I also hope not. I'd love it if it just had smooth co-op play, because Xenoblade's combat system is perfect for that. It'd be a fantastic alternative to Tales games. Imagine the possibilities. Not necessary, but having it well-implemented WOULD be exciting for me.

You know, I don't see why they used the Xenogears X. Xenoblade had nothing to do with that, other than the name and the homage. I love the X, but it just seems cruel to tease us as though it'll be a new "Xeno" game like that.

From the bunch I played of EO3 I found the lack of story was one point against the game for me. Still, I did manage to have fun with the game but I think it needs too much grinding and it gives very little in the form of reward (which many times can be a story), so as much as I wanted to support this game and give it a go, I'll probably wait more to see people's reactions on it. In the meantime I'm putting my chances on a genre of RPG which I'm much more inclined to like, Fire Emblem: Awakening.

The game is basically EO1-2-3 with polygonal enemies and live instrumentation in its music. Which I think is awesome, but if you're looking for more emphasis on plot, you may have to look elsewhere.

I was thinking that given how the controller for the Wii U is The Wind Waker can benefit greatly from it.

You could finally use the Tingle Tuner without the need of an another system and hunting for treasure in the ocean can be a more interesting affair, especially for when you have to get the Triforce charts.

Or, god willing, they can just get rid of the whole Triforce chart sequence entirely because it made me hate Tingle for all eternity. Or at the very least, remove the absurd rupee cost. FUCK YOU TINGLE!

I'm definitely not "the internet" but I sure didn't like Diablo 3 at all for many reasons - none of which have to do with errors.

Going back to that terrible May of 2012, when I shortly realized it was the biggest disappointment of waiting 11 years for a game, I just didn't like how it boiled down to being a Auction House based game, where all power comes from that.  Not to mention, its a money-suck for Blizzard to make money off fake video game 'items'.

Oh for sure, I agree with all of that. But I do think the core combat feels good, and I think the running internet joke of "hah hah error 37" has run its course. I think the game is fantastically playable, right up until you get to the end and realize that the design of the game broke the entire metagame that gave D2 its legs.

Never mind, I found it finally!

Rob - the difference between Dark Souls and Diablo III's online experience is that if Dark Souls' online didn't work, you could still play the game.

With Diablo III, you couldn't play the game.

To tell people to get over it is bullshit.

Rob is talking about the error 37 criticisms that people are still bringing up to this day. Error 37 was a problem got less than a day at a time in which most people were a asleep. People shit on Diablo 3 before they even get into the game. My issues with the gameplay I mentioned in the podcast are still valid, but the fact is that the Internet loves to hate Diablo 3.

And thanks for the feedback, DarkCecil! Stoked that you dig the show.

Why has no one recommended Digital Devil Saga yet?

from the DmC OT on NeoGAF:

"As a DMC fan, I just feel like the internet and the gaming press have been telling me that I'm not allowed to hate my new stepdad just because he isn't as cool as my real dad, and I'm an entitled cunt because there are homeless orphans in Africa.

Like, I get it, but my dad was still way cooler."

Yeah, but in this case the new stepdad is a philanthropist, takes incredible care of your mom and makes her happy, gets along well with your brothers and sisters, and isn't trying to replace your dad, he just wants to support you.

I'd be okay with a PS2 remake as long as they kept the awesome 16 bit shop music.

Later, Ace.
1165  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem on: January 23, 2013, 11:05:48 AM
I hope that you will be able to eat the Fire Emblem people to absorb their powers.  This has already had a proof of concept with Kirby in Smash Bros.

Serph devours Marth!

Serph becomes FABULOUS!

Kinda excited for this. I hope XSeed gets to localize it.

Also no more ACE+ and Shimomura on composer duties? Womp womp.

So uh, this is the only 3D Zelda that I think is worth a shit. And oh my god does that comparison shot look awesome.

Maybe they'll complete the dungeons that got scrapped?
1168  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem on: January 23, 2013, 10:54:22 AM
Well... that's certainly something.

I'm willing to be it's a strategy RPG.

It's not that I thought it was outright bad-- I'll take AAA-budget scifi whenever I can get it. I enjoyed the plot, and could have swallowed some of the other plot-related stuff if I could have gotten behind the characters a bit more. Still, it did well, so I'm hopeful in regards to a sequel.
1170  Media / The Soundroom / Re: Kid Icarus: Uprising on: January 22, 2013, 09:27:51 PM
I did not play the game, but this soundtrack was excellent-- Sora does a fantastic job with the soundtracks in their games. And kudos to you for pimping out SEMO, those guys are awesome :)
