61  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: PS4 or Vita? on: April 11, 2016, 12:50:34 PM
A smart phone or other mobile capable device.
Why in god's name would you desire to play a full length rpg on your phone? For every cool thing a phone can do, trying to play a video game that requires more than a yes or no input from the user is murder on touch devices. I play like 3 games on my phone right now, and the only reason I do those is because they require little more than confirmation of what I'm about to do. Hell even playing a 3ds or vita is murder on hands after a while because of the lack of ergonomic function.

I'd tell you the ps4 since the support for the vita is diminishing rapidly. Plus, it's only a matter of time before Sony implements vita and psp titles for play on the ps4 using psnow, their streaming service. Granted, the amount of rpgs available on vita are quite larger in number, the system is all but dead, and I don't think spending money on it this late in the game would benefit you. I mean hell, most of the vita rpgs are available on the ps3 already, along with all the other ps3 rpgs and ps1 rpgs you may or may not have, so I'd say the vita is just a purchase for someone with disposable income...

Granted, that's just my opinion, and I say it while having my own vita and ps4, as well as a 1st gen ps3, so I have access to anything on a sony platform.

It's quite lovely.

It's a free game, and he does have history here (though it's before my time).

Has it been considered by the higher ups maybe to make an actual board for advertising personal creations? I mean it's not terrible common, but there are people who plaster game ads up with NO desire to become a part of the community, so at least it would give them a place to advertise and not annoy the general public with things we aren't interested in.

Also, I downloaded it, and I'm not terribly fond of the random leveling aspect, but it's not bad for free.

35 hours of content including sidequests in an rpg is pretty abyssmal...Does that mean there's no super dungeon in this game? I mean, going back to SO2, the cave of trials would take a long time to clear on your first attempt. I never messed with 3 and 4's optional super dungeons, but I remember 3 having like 3 different dungeons to go through for the final dungeon...

Sphere 211 has to be the longest extra dungeon ever.
Not that it was fun in the least other than the boss fights.
At least SO3 had a decently fun battle system. I probably wouldn't have minded all the monotony of long dungeons if it meant beating ass with fayt, mirage, and maria.

I have faith now in this game because it comes out the same week as my birthday. No game released the week of my birthday has ever failed me.

Now I want to know what games were released around my birthday. Let's see...

Dark Cloud - Could be worse.
Fantasy Life - That one was okay.
Ayelier Totori - Perfect!
Fairy Fencer F - Meh.
Mugen Souls - Eh...
Disgaea D2 - Not bad.
Ar Nosurge - Another Gust game? Sure, why not.
Star Ocean 3 - Wait, really? I never knew. Probably because I already owned the American edition by then.
Golden Sun: The Lost Age - I wasn't that impressed, but many people thought it was the best thing ever.
Okage: Shadow King - Nice.
Grandia Xtreme - Well, it has a nice battle system, I guess.
Dual Hearts - I barely remember this one...
Tales of Destiny - Woohoo, a Tales game!
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - Fuck yes.

And this year I'll be getting... Final Fantasy 15? Yeah, I have about zero fucks to give.

(If European releases hadn't been available, games like Grandia, Suikoden II, Secret of Evermore and Symphony of the Night would have been on the list as well. Apparently late September/early October is a pretty classy time for niche game releases.)

I wish there were a site that lets you sort games by releasedate. I'd be fun to be able to check what games share your birthdate...

Where did you go to find this info? I would love to see what games came out on or around my birthday that I was interested in. Not a lot of stuff is generally released during the summer so I remember the good ones.

Dude, it's snowing here in southern New Jersey too.  What is up with this weather?
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU GET 70 DEGREES FOR CHRISTMAS! CHAOS!!!!

