Yeah, it's in my running for GOTY, too. I only play co-op with my friend every couple of days for a few hours, so I think it'll last for months.

Fabulous, I'm glad you all enjoyed it. Part of the benefit of doing episodes with shorter tracklists (aside from the fact that they're not really much shorter than they used to be, length-wise) is that we can get more "I wanted this track!" for the next time we cover a topic-- AND, it might give us an idea we wouldn't have otherwise had.

And hey, Evergrace has good music! :D

We have a ton of episodes planned right now, and I believe we'll have a musical guest very, very soon ;)

Aww you guys.

RPGFan has gotten me through many moments of boredom and many moments of "I have a ton to do but I'll edit a podcast instead."

Just wait for the big changes we've got coming in the next few months :D

man, you're going to like the tracklist on today's Rhythm Encounter :D

I've definitely fallen asleep to World of Mana in the past. What a great track. Also, three points of interest for you lovely listeners:

1) Derek is out of the country, but we recorded a guest episode to tide you over before he and I get started on MANY NEW EXCITING THINGS.

2) You're still welcome to enter the jingle-guessing contest. We're not going to do winners until we record our NEXT episode.

3) Stealing Rob's idea, if you all have any music topics or questions that you think would merit some interesting discussion, feel free to drop them in here!

New episode should be up in the next day or two!

The Persona Spam continues, this November.

Fine with me :D. Game looks awesome, soundtrack is rad.

Well, if I recall from an earlier interview, they actually imagine the endgame being more like Diablo, where it becomes a hunt for uberloot, so that could also be a mitigating factor.

They definitely need something in place if they expect this to last longer than a week or two for most players, though, because 30ish missions and 10-20 Strikes are going to be eaten before the end of breakfast for many players.

Joss is overrated, agreed. But he is also still good. Both things can be accurate. :-)

This guy.

Joss writes outstanding dialogue and understands that plot doesn't matter without character. Even in some of his works I haven't enjoyed, at the very least he actually has characters with personalities that are developed through actual development and not 'plot has decided this character must now do this thing'

Also Joss had less to do with Alien Resurrection than you want to believe. Plus that movie was going to blow anyway. Much like the upcoming Turtles film which insists on making them horrifyingly human.

Okay, so last night my buddy and I were fighting a bunch of fire monsters in a burning field. We bottlenecked the big boss using fire elementals (that they couldn't damage) while he stealthed behind them to kill the magic totem that was reviving them all.

I made it rain (heheheheh) on the battlefield to weaken them, and then froze the ground at my feet. Since I needed to use ice magic and I have the perk to make it easier to cast magic of the same element you're currently standing on, standing on my own ice patch while hasted had me throwing around ice spells three times a turn.

The strategy and terrain awareness in this game are un-freaking-believably good. Pillars of Eternity suddenly has a lot to live up to.

Surprising no one, I've been rolling a Warlock, and I really like it. Feels tactical, and it's oh-so-delightful to glide in and use the super, wreckign everything below you. The glide move really sells it for me, though. Love the extra mobility, and plus it makes me feel like I'm playing Tribes.

I felt like a badass playing with my buddy last night. Was fighting the boss at the lighthouse with all his adds. Buddy's melee, so I used the poison and water to make a stun/poison cloud to separate all of them from the boss, then used teleport to drop my partner right next to the boss, where he sliced and diced him unopposed. I adore the level of strategy in using the world to your advantage.

I've held off on a grounded mode replay for the PS4 version. Doesn't sound like it's for everyone, but I'm going to eat that up.

....kinda how I feel about Divinity, Dave!

I am going to rail you on the podcast.

I disagree completely. I found the gameplay and survival elements to be excellent and don't at all think it was a purely cinematic experience. It was VERY good in the latter category, but I'm replaying it because I enjoy the combat and the sneaking and the survivaling. Cool if you don't feel the same way, but saying it as if it's objective fact is not something I can get behind.

Finished this the other day. I really like it, but I think the lack of difficulty really hurts how memorable the game is in comparison to its influences. I can't remember any of the fights with the Order because they're all so easy and don't really require much effort. It's a shame because their designs are great and the level design is really solid, but without the tough challenge to make you learn the levels and patterns, individual moments are a little more forgettable than they should be.

The last couple levels are really great though.
