We dont know it is a goof article, all I said is that's what i remember reading ( maybe I did get fooled, who knows). I never read anything definitive that said they were or were not related. Unless you think anything written on that day is a goof? I just don't feel like arguing about it ( I regret bringing it up).
On topic:
The controls on this game are fine. And Ive already put about 50 hours into it.
Ive always enjoyed ff 12, and this is how I imagine a sequel to that game would be like.
Ive had it imported for some time and I can say its up there in my top 100.
Doesn't really answer my question though. Motion controls are obnoxious and a waste. I work enough, I don't want my video games giving me fucking tennis elbow after spending 2-5 hours in a small space running cable through fiberglass insulation and exposed nails. My dislike for the wii is saved for a different topic, but my question stands on if a gamecube controller is useable as a play method or if you're stuck doing silly wave motions in the air to do a super move when pressing X would have sufficed.

Thanks Lucca!
Is it looka or lucka?
Looka! Just like Chrono Trigger's Lucca! Given the fact the game came out when voice acting wasn't an option... it is a good question. I'm mostly happy we pronounce it the same then too haha I hated when people said "Tee-dus" for FFX's "Tide-us"/(Titus). Pronunciations are fun. I just said it like the comedian but with more d. He was about as funny....which wasn't all that much. Relevant....sweet chili sauce is the best sauce ever. Put it on everything.

Its debatable. And thats the last I want to talk about that.
Monolith has a new rpg project they are working on and its either "xeno" related or baten
Wait, you bring a goof article as documented proof to a debate, and then decide to cut your losses and end the conversation? Wow.... Anyways, something I didn't look at in here, but are you stuck using shitty motion controls ala every fucking terrible wii game ever? Gotta say, if so, will not be running to play this as fast as I thought. Better yet, can you use a gamecube controller to play?

Hey xenosaga is awesome (well not 2 so much but eh), I wasn't trying to knock it. Xenoblade just got me wanting to play all of the xeno games again. Also yeah, NOTHING in the xeno prefix games is connected outside of xenosaga and its sequels. It's well known by anyone who looks into the games directly. Xenogears isn't related to saga and neither to blade, saga just used some gears stuff for reference bits and nostalgia really. Hell, even shion and jin's last name uzuki is no relation to citan from xenogears. Sucks though, would have made more of an impact if the sword style jin used was derived from the uzuki line, developed by his ancestor citan, right?
Damn I wanna play this game. Wish april would get here faster, cuz I hate importing.

As I eagerly await this title, I decided to run through xenosaga again. Seriously, I forgot how long those cutscenes are. My Ps3 remote keeps auto turning off. And damn is it slow paced. Nostalgia is a bitter mistress at times.

In all fairness, most of the rpgs of the last five years have been less than phenominal. Trails in the sky, radiant historia, and mass effect 1 and 2 were really the only 4 I can call really impressive. FF has been letting its fans down for some time now, with sloppy game after sloppy game and a dozen fucking remakes. XIII-2 I think is the first new (ish) ff game in the last 5 years that actually makes me remember what I like about rpgs so far, a good grasp of everything. Good battle system, stuff to do, pretty graphics, good tunes, funny characters, the works. I'll say outright, XIII-2 is far from groundbreaking, but it's doing something that no FF game has done for some time...be pretty decent overall. Nothing is lagging too terribly on it (the story doesn't seem that lame yet...). Call me a fanboy, but I still am excited about this, not cuz it's wowomgfuckwinsuperneato, but because it is doing things right again.
Now maybe square enix will take a daring step further ahead and make the next main character of a ff game a badass through and through. Kind of like shepard in mass effect, or even better... Ryudo from grandia 2 for the first 65% of the game. God he was awesome. A good, strong willed protagonist who doesn't take nonsense from people, isn't in it for the greater good, and simply does what he has to because he has to. Oh, and he has to like kids. I don't know what it is, but badass heroes who like kids are such a positive mark for me. See some burly, grizzly, Barret from ffvii looking mofo playing with a bunch of kids. Not like that pussy Cloud who only played with a kid to get points with Tifa (or Barrett if you were swinging that way...).
....I'm bored, so I typed a lot.

So basically, if I write a book about a guy who is in love with a girl, and he's so psychotically in love with her that he does things that an otherwise normal person wouldn't do in order to "impress" her, girls would eat it up and buy it like it was going out of style?
I'd like to interest you in my story of the demon warrior Rufus, who over the course of his 4 centuries of life has killed many villianous figures, and even some not so villianous. But one day, a brisk winter evening as a matter of fact, he comes across a charming young girl who's down on her luck after picking up everything she had to be with who she thought was the love of her life in Iowa. After finding out he was an abusive scumbag, she left everything she had and ran from him. Rufus comes across her in a dark alley shaking in fear, and as he offers her a hot cup of coffee to help stave off the freezing cold, the abusive scumbag pulls up in his car with a couple friends and a baseball bat.
Bet you're kinda wondering what happens next? Fuck off, make your own strange demon/human love tale.

Eh? And what's so bad about what I said? Final Fantasy IX is a comfort food RPG. Mac 'n cheese is comfort food. And, yeah, it was my favorite of the Playstation FF games. And even in our "Best of the Decade" feature, I put FFIX in my list because from 2000- 2010 is was my favorite FF game.
I'm not a big SRPG fan to begin with, but Tactics Ogre > Final Fantasy Tactics in my mind.
Not that I knew you to begin with but..... Man, I don't even know you anymore! Jokes aside, IX was definitely its own little niche ff title. Each of the other games has its own comparitive notes toward each other, but IX always felt distinguished among them. You say mac and cheese, buy I think a good hearty meatloaf is a better description. Alot of stuff thrown together to form one major mass of deliciousness that some love, others hate, but everyone should at least try once. It always tastes a bit different when you try it again later. But srsly, ff tactics is bestest ever.

Watched the last hour of "Underworld Awakening" last night. I was incredibly pissed that I missed the first 30 minutes, because I enjoyed the hour I saw. Kate Beckinsale never looked better in her leather beatdown suit, and her daughter was pretty enjoyable as the munchkin headshredder she was. The plot twist was kind of expected, but still came out of nowhere. Also, the ending was a little bleh, kinda just happened like "oh hey, she killed the guy so we're done til underworld 5" which is definitely likely. Almost as terrible as how Fast Five ended, which coincidentally was also an awesome movie. I definitely recommend it to anyone who was dissappointed by the third movie, which was a terrible shitfest.
