This studio has no record. So you can't base it on that. They've been candid, honest, and remarkably transparent throughout the development of this game and are committed to making it one for the players to enjoy. So yes, going on their word is perfectly fine with me.

Are you intentionally ignoring the part where he said they release $40 in dlc? If you pay 60 and then 40 for DLC, you have spent 100. If you pay 60 and buy no DLC, wait for a year,  and buy the GOTY for 30,you have spent 90 and received all DLC.

Don't follow your reasoning.

Putting parts of the game behind paywalls could feasibly lead to the game being sold online in chunks.

It has nothing to do with gay marriage. That analogy doesn't even make sense.

The argument made isn't feasible. A small piece of optional and unnecessary content being FREE to those who buy new is not logically followed by selling chunks. Of a game online. And gay marriage isn't supposed to be related. It's another example of a slippery slope argument.

Anyways, something I didn't look at in here, but are you stuck using shitty motion controls ala every fucking terrible wii game ever? Gotta say, if so, will not be running to play this as fast as I thought. Better yet, can you use a gamecube controller to play?

The game doesn't use motion even if you DO use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, and the GC isn't supported nor would it honestly be a good idea, all four shoulder buttons and the Back button are used so they would've needed to make a third control scheme to accommodate it, not to mention that if you hate that little, somewhat out of the way D-Pad on the GC controller you'd be stuck with it for Arts selection. Some like the Wii Remote + Nunchuk setup best, but if you'd still prefer a standard controller than just get a Classic Controller Pro for this.
Okay glad you cleared that up. Glad I bought my sister that classic controller for her wii...that I bought her as well.

Also, I just read that article. Really, you bought that article as legit. Chu chu breeding and arena? Cmon, if you played a xeno game you can't be that gullible.

I agree. It should have been plainly obvious that the article was false.

Do you have a link substantiating what you said?

No, they don't take place in the same universe or timeline. Confirmed by the scenario writers.

WHAT about this is annoying to you? How is a re-release on PC going to hurt anyone? People who already own the game have access to all the new content for free. People who don't own it and are interested can pick it up with all of the new content on disc. Odds are good that the price of the re-release will even be lower than the original version. I am not understanding the logic of your annoyance. It sounds as though you're mad at them for releasing something that makes their game more accessible and convenient for new players. And that certainly doesn't make any sense.

I have no opinion on marriage...........

I actually have a big problem with cdprojekt un related to the dlc thing but more in line of the constant re packaging thing

That was an analogy, good sir, not me telling you what your opinions on marriage were.

And repackaging?  CDProjekt has provided every piece of content they've put in a repackaged version of The Witcher to users absolutely free.  The "Enhanced Edition" packages simply offer an updated installer with all of that data included so you don't have to download it separately.

If your argument is that the price declines over time, that's simply a matter of software having reduced value over time as the market becomes saturated.  Demand is lowered and supply is raised, so the price is lowered in an attempt at equilibrium.

Not to mention CDProjekt continually improves on their games after release, offering these improvements to existing owners for free and to new owners in the form of the Enhanced Edition packages.

Let me put it to you this way.

Say I buy the game new and download the "free content".

But I don't really get time to play the game until the fall (which happens with my backlog because of school).

Now I'm planning on going overseas to teach English this year. Say I take the game with me overseas, because PS3 games are region free and I get a PS3. I've now automatically excluded myself from that content unless I decide to wait and bring the code overseas. But if I ever come back to Canada and want to play the game, I've still excluded myself from the content, unless I buy another copy of the game.

That's just bullshit. There's no reason for that, except for greed. It's not rewarding anyone.

Just put in your PSN account and all your content is available to be redownloaded. I have done this several times when I lived in Japan and came back to the US.

And Dragon, that's the point. The second edition will be out LATER. This isn't a new practice. They sell Uncharted 2 now for a cheaper price than it launched it with ALL the DLC included. If you want to play it when it releases with the extra content, you buy it new or purchase a pass.

I try my best not to buy games used, specifically to support the developers and publishers in an industry where margins can be paper thin on games for the hardcore.  Sure, you have titles like Call of Duty or World of Warcraft, which make an obscene amount of money, but considering that this is a brand new IP from a combination of a new company and a developer that was about to cease to exist, I have no problem handing over my dollars.

I cant believe how many of you are falling for this fake dlc pr spin move

I also cant believe how many of you are approving it.

Its really sleazy

Seriously, how dare they provide free content to people who buy the game new.
1452  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Kingdoms of Amalur on: January 29, 2012, 06:41:32 PM
It isnt dlc. Its in game content that they cut, and said it was dlc in order to make there piracy prevention method noble.

It is DLC. It's content that would have been paid DLC, because it wasn't finished when the game was pressed to disc. Because EA uses Online Passes, they utilized that as a method to give the content FOR FREE to everyone who buys the game new (in other words, who actually gives their money to the developers and not to Gamestop vis-a-vis buying used). It's not a piracy prevention method, it's a used game sales deterrent for EA. Would you rather they not have this content at all? Or would you rather that instead of charging only those who buy used, they just charged everyone $10 for it?

And as Kyuu said, please edit your posts instead of double/tripling.

And for that matter, how is preventing piracy something that ISN'T noble? Stealing their game wouldn't exactly be a noble thing, either.

Once again, the conservative sandwich-heavy portfolio pays off for the hungry investor!

Did somebody mention Tales of the Abyss? Color Zoidberg intrigued.

Can't agree with worst OST ever. The soundtrack is actually full of really awesome music. And there are two Chocobo themes, and one of them isn't an abomination.

The other one is, though :)
