Hey....nanomachines...

Metal Gear is not about that. Nanomachines are part of the narrative, but the series is not about that.
Metal Gear?!

Edit: on topic, what time does the next testing date start? I had just started leveling pug, since only a fool trusts his life to a weapon (that was for you ygg, I still love you as a fellow metal gear fan).

I watched a small mortar turn over on its side and fire at a group of people for 10 seconds....good times.

I don't wanna quote Kevadu's earlier reply, but that didn't sound too bad honestly. Unless during the drinking you began discussing the legitimacy of large battle mechs and ki projection and manipulation...in which case then it sounds awesome.

^There you go again shoving your point of view down people's throats. :p

About Lightning being in ARR Ehren Rivers from the Nova Crystallis site made a good post about that:

"Well, this is pretty much Yoshida's doing. Toriyama revealed that they'd put a XIV default gear (Miqo'te) into Lightning Returns as a costume for he, seemingly as a "congrats" for turning things around so amazingly with XIV. Yoshida didn't want to let the favor go unreturned, and was excited to see what he could do with it.

EDIT: And to be clear, Yoshida loves the nostalgia factor and will likely continue to jam-pack ARR with stuff from older Final Fantasies."

And that's it.

Canon, continuity, plot holes, who gives a fuck?

Tell that to any Metal Gear fan.
Hey....nanomachines...

@Akanbe-: Gonna put this in spoiler tags just in case.

Code:
The ending in itself is not mind blowing, is all that you went through to get there and reach that climax in the narrative that makes the impact of that scene in particular more meaningful to the player.

Naughty Dog knew what they wanted to do and pull it off.
There's a certain line of text one gets right after beating the star dragon in Lunar 2's epilogue that sort of fits the feeling I had for the ending...

Ahh 4th of July. 2 days after my birthday, and 2 days before the anniversary of my mother passing away. As you can guess, generally not a favorable day for me anymore. Still, everyone who still has some semblance of a soul,e joy the day and blow something up for me (preferably a MS based video game console).

It's just an event.

She's not part of the main story.

It's probably there because Lightning gets a FFXIV outfit in Lightning Returns.
I mean I love Lightning and all, second hottest FF heroine next to everyone's favorite doormat Tifa, but fuck she's a terrible character. 2 games devoted to her and a whole sidequsst dlc in a game about finding her... fuck already, let the character die gracefully already. No one revived Aeris, even though EVERYONE tried (numerous cameos and prequels don't count).

If I get crap for spoilers here btw, the person who complains better get banned for having nit played FFVII yet.

Canon, continuity, plot holes, who gives a fuck? You want the perfect story write it yourself. These guys are making it, you are fully allowed to choose whether you like it or not, but that's pretty much the extent of your allowances.

On a side note, whos' bright idea was it to include Lightning in XIV? Seriously, XIII is not that good why the hell is it getting so much push? Did a writer lose a bet with some perverted old man and have to make his fanfiction come true?

At Anime Expo.  Day 0 just ended and I'm already exhausted just from running around doing unofficial events.  Is that a good or bad sign...
Depends, by unofficial events, do you mean massive orgies with hot cosplayer chicks (dudes if that's your thing), or discussion panels where you discuss the legitamcy of large battle mechs and ki manipulation for flying and energy projection purposes?
1360  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: What's the haps? on: July 03, 2013, 10:54:46 AM
So I called a mulligan for my birthday this year. Considering I started traveling to work yesterday at 7:30am and got home after 12:00am this morning, my day was a bust. Everyone gets a mulligan for their birthday one time, right?

Maybe that's what Joel was supposed to be thinking too?

WHhhhoooooaaaaaaa....

So being that it's a fungal parasite and not actually a virus or infection, perhaps that would displace some of your theory, Ashton?

I still like what you said though, that whole thing made some sort of no sense in my head, but it had to happen in such a way given the story progression. Character redemption, etc
1363  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: What's the haps? on: July 02, 2013, 12:14:40 AM
Happy birthday to me....

Gotta get up in 5 and a half hours.

At least no one got arrested this year :)

I've beat the game.
Code:
It doesn't really matter that it attacks the brain "first," it shouldn't even reach it because it has to reach the brain through the bloodstream, and if it's not causing any damage in the brain, it means it's being eradicated before reaching the brain by the host immune system. I just find this to be more than a bit unbelievable; the first immune human ever and you're going to cut her up? It flies in the face of any sort of logical thought process.[/URL]
It does seem a bit flawed. Course, a mushroom virus that turns you into a zombie-esque freak is a tad outlandish itself.
1365  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: Naughty Dog's The Last of Us on: July 01, 2013, 11:32:18 PM
Through a purely observational point of view,
Code:
doesn't the cordyceps virus attack the brain first according to the game, and usually within minutes of infection, leading to the runner stage of infection in about a day? I'm basing it on the fact that most details regarding infection in game show brain x rays and head scans. I mean,it's a fictional disease so facts are laughable, but idk how far you've gotten and maybe you missed some stuff...just tossing it out there.
