1741  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Re: Final Fantasy XIV: ARR, a Thread Reborn on: July 18, 2013, 04:23:17 PM
So I keep seeing articles about the whole Lightning in XIV thing, and it's driving me nuts. Everywhere I look, it's either bitching about how no one likes her (I hate her character but damn if she isn't pixel hawtness), or bitching about how no one cares she's in it. It's hilarious how no one actually states outright that they love the idea of her in the game, only they don't care she's gonna be in it and we all should just not care. I don't get that passive horseshit, if you don't care she's gonna be in it then OBVIOUSLY you're not pleased. Why the fuck do you (generalizing btw) simply accept things you don't care for? If it's not something you want, then stop taking it like a prison bitch and at least vocalize your opinion about what you would want. It doesn't always need to be an internet riot, but telling everyone else to take it like a bitch is just as, if not more irritating.

I am extremely excited for this game, Lightning be damned. I'd love to see more FFVI stuff over her ridiculous dull monotone attitude. Hell, the only reason she's getting the push is to help promote this sham of a fucking title FFXIII-3. Much rather have Tifa or even Rinoa....wait fuck that, Selphie or Quistis, or fuck even Dagger make an appearance. Lightning's hot, for sure...but in that rare instance where a man thinks with his head instead of his penis, it's a given that Lightning is a terrible character.

@Kevadu: We must be related on a genetic level, I have a baby tooth that had no adult replacement as well. Worst part is it's dead center on my bottom row of teeth. So I have a this little fucker sitting at the end of a row of teeth, then a gap before 2 more teeth which grew to the left due to the lovely unclaimed space, another smaller gap, and the rest of my teeth. The baby tooth is still there, lovely and chipped on top from getting punched in the face as a kid (which also broke one of my upper molars on the left side...a whole different horror story). Thanks for the heads up on the cost, as I wasn't sure if I'd ever deal with it. Now I know I can safely say FUCK DAT NOISE.

Semi regular gym visits still, generally 3-4 days a week. Due to horrible heat wave #4 this summer season my desire to walk 1/2  a mile each way to the gym has dwindled so I have been skimping on visits or taking a bus. Sad times :(

Honestly if the rabbit had jumped like a half second later, it probably would have cleared the windshield. That little SOB was jumping like its life depended on it...which it did.

When out driving, beware of kamikaze rabbits... (actual video starts at 00:40)

I know that rabbit didn't survive, but goddamn....the hops...that was a solid 4 feet it jumped in the air.

I'm not a fan of hers, and this guy basically summed up the reasons why I think she's full of shit. He, however, is as full of himself as she is full of herself. Still, between the 2 assholes, he's slightly less offensive to an overall audience.
1747  The Rest / The Helper Monkey / Re: Top Loader NES on: July 16, 2013, 05:26:30 PM
When I was a kid and that happened, I used go bounce the game up and down with the NES off for a couple seconds, but that's in line with the old "blow (spit) on the contacts" theory of NES quickfixes. To be honest, the NES was around when I was 4, so the only tech stuff I know regarding it was that the contacts on the games were easily interfered with from dirt and such, so contact cleaner (or rubbing alcohol and qtips) worked wonders to get games working again. Doubt it's something you haven't tried yet yodes, but if this is news to you, hope it helps.

I have the original USA NES and I've done everything I can to get that thing working. I changed the connectors, cleaned it, prayed to Romulus and Remus, and sacrificed 200 moon-faced virgins to the Sun but the fucking thing won't work.

So does anyone have the 2nd model? The one that loads like a toaster? I see it only has an RF out. How shitty is that going to look?
As good as composite a/v would look, it's not like Nintendo games were pushing graphical boundaries. The NES you have, does it still turn on, or not even that far?

I was on a moderately-sized server.  It didn't merge into the other servers when they merged them, so it was sufficiently sized.

I remember there being one major character wipe in XI in about 2005 of inactive characters, but after that they started the Adventurer Appreciation program where they were basically rewarding you for coming back after a break.
The Adventurer appreciation program was for everyone who was playing though, not just returning players.

If it's anything like XI, you should still have access to it.  I didn't log onto my character for 4 years and it was there when I came back.
According to XI ToS they can terminate your character after I believe three months of inactivity. If you're on a low traffic server, it's unlikely they'll bother. But if you're on a big server like hyperion, I wouldn't throw that likelyhood out of the equation.

13 bucks a month is pretty much what I would spend to go buy 2 games in a month at separate points in the month. Being that this will probably consume a larger amount of time than an average game, buying a new game won't be as high a priority for a while. Besides, the only 2 games I am really watching right now are both released next month.

Wow, 2 heart attacks? Fuck Dice, that sucks. Hope you get on his ass about dietary changes. As for your other issues...at least you get to wear something YOU choose for the wedding instead of a generally tacky bridesmaid dress that 2-3 other girls will be wearing too. And being a pretty lady working in a video game store, I assume every nerd in there is trying to be your best friend. And school...well...idk lady, school sucks no matter how old you get.

Don't let it get you down, depression makes you old and fat.

Agent Dee will be asleep in the limsa lominsa inn when the deletion happens. I will be back as Agent "D" in retail.
1754  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: What do you want out of PS4/XBone RPGs? on: July 14, 2013, 04:36:04 PM
Oh, I remembered something else I'd like.

More dynamic battle themes, ala Skies of Arcadia.  GUST tried to do them recently in Ayesha, but their presence is not nearly as common in RPGs as I wish they would be.  We definitely need more themes that change depending on current circumstances in the battle.

Dragon's Dogma did it really recently as well, especially with the Dark Arisen expansion.
I did enjoy that little pop in music when you nailed a good weakpoint on an enemy and (generally) whipped the ass of said mob.

I really have to wonder...

Is anyone on this board actually entertaining the idea of getting this?
Only if I can sell it to someone for double the cost.
