The more I play this game, the more it feels like I've been there and done that already. I love it, don't get me wrong. It's all the good memories and deja vu I'm experiencing, like going to.a restaurant you haven't been to in years and it's still great, or watching an old movie you loved way back when and it still entertains you significantly. I'm mildly dissappointed by this realization, but not by the game itself. I guess it's safe to say I've played too many games and am not easily surprised.

Still, don't let it sway you, this game is great. Music is solid, story is cheesy and full of typical jrpg plot development that works well instead of stupidly, combat gets exceedingly more second nature as you mess around, and the fetch quests aren't so mind numbingly boring as to make you hate the game (xenoblade, fucking rage). Seriously, if you call yourself a long time rpg fan, you should play this game. There's enough in every other department that hating one aspect of it shouldn't stop you from enjoying it.

This feels so much like DQVIII it's not even funny. I swear if my character can go super high tension (*cough*supersaiyan), I'm calling shenanigans.

I preordered this with a Gamestop gift card I got for Christmas and got it on my birthday today. Hope it doesn't let me down.
When you first enter the actual town of Ding Dong Dell, make sure you speak to the little girl at the tree to your left when you enter.

It'd be nice if it were similar to white knight chronicles, where you create a character for use online and in the main story, but he/she doesn't impact the story directly. Granted WKC isn't the best example of a stellar single player experience, but it gets my point across.

I especially liked the mech use in the trailer. Reminded me of Xenosaga to a degree. It'd be awesome if this were in fact a xenogears sequel rather than a xenoblade sequel. Some 15 years later, pretty sure the uproar for it would be huge.

If it makes any of you feel better, I'm pretty sure I'm either catching the flu, or a virus of some sort, and am miserable now. I was feeling shitty tuesday and slightly less shitty yesterday, but today I feel like a train hit me. Say what you will, gaming while sick is never fun :(

I got annoyed at Xenoblade's shitty quests...seriously annoyed. I can't say I'm stoked for this new one, but it does look pretty.

I kind of like the constant reiteration of how things are done. It's nice to get that feeling of handholding right now, because fighting can be a kick in the groin. Also, as awesome as the wizard's compendium is, I think the writing may have been rushed somewhat. I found a typo in one of the stories (prince and the lion). Not huge, but it's a statement to the editor for not catching it.

I have renamed all of my familiars except Esther's and Swaine's initial familiar. My mighty mite is known as Dingus, and true to his name, he has accidentally attacked a number of catchable familiars on me....fucking Dingus.

Surpised no topic yet, and the original one is sort of outdated, so yeah.

Came out tuesday, and I've been playing it almost non stop. Game's amazing, though it's definitely a familiar feel. Reminds me of Dragon Quest VIII, minus the dragonball characters everywhere. It looks great, it handles well, and the music is pretty nice. I will admit, the voice acting is meh at times, you can tell everyone's English and doing american accents left and right. Drippy's comical in small doses, and thankfully he only talks in cutscenes and not much in battle. Speaking of battle, the battle system is pretty simple to work with, but the level of micromanagement will be astounding later on. The difficulty isn't out of this world, but you quickly start relying on mp and your AI party members eat it faster than you can gather it back. It sort of warrants power leveling early, though once you start getting more familiars, you'll want to try swapping out your current party with the new ones and find your preference, so exp accrual shouldn't be terribly boring. I can't really go much further into detail as I think I'm still not terribly far (15 hours?) and feel that I've barely tapped the surface of the game.

If you're looking for a solid rpg with a huge world and a cutesy overtone, this game is your answer. Also, talk to some of the NPCs, you may get as lucky as I did and come across the single funniest line in a video game...("Yay. Pee-pee time." spoken by a small girl near a tree...laighed for 20 minutes).

Dear Yoda,

WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT GARY BUSEY?

Love,
<- This guy.
Dolph Lundgren, he also played the first Punisher, the bad guy in Universal Soldier, and a few other roles that usually revolved around him being a muscle bound jock.

I think capcom has enough pull for that kind of thing. They may not be selling 6 million copies in one day HOOGE, but their franchises pull in fairly large numbers, definitely respectable to say the least.

Not to defend the theory, but it wouldn't be completely outlandish to assume that some of these reviews are a little bogus, but not based on insetnamehere's suggestion of capcom buying them out. I remember reading an article years ago about how reviewrs try very hard to give favorable reviews to games because of a simple reason...if they cause a game to sell poorly due to the negative reviews, why would the company send them more games to review? I can understand smaller companies like xseed and atlus, who release fairly niche titles, but capcom or bioware or EA? These companies are huge, and to not get hands on access to their titles would generally hurt their magazines or sites. I know if ign didn't get a review in for DmC for example, a large number of people would stop looking there for information. His logic is a little reversed in my opinion, but it's not outlandish to think that some of the reviews are a bit too favorable, given the shit story and horrible voice acting.

However, I don't give a god damn in those regards, the gameplay is solid. I played dogma for many days with nothing but a desire to beat shit up, and DmC does combat waaaaaayyyyyy better.

Edit: FUCK YOU ANUUBIS, YOU NINJA'D MY POST BEFORE I HIT ENTER!!!!!!

So I tried my circuit training workout today, Started at 3 exercises, brought it to 6. I did each exercise first 20, then 16, then 12, 10, and finally 8 reps. Exercises were...
Military press (machine)
Lat Pulldowns (machine)
Seated bench press (machine)
Bicep curls (machine, started on second circuit set)
Tricep extensions (machine, started on third set)
Seated rows (machine, also started third set)

I gotta say, I nearly puked after each set with all 6 exercises, but damn did my body feel tight...hell it still does a bit. Gonna probably do this same thing for 3 more weeks then change exercises. Also, as I was fairly exhausted after that, I adjusted my bike run to a lower level and a longer duration, 20 minutes which resulted in 5.2 miles.

Screw Bane, I'm gonna be Superman by the time I'm done!

I have an allergy to shellfish, so I sort of get how you feel. Clams, shrimp, lobster, (real) crab, and scallops all cause me to have breathing trouble when I eat them, and that's like one scallop or a single shrimp. I used to eat fresh crab like it was going out of business, stuff was amazing. Sad times now...

Dude, don't even get me started about the Ni No Kuni itch....I thought it came out last tuesday. I scheduled the entire week, work gym and free time, around this game. I gave items in FFXI away for the week, lend out gil, spent all my excess cash in game....I was prepped for this week. I get to lamestop to pick it up and receive the bad news.....I nearly flipped my shit. When I left, some beggar asked me for change, and I told him, and I quote "Fuck off, I don't have any fucking money for your broke drunk ass, go get a fucking job you bum!". I still don't feel bad about it, but damn if I think I was extreme about it.

This game...it has driven me mad.

Fuck you, ya skinny bastard.

I'm sorry, that was the ni no kuni itch talking.
