Been playing terraria on my vita (free for psn+) recently. I just dropped skeletron last night, that was a pain in the balls. This game definitely was made for pc, it's much more difficult to play on the vita I would say (fucking rear touch pad keeps throwing off my targetting). But yeah, this shit is addictive. I drained both oceans straight to the underworld, which was funny. Also, I keep getting my "town" destroyed by goblin armies. I think I need to move it away from the origin point of the world already.

@Tomara

I hate fiats. It's one of my goals as a weight lifter now to push one over.

Clueless, I hope everything works out well for your mom and your poochie, and I'm glad to see your own personal health is at a high point right now. Here's to a long life of miserable work, bitchy children, a moaning husband, and good fortune to live long enough to become a cranky old woman and piss your kids off so good.

Sometimes, that one possibility is all that drives me to even want a family. I eagerly look forward to being as much of a douche to my kids as my dad has become in his old age to me.

Used stuff is 7 days for full refund. New stuff minus accessories is unopened 30 day full refund, opened 30 day exchange.

Well fuck.

I don't think Gamestop was running this deal a week ago, but I go into one of the stores today (because I was wondering around the mall in a daze while waiting for the build to deploy at work) and they had this thing that was like, 250Gig Xbox + 2 controls + 2 used games valued under 20 dollars*, for the same price as the thing I bought online.

Which was invariably a better deal than what I got.

I have no idea if I can return the thing I bought and say "Whoops ordered the wrong bundle" and get the in-store deal instead.

* Assuming this is two games valued under 20 dollars a piece. If it's twenty total, that's not a great deal.
Yes you can return it, no questions asked. Yes, said games are to be valued at 20 bucks a piece. Only issue you may have is returning the delivered system to a store instead of back through shipping. Either way, not a big deal.

I have absolutely nothing impressive to share here lately. I work, I play some video games, and sometimes I weight lift.
53  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Harvest Drama: Story of Trademarks on: June 19, 2014, 07:15:34 AM
Let me tell you a story.

So back in 1996, Victor Interactive Software made a game called Bokujou Monogatari, which literally translates as "Farm Story".  They then contracted Natsume to localize and publish it in the west.  Natsume thought the name "Farm Story" sounded kind of dull so they renamed it to Harvest Moon (though obviously what it was really missing was -ville) .

Victor Interactive was acquired by Marvelous Entertainment in 2003.  They continued to make the games and Natsume continued to localize them.  But Marvelous has their own localization studio now: Xseed.  Why hasn't Xseed been localizing these games, especially since Natsume hasn't exactly been doing the greatest job?  Turns out that the name "Harvest Moon" belongs to Natsume, not Victor/Marvelous.  And the Harvest Moon games have been their cash cow for a while now so they don't want to give that up.

This situation continued for a while but finally with their latest release Marvelous decided they had enough.  They're using Xseed, not Natsume, for the localization.  Which means they can't call it "Harvest Moon" in the US so instead it's being released later this year as "Story of Seasons".

But the story doesn't end there.

Natsume still owns the name "Harvest Moon" and they're free to do what they want with it.  And they've apparently decided to go for maximum dickitude because they're releasing "Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley" head-to-head with Story of Seasons.  That's right, they're making a "Harvest Moon" game by a completely different team that's going to be directly competing with an actual Harvest Moon game that can't actually be called Harvest Moon.

So anyway, a trailer for Natsume's Harvest Moon game was just released.  And I have never seen a trailer that specifically references the "series" the game is part of so many times.  It's kind of ridiculous when you realize that this game is really the clone.  (Well, they seem to have added in some Minecraft elements too, which is actually kind of neat, but we'll have to see how well it really works...)

Marvelous/Xseed really have an uphill battle to convince folks to give their game a shot here.  If the casual consumer (and I hate to use that term, but Harvest Moon really does appeal to a casual audience) walks into a game story and sees both "Story of Seasons" and "Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley" on the shelves which one do you think they're going to go for?
This story has the makings of a great rpg...

Mesh. Why buy everything. Problem solved.
I think this is the problem he's trying to avoid...

I think it's pretty safe to say that putting it on the vita or even psp for a western release would have cost it a huge number of possible sales. This isn't a system seller, and I'm fairly sure the ps4 already has a greater install base than the vita at this point (some 8 million units worldwide almost for the ps4 in half a year). SE's choice of putting this on a console is definitely a good idea, especially given how dominant said system has become.

So I got alpha access...

HOLY SHIT THIS GAME IS AWESOME.

Seriously, borderlands meets mass effect plus halo. I love it so far, and I gotta say the release can not get here faster. I can't wait to rock this game for real.
57  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: "X" by Monolith (now named Xenoblade Chronicles X) on: June 13, 2014, 09:50:22 AM
I will say one thing, for all the xeno talk, this game bears no resemblance to xenosaga for me. I mean, I played xenogears and all 3 xenosagas, and this has a very different feel compared to them. I think that's a benefit though, given the bad rep xenosaga tends to get.
58  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: "X" by Monolith (now named Xenoblade Chronicles X) on: June 13, 2014, 09:26:40 AM
Every time I see a little more of this game, I see a bit more xenoblade...and granted it was a fun romp for a while...too much fetch quest shit. The entire game was a goddamn fetch quest. I WILL NOT BE SWAYED SO EASILY THIS TIME DAMNIT!
59  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Final Fantasy Type-0 HD on: June 10, 2014, 03:54:22 PM
I'm betting it's gonna be cross buy or cross play, and it just got lost in translation.

No serious exclusives aside from the suda 51 game, the order, and that blood thing....oh and uncharted obviously. Yeah, Sony didn't really impress this year. Still, Ratchet and Clank movie is awesome,  Destiny looks amazing, playstation now open beta next month YAY, and a remastering of the first Ratchet and Clank is pretty cool. I'm pretty mad they went on a tangent about sony media shit, they knew firsthand how it looked when ms did it last year, it's obvious that it needs to be left away from the gaming aspects. Also, pretty depressed that the only rpg mentioned was Tales of Hearts R....that was a kick in the balls.
