1  Media / RPGFan Music Discussion / Re: Final Fantasy X HD Remaster OST on: September 02, 2015, 08:28:30 PM
I'd love to hear why. I think it has some charming music on it. It's a bit rougher than, say, FFX (IMO), but I do like the music in X-2

I'm glad everyone's in agreement at how glorious KH2.5 was. It's one of the (many) reasons I'm so excited for FFXV's OST. Seems like it's going to mostly be the same combo of Shimomura and the VGO, and I'm A-OK with that.

I just started the series for the first time with the 3ds collection and all the music I've heard has been topA
this one also seems like no exception.

I'm in agreement. I really, really love some of the songs in this version (Besaid Island, Memories in Green), but I agree that some of them now have a different tone than originally. It's interesting that the team chose to go that route, and the mixed results make me glad that the KH2.5 OST took the route it did.

Yeah, I totally agree. I listened through the OST several times on my flight to Japan yesterday, and it really does showcase how talented Hamauzu is.

MERMAID!!

I'm a fan. I didn't love their newest album (just thought it was pretty good), but Mermaid is one of my all-time favorites songs.

I really liked the demo of this (talked about it on the podcast a few episodes back, too). Great music, cool atmosphere, unique premise. Very much looking forward to the full game.

I have a pretty great keyboard and mouse, but there are still some games better suited to gamepad control. This is definitely one of them, IMO.

Do you guys not play FPSs?  I can't imagine ever using a gamepad for an FPS when I had the option for mouse+keyboard...

Amen. FPS controller controls are way better now than in years past, but I'd still never even dream of playing one with a controller.

For anyone playing the PC version, this guide by Durante (Dark Souls fix guy among others) is pretty tops.

I loved this game in arr. However I'm starting to feel like some of you. This regearing every patch makes me feel overwhelmed. Sadly, I don't even feel the desire to try and keep up. I haven't cancelled yet, but I'm on the verge.

Yeah, I hate the gear treadmill in the game. I love all the content and the storyline, but just mindlessly grinding with no chance of something exciting happening during the grind to get slightly higher stats that don't change my play style in any way is usually why I don't get into the endgame. It feels like work "I gotta sign on today to do dailies and run a roulette and earn my salary so in a week I can invest."

I have not said much here in a while but I am following along and it fills my heart with glee.

14  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: FINAL FANTASY XV, This is a fantasy based on reality. on: August 06, 2015, 02:11:06 PM
I think "planning" and development have to be separated here. Otherwise, by that logic, Persona 5 has been in development since 2009 because the team said then that they were working on concepts for it. The game WAS scrapped basically entirely like three years ago, so while Square Enix did fall prey to announcing it too soon, it's not really the same game anymore anywa.

I just don't get how people don't understand that-- all the 'IT HAS BEEN IN DEVELOPMENT FOR TEN YEARS' and 'IT LOOKED BETTER BEFORE WTF' seem to miss that XV and Versus aren't the same game. Same characters, same concept (as you mentioned), but a totally new game built on that. Started like, three years ago, not ten. Marketing snafu for sure, but people just really want to believe this game has been in active development for ten years.

Also that Leviathan art hngh
