Just got to lindblum, zidane is level 14, everyone else is roughly 9 cuz I solo'd with him for a little while. Was gonna try for thevking of the jump rope thing, but after getting 37 jumps in a row and then failing for 20 minutes, I gave up. Already tossed any chance of getting excalibur II out the window after accidentally leaving it running at the start for 2 hours while I watched TV and ate dinner. I'm no speed runner in rpgs, I am a grinder.

Oh yeah, just for shits and giggles, I renamed everyone.
Zidane=Agent D
Vivi=Quark
Steiner=Lardass
Dagger=Dumbfuk
Freya=Ratface

Dunno about Amarant, Quina, and Eiko yet...probably equally silly names. I gotta say, naming Steiner Lardass has resulted in a few chuckles, but dagger as Dumbfuk has had me giggling. It makes every conversation with her feel sarcastic (I.E. "Good job, Dumbfuk"). It's the little things that keep me going in life...

It reminds me of MMO logic...never hear about the good tweaks and adjustments from players, only the bad ones are ever spoken about.

This topic has made me want to play IX again, so I just finished buying and downloading it off psn. I'm kind of excited, haven't played it in YEARS.

Maybe not, but again...look at what they have to put up with? Arrogant teens who carry more than a loaded ego. Crazy guys who spent months on the internet learning the chemical compositions of explosives and how to make home made detonators. Jesus-freaks who feel they need to clean the world of sin. My sister's moronic exboyfriend who walked around with a loaded handgun looking to act tough all the time. These kinds of threats  require more than a simple "cease and desist" from a single officer. Going beyond that, the sheer idea that walking into a situation with a guy who may have a gun on him and is high out of his mind is an average day for a police officer...poor judgement calls can be made, and stupid reactions to these judgement calls are sure to follow.

I'm basically not gonna blame police for being human, when people are the ones being fucking horrible. The fact that even one time a police officer will risk his life for a greater good trumps any bullshit action he may do. He doesn't have to, he could be a useless fuckhole selling weed to kids outside of a local highschool, or a corporate lacky firing 20% of his staff for a bigger paycheck...but instead he (and I realize I keep using he, I apologize for this, as there are many women in law enforcement too) goes out 5-6 days a week with a bullet proof vest on and looks for trouble in order to stop it. When was the last time one of us did that? I can safely say I don't  do that ever...though maybe I should. I'm tired of assholes ruining my neighborhood and all the good people living in it.

I'm sorry if I seem a bit edgy on this subject...I've just seen a lot of morons in my life who make being a police officer dangerous. I've alao has a gun pointed at me when I was in high school....in the school. I would have given anything for a police officer to have been there...waan't a fun experience.
1550  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Ex-Cop Begins Killing Family Members of Officers, Claims it's for a Greater Good on: February 24, 2013, 03:27:57 PM
So basically, cops are the badguys unless they do something good, then they're the ok guys? I don't get it, we see what people have become today, psychotic freaks with weapons and knowledge capable of destroying many lives, what do you expect the police to do? It's hard enough to get competent people to want to become police officers, they get nothing but shit every day from the people they're supposed to be protecting. Cops are racist, cops are jerks, cops are out to get you, cops are crooked....fuck, I wouldn't want to risk my life to save assholes like that, and especially for the pay they're offered to do it. So a SERIOUSLY SMALL percentage of law enforcement personal are in fact assholes, fine. Same can be said for massive corporations, military branches, and the government, but not everyone in these places are in fact out to simply make your life miserable....most actually are not.

When my dad got arrestted for disorderly conduct last year, which was COMPLETELY UNFOUNDED and mostly a single nervous officer trying to display a a controlling presence, I didn't blame the cop for doing it, I blame all the other 6 foot 3 psychos out there who would in fact be dickheads and try to do something he couldn't stop. It sucks....blame society for forcing their hands.

Watching an episode of TBS's "The King of the Nerds"...when did being a nerd consist of just being a brainiac or a hipster? These people aren't nerds, they're barely even passable as uncommon to the norm. So what you like video games and computers? Most of america's younger generation likes them too.

It's sad times when you call yourself a nerd to seem impressive.

My 3 week long cold finally let up enough to go to the gym today, and I am pleased that I can stilll pull stuff at full capacity. Did a back workout, and none of my numbers went down.