I've been meaning to whine here for a few days about recent developments at the gym, but I've held off til now. I've been trying to build up my ORM (one rep maxs) for a while now, but at the end of last year I had injured my tricep which held everything back a lot. It was about 4 weeks ago thag it was finally in good working order again, but now I'm almost scared about hurting it again. Everything I do seems to be throttled back in case of that "what if?" scenario. It finally hit me hardest this last week when I tried breaking my bench press record with a 415lb attempt. I can unrack it fine, and bringing it down isn't a problem, but as soon as I need to push it up, my body just locks up, I can hover it over my chest for a few seconds but my arms refuse to exert themselves into a full extension, so I can lift it. I know most of you probably think I'm dumb for even playing with weight that heavy, but it's the one thing I enjoy more than video games now. Something about having the power to move things like that is just intoxicating, like a drug...but those 3 months I was hurt from the tricep issue were terrible. I've considered using steroids to help improve, but I talk myself out of it fast enough. I just want to get stronger, but it's getting almost dangerous to try and improve further...I really don't want to resort to lifting for physical fitness yet, and I know I can get better, but the brains in me keep warning me about injury and damage and downtime...god I hate the fact that I'm smart. I know better, but I want to ignore it so bad...

First world problems, amirite?

So... I actually kind of have to agree with Alisha. The Platinum Demo was INCREDIBLY underwhelming. Can't believe Square even bothered with it.

Brotherhood, on the other hand, already has me way more excited about the game than the demo did.
To be fair, the demo shouldn't even be called a demo. It won't be in the game (supposedly) and it was just to introduce you to gameplay mechanics and some of the designs. It was definitely an interesting experience, albeit very short.

I don't want to rustle any jimmies here, but isn't this the lady who was outspokenly in favor of child pornography?

I don't know if she is actually in favor of it, but she certainly doesn't seem to be against it: Apparently, actively trying to combat it distracts people from more important issues.

Being a father, I'd like to slap her in her smug trying-too-hard-to-look-cuter-than-she-actually-is face, but I acknowledge that as being an obviously biased view on my part... Still, doing so would make me feel pretty good as a human being.

why does it matter to you even a little how this woman you've never met dresses??  I also question the idea of how slapping ANYONE would make anyone feel good...  The kind of mind that can think: "I disagree with this insignificant part of another person's life... better threaten them with physical violence!!" is exactly the kind of person that got this poor woman fired/harassed/worried for her family's safety in the first place.

CHILL
He's entitled to have and share his opinion with others, but I believe his ability to control his actions are what sets him apart from the typical "soccor-mom morality warrior" that actually did result in this whole case of nonsense.

That being said, last I checked, she was hired for her work in the translation field (or the economic side of it anyway), not her opinion about an old man and a 16 year old girl (or boy). I feel very strongly that every douchebag who double parks their car should have their license revoked and car impounded, but I don't act on it. I feel that any persom who EVER belittles someone for being heavy in a hurtful manner should have the shit kicked out of them, but I don't act on it. Having an opinion and performing an act based on said opinion are different...something the rest of the U.S. should maybe take a moment and realize more.

At last! The breaker of walls has come to town Gilligan's Island. Also the Captain from (one of the) Ys V.
Ahh, japan logic. 26 years old, body of a god, old man hair...

Please nobody else post in this thread until Tooker creates a new one so the last thing we talk about in the old Haps thread is losing circulation on the toilet.
Better yet...

I can confirm that the height thing is definitely an issue, as I post this from my toilet with a right leg that's nearly completely numb...

Supergirl x Flash crossover was pretty awesome. In fact, the only problem I had with it was when

Code:
Silver Banshee somehow sucker punches Supergirl

But yeah, otherwise it was a really cute episode and a great shoutout to fans of both (The potshot at the standard CW cast was fucking brilliant!)
Grr, accidental posting was accidental.

Screw it, my 2 bits here. I liked most of the episode, but I wasn't really enthralled by the whole "veteran" attitude the Flash displayed. Like, I would have appreciated it much more if I knew he wouldn't go back to his show and make the exact same mistakes he chastised Supergirl for. Seems like a dumb move on the writers' parts.

I haven't seen Supergirl. But then end of this Flash crossover preview is the cutest thing ever.

I enjoy supergirl, it's really improved since the start of the season. I also fucking love the flash, so this crossover is the best thing ever.
