1  Media / RPGFan Music Discussion / Final Symphony Discussion on: Today at 02:50:56 AM
Hey! I just reviewed this album.

It's really, really good. Let's talk about it! Did anyone else pick it up? What did you think?

I steal almost constantly with Zidane. Since every enemy usually has two items, you can get a huge supply of stuff by stealing from regular enemies.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I don't think the inclusion of blood or more brutal violence in XV is an attempt to pander to what is perceived as western audience' tastes. I think it's just a style that worked for Tabata and co. in Type-0 (and it worked well, IMO, having played it), so they're using it here, too. I like what you said about a international mindset-- that's absolutely the vibe I get from these.

Personally I think it's an attempt to be more like Type-0, which has blood and 'brutality' and is quite good. That game was well-received (and not exactly designed for western audiences), so I'm not sure I see it as an attempt to grab western players.

I like those words and agree.

Not to steal Mike's thunder, but just wait for... well, what's next :)

I've never played this one and I'm really looking forward to the 3DS version.

Dankest Dungeon is actually a thing, and it's a demake of Darkest Dungeon.
edit: 3DS is considered mobile?

You're blowing my mind right now.

And personally, I don't think 3DS is considered mobile, I think it's considered 'handheld,' but maybe those are arbitrary distinctions in 2015. Mobile makes me thing smart-devices, handheld makes me think "dedicated handheld gaming console."
8  Media / RPGFan Music Discussion / Re: Persona 2: Eternal Punishment OST (PSP 5-disc release) on: February 16, 2015, 09:13:57 PM
Yeah, I've always been a big fan of the new Persona 2 tunes. I know they clash a bit with the style of P1/P2 original, but I like that they connect it a little better aurally to P3/4, and find the reworked music to still keep the crunchiness I loved about the classic P2 stuff.

So, about the camping news.

I have a huge weakness towards games where you and your party camp and you're not just watching scenes with them talking, but can actually move around and interact.  I know it may be a bit much to ask, but I'd prefer if they went BoF-esque and you can walk around camp and talk to your friends about their opinions on current events.

But really, I just love camping.  It adds so much to a game for me.  Color me excited about this seemingly mundane addition.

I agree. I love it when Tales games do skits, and I love Darkest Dungeon's camping scenes (though they're a little more canned). These are moments when the world isn't ending or breaking around you and you can get actual character displays. <3

Hey everyone! We're trying something new! Feel free to chat about this album here, and do be sure to check out Pat's review of said album:

Did you like the new PSP music? Feel it clashed with the old style? I actually enjoyed it, but I also don't have much nostalgia associated with P2 and adore the more modern stuff from the series.

A great discussion. I've seen evidence of both!

Heck, I might even have been guilty of one of them in the past, though hopefully not too much. Thanks for the question-- I'll bug Rob to bring it up in the next show!

Kudos to RPGfan for once again making my gaming world a better place to be :)

Holy moley artwork

I want to be skeptical of this game seemingly going the Skyrim "too much content what color beam would you like to kill your enemies with" but my god I dont' even care anymore it looks so good

My favorite part is still in Lindblum when Zidane comments on a cheesy suit or armor in a shop, then later on Steiner goes into the shop and comments on what a fine suit of armor it is.

Zidane vs. Steiner is one of the things I enjoy most in all of video gaming. I love this game's cast so much.
