Yeah... I mean, I get it. Lots of people like that in the world. ...Doesn't make it any less creepy to me.
Loving and caring for your pets is one thing. Regarding them as pseudo children is definitely another, much more disturbing thing.

All just my inept opinion, of course.
Animals commonly adopt different species into their litters. Why would it be any more uncommon forna human to regard an animal as an adopted child? It's odd, but it's nature...

It's frustrating how "FFVII OST" is synonymous with "One-Winged Angel" in many minds.  Yes, OWA is a masterwork, especially for its time, but the real genius of Uematsu is evident elsewhere in FFVII, in the tracks people don't talk about unless they're VGM aficionados*.  Tracks like "Anxious Heart", "You Can Hear The Cry of the Planet", "The Great Warrior", and "Desert Wasteland" that basically do all of the world-building all by themselves.  The fact that Uematsu's melodies were SO good that they could almost entirely replace the visuals... that's not something you can say about almost any other VGM composer.  Not only that, but the totally distinctive sound font and sheer volume of tracks composed is what sets this work above others and propels Uematsu into the Top 1% of composers.

I don't think that anyone could experience the FFVII OST and objectively make a case that Uematsu is not one of the all-time greats of his craft.  You'd either have to be clueless when it comes to music or have an agenda.

Now I have to go listen to all of those tracks I posted.

Heck, I'll just listen to the whole OST...

The initial theme you hear while assaulting the reactor and when escaping is one of my favorite pieces of music. Also, VII's standard battle theme is pretty great overall. Fuck OWA, it's overrated.

11  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Fire Emblem or Final Fantasy Tactics? on: August 23, 2015, 11:29:26 PM
That was like 1 of 2 battles in the entire game where if you over leveled, you would fight monsters that were at your level. And as you know, monsters at higher levels got stronger, but players at higher levels only knew more abilities, and they weren't necessarily stronger for it. To be fair, once you had a coral sword available to you, most equipment would suffice for battles, but even super gear would sometimes leave you fucked if you were dealing...with CHOCOBOS. Seriously, chocoball and chocometeor were so fucking ridiculously strong...I've seen Ramza at 99 on squire with the super escutcheon and maximillian and the best helmet that I forget get 1 shot by a chocoball.

Goddamn chocobos.
12  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Fire Emblem or Final Fantasy Tactics? on: August 23, 2015, 07:18:04 PM
I never had a MAJOR issue at Zirekile Falls, though getting mindflayer enemies could be problematic at times. My worst locations for fights were Barius Valley, and the one area you go through in chapter IV after Meliadoul with the long river map and the chocobos...

Fucking hated chocobos in tactics so bad.
13  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: FINAL FANTASY XV, This is a fantasy based on reality. on: August 23, 2015, 07:15:23 PM
I had this huge concept for an rpg battle system where you used magic based on the elements available to you. Like for example if you had a puddle close by, water magic, and if there was a metal pole you could use steel manipulation magic...wonder if this is what they're aiming for when they said  manipulate the environment?

Also. Everyone go tell Konami thay we want more console Suikoden and Vandal Hearts.
If we do that' they'll probably fire the development staff and give us a suikoden card game on mobile phones.
15  The Rest / The Helper Monkey / Re: PSVita Shopping: What is digital ONLY? on: August 22, 2015, 04:13:49 PM
The vita wikipedia article will link to a list of vita games that also gives you a yes or no answer to the physical copy question.

That's helpful! I wonder if I can simply copy/paste these tables into Wikipedia so I can filter instead of sort. And get A-Z on there, not that A-L M-Z split.

I'll check it out tonight. Thanks D!
Good luck sir.