Had to move my sister's ancient ass rear projection tv out of her apartment today. 50inch monster, I had to remove her back door to get it out of her apartment, which is a basement apartment, so I also had to carry the 250 lb monstrosity up the steps.

It waa harder to bring it in the house than carry it out.

TCP/IP enabled in the properties?
About the only thing I can think of at the moment.

Also, maybe try and update the network card's drivers.
Could be shitty default drivers.
Well, I thought it might be drivers, but the port was working not too long ago, we needed to use the laptop to program sonos connect units. My father swears that he was hardwired to a router on it not too long ago, but I think he's going senile, so w/e.

Dunno about tcp/ip, don't recall it being changed ever though.
1554  The Rest / The Helper Monkey / Tech problem, DNS error. on: February 22, 2013, 04:25:33 PM
So as the topic title suggests, the issue I'm having is a DNS error. It's on my sister's laptop, a lenovo thinkpad (i.e. a piece of shit). I know it's the laptop because I tried connecting my friend's laptop to her newly installed cable modem and he got on immediately, and I reset the modem numerous times during the troubleshooting. To further the issue, I took the laptop to my house and tried connecting online with it and same problem. So for a quick rundown...

I am trying to connect the laptop via a wired connection to the internet and receiving a DNS error, but only through the ethernet port as the wireless works fine. When the ethernet cable is plugged in, the small recognition lights next to the port flicker, showing me it sees the cable, but when I check the status of the connection, it shows no information coming in. I'm thinking the port may have been damaged, but short of pulling the whole thing apart, I can't tell.

What I will ask for here is a way to run maybe a diagnostic on the port itself, or should I just ditch the wired connection, go wireless, and upgrade the laptop instead?

I have a debit card, Eusis, but like I said, I have been having issues with account fraud, which has resulted in my account being frozen before. It cost me a job because we couldn't pick up materials in a timely fashion, and in the freelance AV world, no one cares what excuse you have.

Anyways, how long is the game, roughly speaking?
1556  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance on: February 21, 2013, 12:06:01 AM
Just making sure I placed the part in parenthesis about how I applied recently for one with poor results....yeah I did.
1557  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance on: February 20, 2013, 11:40:03 PM
Just start using credit cards. If you are uncomfortable with credit, just have one card you use when you need to.

Honestly, my brother got the LE. I saw the plasma lamp. Not impressed. Glad I didn't put down $150 for it ...
3 friends of mine are in fairly serious credit card debt. Fuck credit cards they are demonic (I applied for one recently and was rejected, poor credit rating).
1558  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance on: February 20, 2013, 11:18:52 PM
Quit giving them your business.
It's a similar issue to radioshack, I hate the company, not the people that work there. Most of the employees are pretty cool people, and I enjoy being able to talk to them. Plus, a sheer lack of places to purchase specific special edition games from forces my hand. I could go without the cooler version, but why cut my nose to spite my face? Before you say online order, I've been having issues with my bank account, and my account has been frozen due to it before, so I try to avoid online purchases when possible. Yeah, the problems are resolved fairly quickly, but my current business goings require I have large amounts of money available, and a frozen account can screw up situations quick like. I'm going to look into some prepaid cards for amazon for future purchases though, or just go through my personal buddy for smaller game purchases instead.

Also, stop trying to quell my rage with logic, Ashton, I AM PISSED!
1559  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Playstation Meeting, Feb. 20th on: February 20, 2013, 10:01:09 PM
No one was gonna buy Plasma tvs either....then they lowered in price, improved in fu.ctionality, and are now the best tvs on the market....second to 4ks only.

Course....they could go the way of DLP...
1560  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance on: February 20, 2013, 09:38:00 PM
So infinite rage continues. Failstop screwed up a shitton of preorders for the LE version, and the EARLIEST i can get mine is next week, meanwhile it's 170ish dollars sitting in their fucking cashdrawer and I'm without my fucking game. Best part is the fucking kid explaining to me why I can't get it earlier.

"We have to honor a customer's preorder for 48 hours before we can ship copies to another store".

So I BOUGHT the game in full, not just placed a measly 25 bucks down on it, and my preorder was neglected enough that I don't get it for a week. How come the dick who didn't pick his up gets the benefit of the doubt and another 24 hours to get his? This is horseshit.
