2416  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Confess your deepest and darkest secrets on: July 01, 2012, 02:36:19 AM
I secretly think I have the power to influence future events. I spent the last few days brooding about a job I would have to do tomorrow and monday, wishing deep down that I wouldn't have to. Today, I called one of the guys I was working for to get my call time, and he told me that the guy who actually gave me the 2 days overbooked and I was pulled from the call, instead now I would possibly be on the 4th and 5th. I just didn't want to work tonight and tomorrow, this new outcome is almost exactly what I had hoped for.

This isn't the first occurence either. When I was younger, I had lent my copy of earthbound to a good friend, who had been holding onto it for a real long while. One day, I was sort of down and really upset and almost started to cry about not having the game out of nowhere (I was 7). Literally, I was lying in my bed wishing I had it back. Not 10 minutes later, my buddy's older brother comes over with the game, just like that. And another time, I was sitting at a little deli by my house and was really tossing around the idea of buying a game, Breath of Fire III. I didn't have enough money, and I really didn't want to beg my parents at the time for it, so I bought a lottery ticket (illegally, I was a minor). Sure enough, I sat there and hoped to win a couple bucks, and I won 50 dollars. Walked down the block, bought the game, and even had some cash left over for a slurppy at 7-11.

I have other circumstances where it's conceivable that this "power" is more than a freak coincidence, like travelling to a destination in midtown manhattan at 9am on a monday morning and hoping there is no traffic, which almost never happens except for when I hoped for it. It's weird, I don't believe in supernatural crap and such, but this happens alot. When my mom was diagnosed with stage iv lung cancer, doctors said a couple months maybe. I didn't hope she would get magically better, but I did hope.that she would firat, make it past xmas (she did) and later on, when it got really bad, I silenty hoped that of all things, please don't let her die on my hirthday. She was close to, but thankfully, missed it by a few days after. I even got a happy birthday from her, which was one of the last coherent things she said to me (heavily drugged). Again, I don't believe in supernatural heebie jeebies, but this is definitely not random occurence at work here.

Of course, still haven't won that million dollar jackpot yet either.

There was a time when I played tekken 5 and then 6 non stop for like 2-3 months. Got to the point where I had a ridiculously offensive and speedy Kuma, not because I was that good with him, but because I started learning other characters to know what I could prevent using the bear. It was at the point where I would challenge people blindfolded just based on who they picked, especially Eddy and Christie, but I had to leave it on 2 rounds, cuz people would pick up on my patterns. I miss those days, but I EVENTUALLY got sort of bored playing it.

My birthday is in 2 days, and the anniversary of my mother's death is in 6...

July is a fun month for me :)

My deepest...darkest secret is the happy little bush that I drew down in that corner. If you tell anyone about it I will fucking kill you...
His secret is he plays ffxi. He's ashamed of it and he knows it. Shun him like the filth ridden leper he is.

Idk if it's been posted before, but I saw this a while ago and figured it was time to share again. Bear with the first minute, it gets AWESOME after.

Hey man, it's no secret that any good game is at least 4 parts great music. Let Dincrest rock man, he may be the man behind the next great video game soundtrack.

Age, smage.  I'm 34 but people think I'm 24-26 because, thanks to healthy living, I look pretty young.  As for Carly Rae Jepsen, she's pretty cute.  Then again, most female pop singers are.  Not gonna lie, I wonder if she goes for aggressive punk/metal bass players:P  Hey, if Nergal from the black/death metal band Behemoth could hook up with a Polish pop star...

On another note, a punked out version of "It's Raining Men" would be a hilariously awesome moshpit anthem, especially during summertime in a hot and sweaty basement show.
I can almost see starmongoose daydreaming this exact idea and scene in his mind.

Yeah, in Yoda terms, you can also say fuck you to the thing.

Carly Ray Jepsen or something like that. She's born in 85 iirc. I had to look it up a few weeks ago myself. She definitely doesn't look mid twenties, but hey, I don't look 27 after I shave...

But yes, that's definitely a kidz bop single for sure.

Oh and something new I feel like adding to the deepest of darkest secrets club. I once lied to a blockbuster video store about 4 games I had rented out. See, my friends house caught on fire, pretty badly actually, most of the front was destroyed, including where he left his ps2 and the games we all took out. Seeing as I wasn't about to go buy 4 games from them, I told em the truth. The manager came out and said don't worry about it at all, saying she was glad to see none of us hurt. 2 days later, me and said buddy snuck into the wreck and found the ps2, along with one game inside, and after some careful detective work, found the other 3 games as well, all in working condition though the cases were fucked up. Hell, after a couple days of letting the ps2 dry out, I cleaned and re-assembled that and it worked fine too, though he claimed it was destroyed in the fire. Sold it to another buddy for 50 bucks which I split with the first pal. I look back on it and feel sort of bad. I'm not a liar by any means, and I wouldn't go out of my way to steal, but it just seemed so...idk excessive to go back and say we found the games, then pay the late fees and such.

Sucky games too, the two movie based lord of the rings games, tony hawk pro skater 3 or 4, and  I don't even recall the last one.

I'm about 30% convinced to re-sub. If I can get a couple buddies back, I may rejoin next month.

That guy in your last link looks like Dr. Robotnik with hair. Obviously that job is what made him go nuts and start becoming a mad scientist.

Well, that's one more possible reason to start playing again...

The books are trials you can do in an area. Kill a set amount of monsters, earn experience points, gil, and points to be used at the book for buffs, temp items, etc. It used to be an hour cooldown, but I assume they changed it if it's a burn party option now.
