1756  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: What game related stuff do you collect? on: July 19, 2012, 04:13:06 PM
I bought a few figures for my ultra super special favorite games (at the time, Metal Gear and Halo) but sadly, my asshole sisters decided to throw em out on me. Pissed me off real good, and helped establish my lack of desire to collect.

I tell you what though, if I ever find a Metal Gear Solid 1 Solid Snake figure with a Socom pistol and a cigarette in mouth, I'd probably buy it on the spot. Not some online shit though, like in a mall or a store or something. Has to be spontaneous, out of the blue.

Oh, I'd also probably do the same for a proper Mega Man X or Legends figure. Oohhhh, if I found a Megaman Volnutt with swappable arm cannons....I may squeal like a piglet.

Easy there prime, abyss doesn't look that terrible. It's competent PS2 level graphics for a mid life PS2 rpg. Having played it only a couple months ago, it was no eyesore or anything, just looks like an older game. Doesn't detract from the game's feel.

So, my friend just game me a bunch of mangas, just like that. So now I have  21 Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, 11 Death Note, 6 Brave Story, 3 NORA and the first Tales of Symphonia. So, since I don't know anything about those, I really don't know where to start! If anyone has suggestions, please let me know!
Call me a chick but Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicles was kinda cool. Kurogane is a badass. I'd start there.

Hilarious....but why is this in the MMOs category?
1760  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: So, Job-wise... on: July 17, 2012, 01:43:29 PM
It depends, does my dream job allow me to play and enjoy video games? Does the safe job involve me clubbing baby seals? Can I survive on dream job income with an allowance of luxury purchases tgrough adequate saving (can I save up for 3 months or for 2 years for that new 42 inch plasma screen)? Is safe job giving me more money than dream job by double or triple?

Honestly, there is only 1 thing that has to be established before I take a job I wouldn't like. Let's put it into american terminology....

How much would someone have to pay a man to shovel shit? You find that number, you bought that man's soul.

...my number is definitely in the 100 dollars an hour area to consider doing it.

Also, Bubonic Plague can be found as near to South Korea as Mongolia. Not sure about North, but I'm fairly certain there are at least SOME rats there that are possible carriers. In fact, Bubonic Plague outbreaks were more recent in Asia than in Europe.
I only believe you because you're a doctor...

Everything's settled. Leave Monday.
Had my last beer in Toronto today.
Enjoy your dial-up porn....hope you actually do something good though, and don't catch bubonic plague or something equally third world-y.
You're confusing the two Koreas again.
Oh cmon, Yoda just did that, I don't have enough energy for a witty comeback at the same comment twice in a 12 hour period.
1763  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: What's the haps? on: July 15, 2012, 05:25:37 AM
Yoda, you are a short green man who speaks backwards, talks in riddles, and died of old age...at 800+ years old. Let me insult non-american societies how I like damnit. If they don't like it, they can use their peak speed of 47.9 mbps to track my ip and come complain about it.

The whole fucking post wasa sarcastic nudge at Lard anyway. And where's the fomment about Bubonic Plague being half a world southwest of where he is, huh? Went right for the porn jab, you perverted freak!

If it isn't quite obvious yet, well played Yoda.

Pfft, site's called rpgfan, but no one tried out this game. What kind of fans are you! Fine, I'll give a few words about it.

I caved and bought this last night. It's a tactical rpg....sort of. It's grid based, and you have your units and your enemy units and you fight on maps with somewhat randomized layouts. Sometimes there are obstacles, sometimes no, haven't seen a pattern yet. As I have just started I only have the main character and a new archer chick, so battles are pretty tame at the moment. The ratio is a bit staggering at times though, my latest being about 15 vs 2, and 8 of the enemies were higher level than I was (slaughtered me btw). If I had to give a good comparison, it's easy at times like Disgaea, and then slams on you like Hoshigami. Not much in terms of special abilities and such yet, couple of skills for each character that do better damage or have better range, but nothing impressive. I don't like the lack of confirmation when moving, since if your character has 1 action left (sub turns in game) if you accidentally move the wrong way, lol oh well. It's not too horrible though, dying in battle leaves you outside your last fight with one hp and a sense of failure, no need to reload last save. It's not horrible, but I'm not feeling it as well as something like FFTactics or even Disgaea.

