Per the tracklist, I think that song in the first link is called Devil's Wind (?)

WILY STAGE <3 <3 <3 <3

I too love chiptune. One of my favorite parts of MAGFest last year was the random bursts of chipmusic being jammed out with all throughout the place.

this mix is awesome

I like a little of both. I try not to dislike a sequel for being different-- in fact, I think that's a much harder route to take. It's not always successful, but I like ambitious moderate successes more than totally safe rehashes.

Got Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMix today and I still Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate the beginning of Kingdom Hearts II. It is almost game-ruiningly slow and confusing. Like a bad dream that you can't wake up from. Ugh...I'm 2 hours in and it's the 4th time I've played through this section, though I'll admit this is the fastest and most fun this section has ever been, but that's still not by much...I just want the game to freakin' start already. I think I only have one more day...or was it two more days? Ugh...

I'm sort of the opposite, I like that beginning segment but still agree it feels like it takes forever... I hate tutorials for very basic controls too. Yay! You managed to jump! New cutscene! Poor Vivi gets beat down twice too :(

The game had aged well though, I love how smooth the graphics are (and how awkward some of the Disney-esque NPCs look x)

It'd be okay if it wouldn't drip-feed the story details. I have no idea who anybody is or what's going on. I think they're trying to make it compelling, but after a while the constant stream of questions without answers gets on my nerves. And that happened around the end of the first hour. And yes, the tutorials are stupid, I don't like the mini-games though they're not quite as forced as I remember. I think last time I just did the ball one over and over again because it's the only one that's actually fun...and that's probably because when I was a kid "Keep the balloon/ball in the air so it doesn't hit the ground" (I forgot what I used to call it) was my favorite game to the point of obsession...

But mostly it just moves at a glacial pace, yet I don't feel like I'm learning about these characters or their world, or even how to play the game. It's just unnecessary...I know later games try to justify this sequence, but it still irritates me greatly how pointless it is until the very end...it's like the beginning of Metal Gear Solid 2 all over again...okay, maybe not quite that bad, but closer than I'd like...

^ 100%.

DiZ (worst stupid name): HAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Player: ....heh?

And yeah, since the chubby kid just kinda chirps out information, the girl just tags along, I guess Hayner and ROxas had some small-nothing spat... It'd be great if they had more weight to the plot.  I do like the "Glitch in the Matrix" look and feel of the town (I always find 'twilight' a depressing time of day myself), but that's about it.

Dealing with people is a choice you make to engage with them. Owning a PC doesn't mean you have to deal with idiots. I reply here because it is a choice to engage with a thoughtful gaming community. The rest I dutifully ignore.

I love good video games on any platform they're available. (*'-')b I don't know why this is a debate.

stop with your logic, you

Difficulties are more based on your gear than a linear progression. If you're finding things too hard, you can bump it down. If they're too easy, bump it up. The higher difficulties offer more XP, gold, and better loot, so you always want to play on the highest you can manage. I'd say at least start on hard, because it isn't really very :)

I'd recommend beating the story mode once, and then switching to adventure mode (unlocked at completion), which is where the real awesomeness is at, post-storyline.

I always push my own personal agendas. It's why I'm so charming and handsome.

Also I can see why you'd think we hate JRPGs. All that time spent talking about how much I love Persona Q, Kingdom Hearts, Type-0, Valkyria Chronicles, and our lengthy discussion of FFXV definitely give that impression.

I've been using the licensed Mario/Luigi pro controllers shaped like GameCube pads, and I've found them to be pretty great. We couldn't find an adapter, so this was an alternative, but now we're considering not even getting one because the controller is so good.

I'm torn. I want to tell you what you want to hear since you're listening to us, but I basically guarantee the Steam love ain't going anywhere.

344  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: FINAL FANTASY XV, This is a fantasy based on reality. on: November 30, 2014, 08:29:00 PM
Not necessarily the skits, but I definitely haven't had any interest in Tales casts in a while. I like Xillia's less with each passing day. They just don't do any of the effort to show why those characters should be together (or why they're interesting). I haven't found a Tales cast to be especially engaging since Vesperia. It's just getting a little too iterative and tropey, without any of the effort that used to be involved at building that cast up. It's okay to use tropes if you make me believe those characters would be together and have interesting things happen to them. Perfect example are Alvin and Jude having 'bro-moments' after battle: at no point in that game do they ever have anything approaching a buddy-buddy relationship moment, but the game just expects me to assume that they've become bros because reasons?

Versus all the banter and joking and small character moments in, say, Abyss, that establish Jade, Luke, and Guy's relationship building up to things like the 'you're weak, you're a hack, you're whack' victory quote. I believed that they'd come up wit hsomething dumb like that, because the game had done the legwork in actually establishing their relationships.

yeah i hope there are small moments in FFXV

It's like I've said in other threads lately, it's the little moments like that that stick with me in RPG storylines.  Not the epic bombast, but the more "human" moments where the characters just kinda get to be themselves.

This ^

It's what Tales games used to be good at doing, and what the ATEs were great about in FFIX.
