Anybody know about Starbound? Well the game is great even though it's basically in Alpha. So I'm throwing in a Steam key for the winner of this week's quiz. We can just call it compensation for the holiday delays. ^__^

I actually just bought it over the holidays and I'll attest to how great it is. Basically it's a fully realized Terraria with a lot more to do.

Getting real tired of eyepatches, devs.

I'm really hoping I can start to play through games as fast as you guys sometimes seem to. My new year's resolution this year is to use my time more efficiently, so maybe I'll be able to.

Yeah, the battle system in XIII and XIII-2 really shines when you get into the post-game battles that are all about planning out the perfect set of paradigms for the battle in question and knowing when to use each one.

So.... .... .... ...has anyone heard if this game was even any good? I mean, seems people were excited when it was announced and then just kind of ignored it when it was all but confirmed that it would never make it over here.

I can't play Hardcore, my internet connection is far too choppy :(

(Yes, though I am happy Blizzard is making changes to the loot system, I'm still a bit sour about the server-side structure)

EDIT:  Just read this and I can't stand when people cancel a preorder over this kind of stuff....  Good grief, it's like the world ended.

Ugh. People are still bringing up the Elin in TERA? Because I guess the internet is full of closet lolicons? I mean, this design I could go either way on, but the Elin censorship was something I was actually glad to see.

Welch's, a company that has yet to make a product that I don't find delicious, now has jelly filled licorice that is very, very yummy.

With respect to beating Kirby, congrats!  I hated that last form for the final boss; and I also applaud the Kirby team for thinking up such horrifying designs for their final bosses (especially for a game that is otherwise rainbows and stars and pretty colours).  I also found most of the other bosses easily killed by Jump or Tornado abilities.

I usually just kick them in the head repeatedly with the Fighter Kirby mid-air down ability.
1165  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Warming up to a new title on: January 03, 2014, 09:39:38 PM
I'm sorry to say I've only really experienced the opposite. That is to say there are plenty of times where I'll really be into a game, usually when it's been a while since I played something "new." Only to quickly grow weary of it and be ready to move on to something else new.

I could stretch the truth and say I experience what you're describing every time I start a Harvest Moon game, but that's only because those games really do have a "warm-up" phase where the game is incredibly dull and tedious until you reach a certain point.

Some people are so horrid. Ugh. My little sister has her first job in KFC, and she's doing really well there. I thought I would go see her and get a cup of tea while she was working. She told me she had the worst day yesterday because she accidentaly spilled some coffee on a woman, and the woman later rang up and complained about her, saying that my sister spilled it on purpose and that she was flicking pennies at her.

I know it's impossible for you guys to know, but my sister is the kindest, gentlest person on Earth. It is completely outside of her nature to do something like that. When I was a waiter in a hotel I accidentaly spilled coffee on a woman, so I know how awful that makes you feel, but at least i wasn't complained about and then lied about. Fucking assholes.

As Edea would say, mrgrgr...

I almost got fired from my first job because I wouldn't take shit from customers. I really hate the "customer is king" philosophy, because the "customer is a puckering asshole" is more apt.

100%.  I hate when they get their way because of a fear for a bit of lost business.  It's the epitome of not teaching a child a lesson when it happens and letting them get away with it.

That goes both ways, though. There have been way too many instances at my retail jobs when showing the customer a bit of compassion has been kicked to the curb in the pursuit of a little extra profit. Working at Gamestop, I'm sure you know that unless it's about selling someone a pre-owned product, it's frowned upon to try and save a customer some money.

Even with the pre-owned stuff, My assistant manager basically encourages all employees to just give people a pre-owned copy of a game without making sure it's what they want. I agree customers should be a little more forgiving to their service providers, but at the same time sometimes retailers are just asking for a little backlash.

Just finished Kirby's Return to Dreamland. I think that brings my Wii backlog to only 6 more games (but one of those is a Harvest Moon, so that's going to be slow going) Think I'll do the two Gamecube games that I'm including in that number first.

Double post edit:

I just started playing around with the challenge multipliers in Project Diva F. WHY HAVEN'T I BEEN USING THESE!? I could be rolling in Diva Points at this point but noooooo~ "not up to the challenge" I said. Seriously was overthinking how difficult the challenges would make things not even putting two and two together that I already do the challenges just fine without buying them.

Only one I'm not too happy with is the Stealth one. Too much of a challenge for a x2 multiplier, though it would be nice if challenges could be combined.

Oh my God, this game is so gorgeous! Like I really liked the art style for 4 Heroes of Light, but it didn't really translate well into the game with the limited tech. With the 3DS it *really* looks amazing. It's just. so. damn. BEAUTIFUL!
1169  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: The PS Vita is Awesome! on: January 02, 2014, 01:46:16 PM
I too love my Vita and I'm happy to hear Sony actually managed to sell quite a few this holiday season. Maybe now they'll pay more attention to it and it will be more than a footnote at E3.

I've mostly been playing Project Diva F, primarily because I've been on a streak of accomplishing goals in that game. First I managed to clear all the songs on Hard Mode, I'm only 3 songs away from getting all Perfects in Easy Mode, and I'm only 150,000 Diva Points away from unlocking every module.

I've also found a really fun (and addictive, but aren't they all?) iOS game called Spirit Stones. It's a little like the Puzzles & Dragons formula in that it's a TCG combined with a Match-3 Puzzle RPG, but it uses a different match-3 game that I find a little more interesting and it doesn't take a frustratingly long time to progress.
