The changes really seem to come from fan feedback.

And if that's the case, then is a good thing that part of Nintendo is getting their hands our their ears for once.

Purists will disagree, but I do think that continuing a "traditional" approach will kill the series.

Agree.
332  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: RPGFan Music Podcast (Rhythm Encounter) Thread on: September 30, 2013, 04:08:14 PM

actually, just so everyone knows we are still alive:

The podcast is definitely coming this week. I've been swamped with graduate work, applications to work, piano lessons, and regular job work-- could I have taken the time I spend after relaxing with FFXIV and finished the show? Probably yes, but I didn't want to force editing when I wasn't feeling it, because why release a lackluster show?

so, you'll definitely see the episode this week, and we are already planning the next. FEAR NOT! My apologies to everyone for the delay.

Yeah I'm referring to the consistent "Don't kill the lambs nub" shouting in northern thanalan during Dark Devices. It's insane that people get upset by this and even moreso that it's expected that 50+ people not in a party during it are expected to wait around while the 3 parties rake in their exp.

Then get in a party or go do a faster FATE. Those of us in a party don't want to stand around grinding FATEs for an extra 45 minutes because of the 50 people who just wanted to bounce in were in such a rush to GET IN AND GET OUT. Why's their time more important than the people in a group? Here's what you do-- if you're in a hurry, go do another FATE. Let the people (like me) who want to get XP doing Dark Devices get our XP. You get done faster, we get our XP-- everyone wins, and no one has to bitch about it!

You're being willfully ignorant saying "it's insane that people get upset" that you rob them of a chance to get 100k xp instead of, like, 10k. Sounds to me like it's insane that people don't understand why people would want 100k XP instead of 10-20.

Furthermore, fuck the FC people that were hiding in the corner killing the lambs immediately and then tele'ing out.*

EDIT:

So in order to truly challenge myself this playthrough I'm playing on Proud Mode and chose Magicc and gave up Defense. At level 12 the Wonderland boss could kill me in 3 hits. Still managed to beat him. Putting the Proud in proud mode.

And I'm proud of you!

Insert ME3 Anderson proud of you quote here

They could start by nerfing Edgar's super broken tools.

YOU TAKE THAT BACK

I can't wait to hear Shimomuras' soundtrack.  I'm still waiting on her to best her Legend of Mana soundtrack; it's perfection.

^ Agreed, except that while LoM is fantastic, she's already outdone it ;) trololol

This 'rebalance-at-all-costs' mentality is why so many modern games are losing some of the charm of older games. I welcome a little chaos.

I LIKED breaking most of these games. It was fun :)

I agree with everything you just said.

Another Side is one of my absolute favorite KH tracks, and they way they've woven in other tunes (and my god the piano at 3:58) is absolutely masterful.

As long as he's developed well, I don't care what his personality is-- not this far out.

I think you'll enjoy KH2 even more, then. His shoes become normal-er!

The choices in the beginning impact the order in which you receive abilities.

Abilities are things like additional combo hits, different combo strings, special moves, etc.

But if I'm being honest, if you LOATHE the gameplay, it's never going to really change much (other than you getting cooler moves), and if you don't like Disney, you're probably not the right audience for it.

On the other hand, you might like KH2 more, the combat is much better. Or Birth by Sleep.

All that said, the later-game environments are pretty fantastic, so it might be worth playing through just to see them :)

You won't be disappointed :) And yeah, I did always love Wonderland's battle theme and regular theme, but the song absolutely shines on 1.5.

Also another track they did AWESOMELY:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAf44FHyI8c Critical Drive from 358. Sweet jesus, the piano.

In all honesty, much as I like HD remakes (good ones), I'd actually see 're-orchestrated soundtrack' as a bigger selling point than sharper graphics. I love that Square is doing this for KH and FFX.

While we're on the subject,

http://destati.jp/

the door opens in 4 days.

Based on some poking around, I think it's an orchestral arrangement in the vein of Pokemon Reorchestrated. If you go to destati.jp/door, you get a neat little message that says 'GO THE FUCK AWAY FOR A LITTLE WHILE.'

I've heard it's got something to do with Sebastian Wolff which would be fucking awesome because Wolff is awesome. That could be completely wrong, though.

Also I like the sample a lot. I'll be keeping an eye on that.

I was mildly interested in buying this, but the new soundtrack is madness and convinced me to. Vector to the Heavens is done gloriously, as are:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyaWwq4CfTk Lord of the Castle

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7NU9jBNbjw&list=PLhcSrKyqhfh62PULzXnybRJVhBZSbEYVe Traverse Town

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2gjL_jkl0s SWEET JESUS HOLLOW BASTION

Unfortunately, the only track redone for Chain of Memories was Lord of the Castle. All the rest are the original versions. I hope Birth by Sleep in KH2.5 gets the full treatment.
