from watching the trailer and extrapolating, I assume. they're usually pretty formulaic in how they demonstrate new characters' moves.

I was not expecting that in the slightest, but cool nonetheless. Looked like he's an Ike clone, which makes sense and I'm totally cool with if that's the case. Looking forward to getting him!

Anyone else notice that they seemed to purposely avoid showing Cloud vs. Link in the announcement?

Actually, his b moves are completely unique, and he has a limit mode mechanic as well. His a moves are a mix of Shulk and Ike, but he's defimitely not a clone aside from the similarity of their weapon and all that- even more exciting! /D

What a great surprise. Now it's Cloud time!

I imagine he got a review copy.

At some point I will definitely stream some Japanese games.

I've got absolutely no problem with Uematsu not being involved. He's not the only good composer in the world. Plus, I'd imagine they haven't even considered anything regarding music yet.

I love this game and look forward to Isaac being in Smash someday.

My main issue is the brevity of the album. I love what's on there, I just wish there was more, especially from Chrono Cross.

I don't want to be hyperbolic, but I am finally listening to this (finally he says, hours after release).

I was a little gunshy after the samples had a LOT of vocals with occasioanlly cheesy lyrics.

But this album is fucking fantastic. I'm on Marbule right now and sort of marveling at how out of this world the arrangement and the performance is.

You linked Duke Silver just to pander to me and I'm okay with it.

This does sound like a good idea!

I'm open minded as to vocals, and they sound very pretty in the samples (no surprise, Laura Shigihara is wonderful), but my only concern with a few tracks is the same as those in memoria: when the vocals are such a focal point that I can't hear the original melody.

I sure do like the samples though.

Also Promise, the Legend of Mana album, is great, and when I have a computer with Internet again I'm totally going to talk more about it.

For the longest time, I thought Imageepoch was a Square-Enix-like amalgamation of Imagineer and Epoch. Apparently I was very wrong about that!

I thought Fate/Extra was OK. I agree with your assessment, Neal. The battle system was different, but not necessarily good. I think the game was much longer than it needed to be too. Or perhaps if they were a bit more conservative (can't believe I'm saying this) and ditched the hardcore rock-paper-scissors, it would've been solid.

I didn't realize they made Criminal Girls, though. I've played a handful of Imageepoch games, most notably Luminous Arc and Sands of Destruction. Neither were particularly *bad* games, but they were super mediocre and not exciting at all. This especially stung with Sands, which had talent like Masato Kato, Kunihiko Tanaka and Yasunori Mitsuda on its team and looked visually similar to Xenogears, but still managed to be dull-as-dirt. I can't even recall a single piece from the soundtrack.

But apparently they also made 7th Dragon and those games are supposed to be pretty good? Rieko Kodama worked on the first one.

From what I understand, the CEO mysteriously disappeared earlier this year and the company shuttered shortly afterwards. Atlus are releasing their final game Stella Glow later this year, which looks like another Luminous Arc.

The final boss track from Sands is pretty fantastic, amidst a sea of "okay"

Well what do you know. Interesting!

Listening more closely, I'm actually not such a huge fan. I agree that it sounds a little generic, and lacks some of the character I usually associate with Persona tunes. Maybe it's more of an overture than a boss theme? I do like the hook, though!
14  Media / The Soundroom / Re: PERSONA 5 MUSIC! on: September 24, 2015, 09:15:43 AM
Hmm... I'd wager dollars that this is fake. Atlus hasn't released any albums containing samples of the P5 music, and it doesn't have any vocals, which has sort of become a modern Persona staple.

Neat song though!

I disagree with all of you hating on Lost Odyssey.
