I get to work at the waldorf astoria today. How enthralling!

Actually, marauder can outdps warrior due to more cross class abilities. I don't swap out cuz I'm a warrior always all the time, plus pc use is sort of required for the 5 extra cross class abilities that you'll cycle in.

Also, I like girls, but this time, it's about JUSTICE!

It was mostly because you said this

I didn't have the heart to tell him three friends and I cleared it twice the night before with no relics and no DL, and it was our first time in WP.

Which made me think you don't like it when people shout for relic-only parties. For the record I've never done shout groups myself either, I always either go with friends or use the DF. I'm hardly picky about who I go with as long as they arn't the kind of players that are halfway asleep when they play the game and get hit by every AoE.

i think the lack of logical progression at endgame is a real problem. in ffxi i never felt like my gear was an issue for progression

I'm not sure what you mean by "logical", if anything the precise problem with MMOs now is that progression is too "logical" in that its tiered into specific levels of difficulty (ilevel) instead of having a ton of lateral progression that games like XI (used to) have. It's done because it's easier to design for because lateral expansion of a game's content means they have to constantly think of new ways to challenge the player, whereas in vertical progression the only thing you need to really do is increase the numbers and you're done for the day. So far they've been pretty good about the variety in the boss fights, but its easier to do that when you only have a few boss fights. We'll see what happens as we get more content.

i don't think you get what i'm getting at...titan hm is the only content that would require a primal weapon. so your getting it to clear one fight then it's obsolete...
How is it obsolete? You have 900 tomes ready to buy your relic afterwards? Do you think you'll actually beat titan in one go? Did you know you can only use relic weapons on the job and not on the class? In some small cases, using the class aline has more benefits lime extra cross class abilities accessible and more slots for them, and classes still get to use the primal weapons, which are the stronges weapons available before relic. The whole game is about linear progression in terms of gear, and often times you ended up replacing new armor with something better very quickly. This is no different.

I guess a lot of my bitterness comes from the fact that I get sucked into depression knowing that my warrior has been worked on so hard and everyone bitches about me not being a pld instead. I had to work twice as hard as most players to get what I have now simply due to number crunchers stating warriors are inferior, meanwhile I've saved 4 titan runs as a war because I learned every trick possible to fight him, and continuously due stuff for people like chimera and hydra just to show that a skilled war is far better than a shitty pld. When I see someone get a relic I get almost jealous knowing that they're just getting more options open to them and I get to rage at how another pld is gonna get picked over me for Coil runs.

To help you understand my rage better, 2 pld party for turn 1 last night, both were in full DL and with relic +1. Neither could effectively do BC with the strat the leader suggested. When I explained my war strat, which revolved around simply eating hits instead of nerfing buffs, we won on the second attempt. The leader refused my war because they wanted to be safe with 2 plds. My strategy worked over his....

I swear to god Warrior was literally designed for me as a person, as I am always at max wrath and constantly use Infuriate.

People are getting offended, it seems, so I'm gonna back away from this convo before I insult someone directly.

At the end of the day, we all have different opinions in regards to playstyle. I may not like it, but I'll continue to deal with it as such, as will any of us playing the game. The game still keeps our attention, so it does something right.

You have a relic lance. You joining an AK run and not knowing what to do on the bosses is unfair to the rest of the players who see you with a weapon far beyond the level of the dungeon you're running. I can't see how it's elitism when you're basically telling me that we should hold your hand when you're using equipment everyone busts their hump to get. Please understand that I'm not referring to you directly, just the concept of players in general who get their gear handed to them and get mad when people complain how they suck. It's infuriating to see one person fuck up and make everyone else work harder to cover their slack, especially when the player has stuff that takes work to get. It's like the one guy in an office who does nothing but still gets paid, but he's also in a higher position than you.

I spent a lot of time teaching people how to run AK, and WP,and now even turn 1 of BC. So don't think me an elitist, as I can be upset about how my time is spent teaching people how to play when they oughta do that themselves.

A relic wielder who can't run AK...

kyuusei, I say this only to be fair, you are the reason I hate duty finder.

Be fair, we carry newbs through ak all the time, lol.

Hahahaha. Fucking AWESOME.

He's got a good point, if I'm forming the run I usually get to call the preferences out. I'm not one to complain about gear in regards to simple dungeon runs, but if we're doing garuda and you're in full AF armor.....we have a problem. Same deal with titan, don't bother without at least a primal weapon (preferably garuda's) and full AK armor (accessories are less needed but still preferred). If you have full AK gear then you should be able to afford at least a piece of good DL gear too.
1556  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Re: Final Fantasy XIV: ARR, a Thread Reborn on: November 03, 2013, 04:06:30 PM
If you have the AK body for your drg, don't worry about the dl body yet, though as a drg you may want some darklight before attempting titan anyway. Bombs can get dangerously close to one shotting you, so you may want the gear to survive an accidental bomb you didn't avoid in time. If you can win before getting any darklight gear at all, I'd say Gae Bolg would take priority, then dl armor as you desire starting with your lowest end pieces, then accessories. The Gae Bolg is 3 damage higher than then next best spear you can have which is garuda or titan's or the HQ Obelisk, and has better stats than any of the 3, so it's definitely worthwhile in pure damage, and given that you're a drg damage is imperative. Doing terribly basic eyeball math, I've seen that 30 strength is about a 10% damage increase, so keep that in mind when selecting gear upgrades (though this observation was made on warrior, and doesn't take determination into account).

I'm actually stuck with a hard choice to make right now. I still am working on my war for gear and such, but now that my drg is nearly full DL and has a Gae Bolg, idk if I should +1 it yet, or continue buying myth upgrades for my war. Really a hard decision :(

What happens to a person's consciousness when they die.

I may be there, depending on if I have to carry some guild buddies through some bosses in FFXIV. Hard to fight titan AND answer questions about IX at the same time.
1559  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Re: Final Fantasy XIV: ARR, a Thread Reborn on: November 02, 2013, 02:46:55 PM
It takes about 10 minutes to drop a primal. 9 possible weapons drop, and 1 is always guaranteed. Yeah, this isn't exactly outlandish to expect a play to dedicate a couple hours to getting a new weapon. If someone said relics only for titan, I'd get offended, but an ifrit or garuda weapon, those aren't hard to beat even with df groups.

In regards to datastorm.....wut? It's been 2 and a half months since official launch, and even at the worst level of 1 hour a day gaming, you should easily have a couple of pieces of Darklight gear and some AK stuff. If you're off leveling secondary classes and crafts, I can understand a tad that your current gear may be a bit underwhelming, but to insinuate that there's any challenge to the current end content that it's hard to have good gear is just terrible. At the end of the day, for an MMO, this is incredibly INCREDIBLY tame for a challenge in gear accrual and difficulty.

what is the principal problem with Titan? i'm a healer so i dont really know. i mean as long as everyone has ilvl 50 weapons it should be ok right? i mean its unrealistic to expect everyone to have ifrit or garuda weapons with only one drop per encounter imo.
The 1st part of the fight is a dps race when heart phase is going you only have a small window of time to kill it or its a wipe. You can be good and dodge everything but if ya don't got the dps its a wipe. That is the reason EVERYONE needs to be alive during heart. near the end of the fight its a dps race cause of the increasing stomps, unless you really geared it becomes very hard to heal through after a certain amount.
Way to make my statement seem cruel ;(
