1441  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: XBOX: A New Generation Revealed, May 21st on: May 21, 2013, 02:58:57 AM
@Agent D.: Dunno how to feel about this "hunger" for new hardware that I've seen lately to be honest.
It's got me at an impass too. Everyone wants the next gen....but this gen hasn't done much to video games as a whole, just polished old shit basically. Sure, Uncharted was great, and MGR Rising was a nice little addition to action, and Motion Sensing has made (some kind of) impact on us all...but what do we really have to show for this generation? More competition regarding who can make the same game sell more, a bunch of old FPS games with new paint, the re-emergence of third person shooters, and the amazingly long awaited sequels to Street Fighter III (meh) and Marvel vs Capcom 2 (double meh). People are so eagerly awaiting the next generation....but this generation was just last generation with a facelift. Hell, some of the last gen stuff was better done too. Why rush to make these newer, prettier games that no one really sits down and enjoys anymore? When was the last time you stopped and actually took in your game? The subtle humor, the imaginative artistry, the silent hero whom you imagine yourself as and speak his lines of dialogue in your head. I think in terms of ground breaking gaming, the best we got was Mass Effect. It's almost as bad as tv these days, we get one fucking awesome show, and a billion fucking reality shits about 6 guido wannabes or a 6 year old piglet with a moron mother or another fucking talent show. (sorry, this last part is a bit america-only) Hey America, if we're so fucking talented, how about we make something that's actually entertaining or even impressive? How about we make a stride in video games again that isn't the amazing detail in Kasumi's breast physics?

Nah, next gen will be awesome, the big thing will be how men's packagaes actually adjust to compensate for movement.

So I post a "haps" in the what's the haps topic, and rather than post a haps of your own, you attempt to degrade my own. Thanks, that's pretty awesome of you pal.

What use are you over in America, Agent. D.

I need you to help me move furniture, my girly arms are not fit for the job.

Besides the couch, I put all the furniture together in my study.

I felt it was a testament to my womanly strength.
My sister would call me to move her table in her living room when she wanted a new look...dice is a man's (wo)man!

Guys...I have made a huge leap in my progress.

1080 pound leg press.

5 times.

Over half a fucking ton.

Best part was is according to lifting logic, if you can do it 6 times, you can do more....and I did 5.

I think that this whole thing with the elongated lifespan of these systems is only going to add to the draw to end development for the current gen faster. Ps4/xbox whatever/wii-u are all going to get phased in very quickly, and our current consoles are going to get phased out fast now. I don't see anything new coming out for the wii anymore, and I only here about how people are developing new console stuff. Ps2 lasted a good couple years after the triple was released, and xbox....well everyone was still playing ps2 anyway.

I have this feeling that this new console generation is going to have a bigger impact than any other....negative or otherwise. In any case, I think things are going to change soon.

I'm a little biased about GG honestly, I've played a number of them and never liked any of them, especially the storyline.

It's pretty, but it's still guilty gear. Not a fan of the 2000 rehashes they made in the last decade, and never really liked the game to begin with. That being said, again, it does look pretty.

1450  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Re: FFXI turns 11, time for a trip down memory lane... on: May 17, 2013, 04:26:42 AM
Blame Parn, he coerced me and a few of our buddies to start playing back in early late 2009 iirc, and quickly left us all high and dry. It's all Parn's fault! Lynch him!!!!!!
1451  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Re: Rift is great, and you have no excuse for not playing it. on: May 17, 2013, 04:04:21 AM
Non-console....next please.

Special memory huh?

My first retirement from XI was pretty memorable. I had been in a linkshell for 2ish months at that point, and spent alot of time working on making our shell nice. Farmed pop items for abyssea, did early fell cleave runs for my ls members to get them some easy level ups, fought mobs that gave no real benefit for most anyway in our shell outside of 1 person, and often helped 1 certain member, Tonius was his name, with a number of solo projects he was doing. I thought we got along pretty well, he told me about how he was dating this girl and gonna get married to her soon, and problems he was having with his job (a roofer), and other things, meanwhile I'd be killing a fuckton of enemies for his weapon trials or an NM or other things. Cut ahead to the day of infamy, I had been busy with rl shit for a couple weeks and hadn't been on much. I get on and say hey to the shell, and seconds later I get kicked out. Started asking members wtf why'd I get booted and they pointed to tonius, who after a set of tells back and forth made it pretty clear he was a twat fuck jerkoff who'd been using me for bullshit and making sure everyone in the shell thought I was a dickwad and talking shit behind everyone's back. Literally an entire shell thought I was dirt now, and being that Hathen at this point was busy with his shell and none of my other pals still played, I said fuck it, this was drama I didn't need and promptly ended my account.

Year and change latet, ashtrot and daggerstrike had started playing and I decided it was a possibly good time to.get back into the game with a couple pals. Neither of them lasted very long....

Long story short, FFXI made my life very...drama filled.

1454  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Wishful thinking: What would you want in a hypothetical Grandia 4? on: May 16, 2013, 02:57:36 PM
It was only in 3 where I found boss health annoying. 2 and 1 were easy comparitively. Grandia 2's final boss was a cakewalk btw, I swear I never found any difficulty fighting him.

Grandia 3 is actually the one grandia where I was significantly overleveled for everything. I still found bosses annoyingly long, but never challenging.
1455  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Square Enix plans for the future, Doom and Gloom on: May 16, 2013, 02:49:42 PM
I know VP is popular among this crowd, but did those games even sell well?  It never really struck me as a big name franchise for S-E.
That's because the VP games didn't sell well. Even after the first got a remake on psp which made it better, it still didn't perform so well. VP is a cult hit at best.

I kind of think of Square Enix like a bad friend right now. They've been messing around with stuff they shouldn't, and it's pissing me off. They try to come back and show they've changed, but they just cover they're shit with more shit. Either we cut them off completely and they realize their errors, or they keep sinking until they're completely gone. We can't buy into their bullshit, we have to stand strong no matter how hard they beg and how much they plead and offer us gifts, it won't make them wake up and realize they're only hurting themselves in the long run.
