1  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Xenoblade on: August 29, 2014, 04:41:50 PM
@glassjawsh: The 3DS just like PS3 has had way more than one big title at this point that has gotten new 'potential users' (that's what they call them) excited to buy the system(s).

While TLoU is good and a system seller, is hardly the reason I at least would recommend a PS3 considering the console having a decent variety of titles available right now, that to me is a good reason to get one, buying a system only for one solitary game is a waste in the long run. Same with the 3DS.

Yes, but only if you never buy another game for it. I'm not an idiot, so I don't buy consoles when they first come out (why pay $600 for a system with a shit game library when you can pay less than half two years later?)  TLoU was the reason I finally made the jump to PS3, just like FFVII was why I bought a playstation with all my paper route money when I was in the 7th grade.  Systems' entire libraries are always tempting, but a lot of people still need that ONE exclusive title to push them over the edge (and then the flood gates open and I BUY ALL THE GAMES!!!!head asplode!!) I held out for a LONG time on the PSP (Ys SEVEN finally got me) and now it looks like I might finally have cave on the Vita (Virtue's Last Reward) and 3DS (Xenoblade).

The 3ds is definitely the better buy if you don't have one already. The wii is competent, but mostly a joke in the long run, whereas the 3ds is still quite a viable option for gaming in general

Wii: 2/10
will not bang.
got it

I'm glad you think I'm an idiot for buying consoles early on. Bought almost all of my consoles early on and haven't regretted it once.

HE SAYS

IT'S SHULK TIME

Looks like I'll be rolling triple blue... Game and Watch, Sonic, and Megaman. Plus Shulk, if he's in, since Nintendo hates me and couldn't add Isaac instead.

Welcome to the fields of hatred! ;)

I hear our podcasts are great for wasting time at work *cough*

episode 16 is live. LISTEN TO US CHAT WITH SEAN SCHAFIANSKI, AND HEAR GOOD MUSIC.

ALSO we just hired a new co-host. Look out for the Rhythm Encounter duo to become a trio starting in episode 18. ;)

Also, I switched to new editing software, which has some great tools for reducing background noise and hiss. Please do let me know if you think this episode is an improvement (or a decline) in terms of quality!
6  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Re: Diablo 3? on: August 22, 2014, 10:25:37 AM
You can definitely bump up the difficulty early on. Most players can jump to hard or expert almost right away. My roommate and I are seasoned Diablo addicts, so we were running on Master pretty quickly. You definitely have to manipulate the difficulty controls a little more post-RoS, but it gives you a lot of flexibility for finding just the right level of chaos and challenge.

Crusader is awesome, but Malthael isn't too bad when you're sub-Master mode. But when you get a full group of four in some of the higher modes, he can be a nightmare, since so many of his attacks aren't gear or stat checks (early on), they're just plain "you have to dodge this or you die"-type hits-- which is awesome, but a lot more demanding than the pre-Act V bosses, IMO.

He specifically said "isn't selling well [in Japan] like the rest of the world.'

Your statement is accurate outside of this context, but aimed at debunking what he was saying. So...

Yeah, I've actually liked using a generic character for our seconds, since it helps my friend and I focus on our own two characters while building support out as we need it. I could see wanting to use actual personalities in SP, though.

My roommate and I played it last night holy fuck creepy

Yeah, and there are a lot of viable strategies that take into account some risk. My buddy and I have also found hard mode to be the way to go. You start out weak, but you very quickly become powerful, so hard mode helps the game really demand that you make use of all that power.

We got into a fight with a bunch of drunk goblins and poison flowers, and it was a symphony of explosions. Turned out, letting the drunk goblins burn themselves to death running on fire was the way to go. Quite amusing.

You can just right click the files in the iTunes library and hit "Convert to MP3"
15  The Rest / The Helper Monkey / Re: iTunes Store on: August 12, 2014, 10:41:30 PM
You can convert it from iTunes format to MP3, then you don't have to use it either. I do the same thing, because I megaloathe iTunes.

As far as I know there's a vetting process for everyone who publishes for-sale music on iTunes, so you should be safe.
