Dude, I freaking love Persona and P4 Arena - Agent D will attest to that, I would not shut the fuck up about it when we met up. There is no need for that, especially after Agent D has said he'll stop. Let's drop it and go back to talking about how awesome it is already, Jesus Christ.
I deserved a retort from akanbe, dude.  Not going to reply to it, either, as I want to not instigate anything, as I said, I will not play in this topic anymore.

And yes, you like P4 and P4A.

I tried the demo earlier this week, being a metroidvania lover. It's pretty for an indie title, and the gameplay is definitely solid. Wasn't picking up on parrying to well due to mistiming and the defense of a paper napkin. Also, xbox has a terrible controller for platforming, as their dpad is clunky and unresponsive, so playing this forces me on an analog stick, which drives me nuts for platforming. Taking that away from it, the game is still pretty awesome, look and feel wise. Soundtracks pretty cool too, definitely a worthy entry in the metroidvania line of games.

I'm over it, I'll stay out of the topic after this. Anything else we need to say will be PMs. Sorry for derailing the thread a bit.

Christ I wanna smack you for that. Not once did I insult anyone directly, outside of the damned franchise. If you like persona, which shitloads of people do, good enjoy. I hate it, it's a terrible franchise with a horrible concept for a plot device and characters that aren't old enough to cross the fucking street by themself. Did I quote anyone here and dissect their post, pointing out errors or disagreeable comments? No, I generalized what I said so that I didn't say akanbe is a terrible person for thinking varying health bars for characters is a good thing tbough I did defend my point. I didn't say you all suck for liking it, though I said the game sucks and you shouldn't like it, which I stand by. The only person who has made any insult besides starmongoose (but he's funny so I let it slide) is you.

Edit: I didn't care for what I said in the end after I said it. I'm changing it to something less extreme.

So Kevadue, if you don't like my opinion, then buzz off.

I should mention I'm pretty tired and doing this off my smartphone.

Re: Persona 4 G: Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena (PS3/360/Arc) Announced (2012,ASW/Aty convey my thoughts about it. I'll use the cliffnotes version.

Blazblue=Guilty Gear with a fresh coat of paint and a few new functions. P4A is Blazblue with a bunch of highschool kids and figments of their imagination.

Sakura and chun li are 1/4 the size of zangief, and have half his range and no grab priority. Good zangief players can decimate chun li, and sakura is trash with or without bad health. It's been a pretty common thing in most fighting games for years, they call it balancing. The health shit is just stupid, and ever since akuma and his shit health back Capcom vs Snk, it's been bullshit. I'll cave on the damage resistance, because it's really just a different way of saying the same thing on paper. Chun li takes more or damage or has leath health, she takes a bigger loss in her health bar per hit.

Just because the big names at Evo and the sort aren't fans of anime fighting games (seriously arguing this?) doesn't mean that the majority of fighting game fans, both serious and casual, are not anime fans. This especially is true because most of the current fighting games are of an anime style, aside from maybe wrestling games, which generally cater to wrestling fans. I really can't believe you'd think otherwise.

If I offended any fighting game fans here, I'm sorry. Obviously persona has an audience, and as much as I would beg and plead with all of you to stop playing it as it's FUCKING TERRIBLE, people will, and they'll probably like this piece of shit. Go play it if you like, you'll enjoy it if you like blazblue or persona. I don't like either.

I'd like to be the first person to simply punch him in the face. Civil war because Obama is re-elected? What, are you a fucking lunatic or something, or do you just want all that unused militia budget to go in your pocket? I hope someone kicks him square in the balls.
1793  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: Persona 4 G: Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena (PS3/360/Arc) Announced (2012,ASW/Atlus) on: August 23, 2012, 09:26:44 AM
Guilty Gear with persona themes.

Don't like guilty gear.
FUCKING HATE Persona 3, and probably wouldn't enjoy 4 all that much.

Knowing this, still played it this past weekend. Haven't spoken about it because I couldn't process how to say what I disliked exactly. I had fun playing it because I sat there and made fun of it, but I can do that with any game really. I don't like the fighting system, especially that auto combo shit, it's lame. I hate when fighting games give characters varying levels of health and damage resistance, it's so fucking stupid. As I didn't like persona's music in general (haet j-pop), don't like most of the music. The only thing I did like were the character portraits, because Mitsuru, Yukiko, and Rise are just anime gorgeous, and Teddy is hillarious looking. If I walked into this game never having touched persona or guilty gear, I still would have greatly disliked it on its fighting system alone. This game was seriously made for persona fans only, and I cannot see serious fighting game players jumping on board, however most serious fighting gamers are anime fans, so they'll probably flock to it.
1794  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: What's the haps? on: August 22, 2012, 01:33:50 PM
It wasn't for those reasons I mentioned the camera. It's for other reasons. Basically, it's just about peace of mind. Check in, see how he's doing, make sure he got home from school okay. I thought your son was younger originally, too, so that may have attributed to my recommendation. Personally, I'd recommen an item like this to everyone who's out of their house for long periods of time everyday, and moreso when someone else is there like a housekeeper. It's not a friendly world we live in, people get robbed and fucked with all the time. I just tossed it out there for your own peace of mind grim, not to make you one of "those" parents.

Elsewhere in the world, I'm discovering how a lack of sleep can physically sicken you. 3 days without adequate or comfortable sleep due to some extreme back pain has begun to take its toll on me. I spent most of today wanting to throw up, or asleep in an office chair. Walked to the train station to get a metrocard for my busride home and between my nausea and my back screaming, I nearly walked into a speeding cab. I'm generally pretty good about dealing with pain, but this was intense. No pain medication to take either, besides a bunch ibuprofin which I'm beginning to worry I've developed a resistance to due to overuse when I broke my ankle.

Oh yeah, I'm at work doing all this too.

Grim, I was going to write a long winded post about how what you're doing is mildly insane, but I wrote something that somehow switched me a bit. So I'll ask this instead.

Have you thought about putting a webcam up at home to keep an eye on your son when you're working? You obviously have time to check up on rpgfan when you're at work, so you have some access to pc fun. If you're interested, check out archerfish. They make ip cameras and have a website that lets you check up on said camera through smartphones, pcs, and most other internet capable devices. I've installed a couple and can tell you they work decently, though you should have at least a broadband connection, and preferably not dsl. At least this way you can check up on him while he's home without annoying him or needing an elaborate setup and camera system. Look into it if you want some reassurance, since the few hours he's home alone are probably your most apprehensive. If you want to be cheaper and have a ps3 and psp, you could leave your ps3 idle for remote play and use the ps3 camera as a semi security camera. Granted, this means bringing your psp to work with you, and only your or your wife can view him at any one time, and it relies on the ps3 being on and connected to the web at all times, as well as having a wifi connection at work you can use. The archerfish camera only requires installation hardware and access to your router, though they make an expensive wifi version too (stay wired).

I hope you can use my suggestion, and that if you had any nervous ticks about your plan still that this may put you at ease.

The one he said at the beginning about the little guy running alongside him, I used to do that all the time while thinking of the mute city theme, only my buddy was megaman or zero, depending on how I felt.

Does it sort of count that after not playing it for a year and change, I went back to ffxi and remember most of the areas and locations.
1798  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Re: Final Fantasy XI - Journal! on: August 20, 2012, 10:07:21 PM
Why are the ffxi players so fucking stupid? Daggerstrike's been playing for what, 2 months? He's fucking smarter than most of the relic toting morons playing this game. I'm dumbfounded.