Story is pretty minimalist. You got transported to some other world while meeting your rival for a duel. Bastard snuck up on you and hit you with some magic that sent you through a portal, nice guy for sure. New world people see you as the reason for monsters everywhere, everyone is scared. Proceed to fetch quests and monster killing to clear your name and find a way home. It's cute, but far from award winning.

Music is pretty tolerable, some of it's crap, sone of it's pretty addicitive. I like the fight musics I've heard so far, picks up as you go. The title screen has a pretty mellow theme too, I write this while preparing to start playing again, lol.

The art design.....yeah I don't like it. The characters all look strange, like a 15 year old was drawing in a doodle book. The areas so far are bright and all, but npcs all blend in to the background, I mean I ran past one guy for a quest 20 times cuz he looked like a signpost at first. Enemies look cool though, especially skeletons so far. I could hate the style easily, but I don't, so whatever, this isn't gonna be the de facto defision behind a purchase for anyone.

Speaking of purchasing, for 15 bucks, I can say I dislike it. It's addicitive enough, though the extra teammate has slowed my progression of power leveling due to split status enhancing "Rainbow Pearls" ( currency used to increase stat points). Other than a sudden MOON JUMP in difficulty, which could be because I went somewhere I'm not supposed to be at yet..., it's mind numbingly hard. Hopefully when I get a healer or a new party member I can control battles better, but til then, as the game suggests, back to the grind.

If you asked me if ut's worth buying, I'd say sure  if you have psn+, 12 bucks is pretty cheap for it.

I still confirm with my dad when I use my credit card for any purchases. He eyeballs the bills, so I stay safe and keep tabs on what I do. Old habits die hard.

Aren't you like 20-something?

Actually I haven't checked my bank account in awhile I wonder how much money I have.
27 actually. Helps (maybe hurts?) that I still live with him and all the bills and such are done via my name and debit card, etc. Still, it was always a good practice of mine to confirm whenever I was about to make a purchase of any sort, just in case. Never wanted to be the one who came home without toilet paper because I spent my last 20 bucks on a mexican dinner, you know?

As always, I have to laugh at this. Not because it's funny, byt because the parent is stupid enough to think the kid didn't realize what he was doing. 12 years old, I'm absolutely certain he can read at least at a 5th grade level, and when you go to add xbl points, you have to accept these transactions, seeing as it takes you to the xbox live window to do so, as well as confirm certain information like how you would like to purchase these points. Once again, a case of stupid uninformed parent and a child who does what he wants without care.

I still confirm with my dad when I use my credit card for any purchases. He eyeballs the bills, so I stay safe and keep tabs on what I do. Old habits die hard.

1768  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / Re: Mass Effect: Paragon Lost -- November 13th, 2012 on: July 13, 2012, 01:19:10 PM
As a flick, it looks cool.

As a continuation of Mass Effect, I don't like how it looks. It's too anime-y. What I saw there was an action anime, extremely exaggerated and unrealistic. One of my big loves of Mass Effect is the lack of the one man vs one army concept. Shepard always made it a point to say he couldn't win by himself, and that he was a driving force for sure, but not the only force to speak of. Several of the scenes showed one guy pulling off the one vs one thousand stand off maneuver. I'll watch it, but I doubt this will do the series any justice whatsoever.
1769  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Random and Amazing Pictures, Please! on: July 13, 2012, 08:55:02 AM

So where does his role as Shark Bait from Deep Blue Sea land?

He didn't even get off even one speech before 'suddenly gibed by scientifically modified shark'.
Wrong black guy sir, that was Samuel L. Jackson. Though in keeping with the questioning, where in the hierarchy is his wanted role? The man played god...unlike in Bruce and Evan Almighty where he actually played God.

Isn't it a bit out of order? I mean, a freed slave should be above an inmate, even if the slave was free during the early 1840s.
