1216  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Shin Megami Tensei 4 announced for 3DS. on: June 02, 2012, 12:18:02 PM
Honestly, there's nothing the current gen consoles really offers that'll make SMT any better; the games go for stylized art rather than realism and I don't think the current technology would do anything other than smooth out some edges. The PS2 was pretty good at rendering models very close to the original artwork, and we've seen that the handhelds are as powerful as the PS2, if not moreso. Unless you are really just that averse to handhelds, I'd say give this game a chance - it did, after all, JUST get announced.

I think it's a matter of disappintment-- the presentation is SO good in Catherine, I know I was kind of hoping to see a full SMT with that kind of presentation.

It's also coming to Steam. YES

I am listening. I approve of the music that has been played.

This is devolving rapidly. I really hope it doesn't become a shit-slinging contest.
1220  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: EA in a Nutshell on: May 28, 2012, 08:57:43 PM
I can understand people complaining about EA... pre-2007 or so.  Considering they've published titles like Brutal Legend, Left 4 Dead (360), Amalur, Rock Band, Burnout Paradise, Mirror's Edge, Crysis 2, Shadows of the Damned, Dead Space, Alice: Madness Returns, Syndicate, etc. in recent years, it's not as if they're simply rehashing Madden and Need for Speed over and over anymore.  When Larry Probst left, things really did get better.

I agree. Trying to monetize games is something everyone is doing-- hell, look at TF2 with hats. EA has published some pretty solid original games in the past few years. I'm not a fan of some of the bigger pubs' business practices, but I can't just say everything they make is garbage.

I don't support good deals or awesome musicians, so I will be passing on this.

I believe I can do this, as long as we don't have 50 zillion reviews per update. I try to limit to four per update, so this shouldn't be an issue. Thanks for the feedback!
1223  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Rumour - "Valiant Saga": FF12 sequel on: May 26, 2012, 05:50:16 AM
Does anyone think this looks a LOT more like a Vagrant Story sequel than an FFXII sequel? Same world, I know, but the little synopsis and the logo make it sound JUST like VS. Which I would find pretty cool.

Level 40 wiz. *dances*
1225  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Kingdoms of Amalur on: May 24, 2012, 05:19:57 PM
Wow, this totally sucks. I feel so bad for those guys. Their game was a bit generic in terms of the world, but there was a ton of lore and the combat and exploration were fantastic.

Never awesome to hear that this many people have lost their jobs.

The feedback loop in Dark Souls is brutal, but amazing. I love the game.

So yeah. Love this game. Runes are so awesome.

Well guys, it was nice knowing all of you. *goes to sleep in preparation*

Both are fantastic. Both have awesome combat and really compelling character progression. The games reward careful play and use of strategy. I prefer the story in DDS1-2 because of its greater focus on your player characters. But again, both awesome.
